There is a huge Little House on the Prairie (TV cast) reunion this weekend somewhere around where the real Laura Ingalls lived and wish I could go! Lots of the cast members will be there and stuff to do. So yeah I'm a dork..

aww, Dorky Girl, I'd go with you! LHOTP were my favorite books growing up, and who didn't love the series! You did read "Prairie Bitch" didn't you? Great read!

Probably in DeSmet SD. They have Little House days there every year. I visited there several years ago but not when the festival was going on. Ma and Pa lived there until they died, as did Mary, but Laura and Almanzo moved to Mansfield, MO, which is where my Dad's family lived. We used to pass by the farm on the way to my grandma's house in Mansfield. I am a big Laura fan and took my sister-in-law on a tour of the Little House sites in about 1996. We visited Mansfield, Independence KS, DeSmet, Walnut Grove MN and Pepin WI. Quite a fun trip, and we saw some other sights along the way also.

aww, Dorky Girl, I'd go with you! LHOTP were my favorite books growing up, and who didn't love the series! You did read "Prairie Bitch" didn't you? Great read! Yes as a matter of fact.. lol.. I actually read it when we went to Texas to see my oldest at boot camp last October. I couldn't put it down. It was very very good. Also read Melissa Gilbert's book too. Have not read Melissa Sue Anderson's though, I heard it was very boring. I have been to the Mansfield house. I grew up reading LHOTP and love everything I can get my hand on. Although being FB friends with some of the fan clubs and a few of the members, there are some HARD CORE fans... who are just a littttle over the top. But I am 'friends' with Nellie (Alison A.) and Dean Butler (had a little crush on him) and Melissa Gilbert and a couple of others. I did notice because this year is a bigger deal than other years, that Gilbert wasn't there. And of course I don't think Melissa Sue Anderson ever does much with these things. And yeah, I might have had a huge crush on Michael Landon... maybe.

Wasn't there some bad feeling between the actress who played Mary and some of the rest of the cast?

My in-laws have visited all the Little House sites they could find, along with Walton's Mountain, and Prince Edward Island b/c of Anne of Green Gables.
While I think Pa is a handsome fellow, my crush was Albert!

OKAY I know about that course.. I looked it up (if it is the same one)!! I am thinking about taking it as well and it is FREE!! www.canvas.net/courses/laura-ingalls-wilderAccording to the two books I read and what I can remember, Melissa Gilbert and Alison A.. thought Melissa Sue was just a bit stuck up.. When they were little I guess Melissa Sue's mom just wouldn't let Melissa Sue hang out with the rest of them. I think her mom was very controlling, which led to Melissa Sue being stuck up at least the other girls thought so. I have not read her book but I am going to assume that because she wasn't allowed to really hang out with the rest of them, she just never clicked with them. But Melissa G. and Alison were the best of friends while doing the show.

It sounds like fun to me - I'd love to go. I really miss the family-oriented shows like Little House and The Waltons.

Ooh, this looks so interesting! Wonder what all is involved in the course? I'm assuming it's a MOOC, so you can do as much or as little as you want. Thanks so much for sharing!

Oh and funny, I never thought Albert was cute.. but he is a HUNK now!! I've been waiting for years to say this: this post is useless w/out a photo! And while I wasn't as die hard a fan as some, I still think it's cool that there's a reunion and that it would be awesome to attend.

I'd heard about that reunion. I am more of a book person than the show person (it just got so ridiculous and I'm a bit of a purist... don't get me started on the Anne books versus the three mini-series) but it would be interesting to attend something like that. That course looks interesting. I think I am going to register since it's a time period I am researching. Thanks!

I'd heard about that reunion. I am more of a book person than the show person I am also much more of a fan of the books than of the show - I only watched it here and there. Glad you enjoyed the link - I'm kind of geekily excited about the class

I loved Little House on The Prairie when I was growing up. We bought the box set of the books for my daughter when she was in the 3rd grade. She has yet to read them. I read them for the first time when she was in the 4th grade. I loved them. I couldn't put them done. I stopped living life as we know it to read that series. I mean I would put the book down to cook meals and clean up the meal mess and to go to the bathroom and the rest of the time I was reading unless I was sleeping. It was right after we moved south and in the trailer there wasn't much for us to do in the winter time except watch tv or read. So I read....
