Ok- Am I just having bad luck? The last few 24-packs of Deer Park that I've bought will not stand up- I'm talking about the bottoms of the bottles. It's driving me nuts. I'm seriously thinking about sending them an e-mail.
Update: Here's the e-mail I received:
Thank you for contacting Deer Park® Brand Natural Spring Water regarding bottles not standing. We appreciate your taking the time to let us know about your experience. Your feedback is valued and helps us further improve our products and services.
It is difficult to offer a precise explanation without examining the product. Please be assured that we have very strict quality control. We take extra precautions to prevent damage to our packaging during shipment and storage. However, it sounds like your package may have been exposed to some improper handling. It is possible that during storage, too many cases were stacked on top of one another. This would cause excessive weight on the lower cases, resulting in a deformation of the bottle that will not allow it to stand upright. This type of defect can also occur due to improper bottle manufacturing. In a very small number of cases there can be slight deviations in the blowmolding process which can make the PET bottle more susceptible to damage in stacking and handling.
At Deer Park® Brand Natural Spring Water, we are committed to providing you with products that live up to your high standards for taste, quality and enjoyment. We would like to assure you that we have reported your experience to our Quality Assurance team so that they can follow up on this matter.
You are a valued consumer. Thanks to your helpful feedback, we feel confident that you will be completely satisfied with our product in the future. Please respond to this email and provide us with your complete mailing address so that we may send you reimbursement for your unsatisfactory experience.
We appreciate your interest in our products and hope you can visit our website www.deerparkwater.com for latest information on our products and promotions.
Hope to hear from you soon!

I have noticed that the bottles on the brand I buy seem thinner. I wonder if it is because they are supposed to be using recycled materials.

It's because they're making the bottles so much thinner now. Personally? I try really hard not to buy bottled water because it's such a waste of plastic, but when I do, I buy the Fiji because their bottles don't suck and their lids are real-person hand sized, not those skinny things all the other companies have that are impossible to get a hold of to turn.

I have that same problem with Deer Park. It's so annoying and people look at me like I'm crazy when I'm fighting with my water bottle in the break room.

Quite a few brands use the thinner cheap plastic now and the bottles seriously SUCK. At home we have a water cooler so the water is in the giant five gallon jugs, but at our cabin we need the bottles because the tap water is nasty and if the big bottles don't get used fast enough it gets nasty after it's been opened.

Please do send them a message. I did, months ago. I received a message back that they prided themselves on blah, blah, blah, and all their happy customers blah, blah, blah. They are the brand I still buy but their bottles are so thin and flimsy.

I hate plastic water bottles like that. I have a couple of nice insulated tumblers with straws and drink filtered tap water.

There's also the bigger risk of squeezing your water all over the place upon opening those thinner kinds.

how about getting those sleeve things that help with the bottle or can from making water rings on tables? They are made of a foam product and have flat bottoms...maybe that would help

I'm having the same problem with the deer park water we purchased. This past week we bought Nestle and didn't have that problem.

I agree - Ice Mountain is the same way, because the bottles are so thin.

I have the same issues with whatever brand of bottled water I happen to buy, if I pick up a 16.9 oz. bottle. I also hate the thin lid (that uses less plastic) that doesn't allow you to open it; I've squirted water all over myself more than once! I get that there are circumstances where you need to have bottled water like that available, but if I'm going to buy one just to have with me (if I'm out and about and it's summer, for example) it's a bigger bottle-- the 1 Liter bottles are still better-quality plastic. Right now I'm using a glass Snapple bottle that I keep re-filling with water from the RO tap.

We only use bottled water when it's more convenient for carrying around than a heavier style refillable bottle but it would be nice to not spray half of the bottle all over when trying to open.

Buying water bottles is SUCH a waste.
I believe they should only be used in emergency management solutions.
Buy yourself a nice reuseable bottle or Yeti tumbler and a filter and you won't have to mess with any of this anymore!

I would suggest a filtered camelback or Britta waterbottle and refill it with tap water.

It means that silica eliminates aluminum build up in your body as well as other heavy metals I believe. #4 on the list: www.globalhealingcenter.com/natural-health/detoxify-aluminum/

We don't buy bottled water any more unless we happen to be some where and need a drink. which is not very often because we all have reusable water bottles that we take every where with us. We used to have the water service that brought us 5 gallon containers. But we haven't had that for a few years now. We have the filtered water out of the fridge.

I would need to see some actual science to support that claim. I will check out the link but I don't have high hopes. Silica is problematic in its own right...

Has anyone heard of the brand of water called Volvic? exDH and I used to drink it exclusively in Japan and we (my Canadian family) found it in San Diego many years ago. I can't get it here. I would drink that exclusively if it were available. I reuse my water bottles now. I have a Tervis tumbler, a Tupperware 1L bottle and a couple of Dasani bottles I rinse out. For now our tap water because we have had a LOT of rain is at an all time high! It is really good and doesn't need filtering but that will end in March and we will be back to filtering and or buying water. (There is a water filter and ice maker attached to the fridge. Why not just use that? Well, if water still came out of it that would be good.)

Well I didn't know that this tip could be like a snake oil type of thing. The person that told me about it said her sister was suggested by her doctor to drink Fiji water for her high level of aluminum she got.

There are some articles cited so I will look at them, I just get a red flag whenever I see anything about "detox" from "natural news/health/etc" websites. Generally speaking they are garbage "science".
