Our bathroom is tiny like that too. There's only two of us using it, but it sure would be nice to have more space.

Originally had towel bar, no problems, updated to hooks and ended up with eeewww towel after about two days. After months of trying to make it work, we have gone back to a towel bar. It totally depends on the towel and air circulation. I moved the hooks to the kids bath and they have quick dry towels and better circulation and no problems.
So you are both right depending on the variables.

My husband is like yours. We have hoops to hang towels in, but he insists on hanging his towel over the shower rod, "So it will dry." My towel dries just fine in its hoop. We have bars, but yeah my husband insist on using the shower rod. And every day I move it because I don't like my shower 'showing'.. I like it hidden behind the curtain, cause you know it's not like I was hiding a dirty shower or anything. haha

We have both. I haven't noticed that one dries better than another. Don't ask me how I know that if you throw it on the floor it doesn't dry.

Another one who has hooks and the towels dry just fine, but alas, I also have a husband who can't wrap his head around that fact!

We have an over-the-door hook rack. Has 4 hooks and our extra thick bath sheets dry just fine by the next day.

Any users of hooks out there, do the towels get dry? We have hooks in the "kids"/Guest bathroom. Yes the towels do dry and rather faster then in our bath; in theirs the hooks are over the vent.

We use hooks. But when the kids were home (and still when they visit) they just use their beds Wonder how they are getting along now that they are on their own in apartments?

We do have wicked humidity here, which is probably why my first thought was that the towels on hooks wouldn't dry.

Would a towel warmer fit in the space? You'll never have to worry about wet towels again. Even folded over so several will fit, they dry quickly.

I use hooks for towels in all our bathrooms and have never had any still damp the next day-they take up less room than towel bars and I think they look nicer, too. This. They'll dry just fine.

The way my bathroom is built, there isn't really convenient room for a towel bar. There is a towel bar but it is over the large garden tub. I have decorative towels hanging on it. You would not want to have to put our towels on it every day. Too much of a hassle to reach.
This is what we use. We hang it over part of the shower so when we are through showering, we can open the shower door and grab our towel. The one we have had 3 hooks but I could have bought one with only 2 because that is all we ever use. This works well for us.

We use both hooks and bar - double towel bar on the wall and 2 hooks on the back of the bathroom door in the main bath... works fine.

The ventilation in our bathroom sucks (old house), so hooks don't work for us. I have hooks on the back of the door for clothes or a robe, but I've hung my towel on it a time or two and it does take much longer for it to dry than the one I hang on the shower bar.

I agree they hooks would be sufficient and I actually like how they look better than bars. However my dh would say the same thing as yours regarding dry time.

my husband reuses his towels but I do not. I put them in the laundry hamper or in the washer. I just can't handle reusing my towel I had to do it for so many years when we lived in the trailer and It always seemed like my towel got used for other peoples hands. so I always had to get a new one each day any way.
hooks are fine the towel dries by the next morning.

If you have humidity, don't use the stacked bar shown in photo above. Although it looks great, even a small hand towel on outer bar prevents the rear one from airing out. Again, not a problem in some climates, but surely a concern if he's anti hook. I agree with your posts. our bedroom is downstairs and they dont always dry very fast. depending on the weather. I also agree, it depends on how you hang it on the hook. We use a rack that has 4 hooks. Some towls dont stay well and have to be bunched up to keep from slipping off.

I've used hooks in the past, and unless I readjusted the towel as it dried, it wouldn't get dry all the way. The bottom always seemed to get dry more quickly because it was more spread out. The top part that hung on the hook was all bunched up and stayed damp. So before I went to bed, I'd flip the towel over so now the bottom was on the hook. By morning it would be fine. Mine don't dry very well at the top either and if I remember, I flip it around later.

I think it must depend on your bathroom air circulation. We tried hooks - towels did not dry in 24 hours; started to smell in a couple of days. Tried the double towel bar as shown by a previous poster - bottom towel would never dry. Now we hang one towel on the double towel bar and the other over the shower door

My husband will not let towels be used more than once without washing, so drying is no issue. My brain tells me that a towel on a hook would dry better than one on a bar because the towel would have to be folded to fit on the bar. We put our towels on hooks. My husband, the clean towel meister, can't fold to save his life. I shudder to think of how our towels would go onto a bar.

We reuse our towels too. The guest bathroom has a bar our master bath has the wood with hooks on it. It has four hooks on it. I have a plastic hook bar for the outside pool towels. That one tends to get doubled up only cause it is outside, but I agree it does depend on your bathroom..

We don't have anywhere in our master bath to put a towel bar. So, we use hooks. If we take 2 showers a day, the towel might be damp when we use it again. Taking one shower a day? Our towel is always dry when we go to use it next.

I saw something really cute on Pinterest this morning. It was a shelf that was maybe 2 or 2 1/2 feet long with hook on it. It was gorgeous and you could pick things on the shelf also.

We reuse our bath towels for several days before we wash them. In the past we have each had a towel bar that we hung our towel on after use. We've now done some remodeling and we don't have room for two towel bars so I suggested we buy hooks and put up. They take up less space and are more "modern". He absolutely refuses to hear of it. He says the towel won't dry out from one day to the next if we use a hook. He wants to mount one bar over the other meaning the top bar is going to be ridiculously high. Any users of hooks out there, do the towels get dry? We have the exact same scenario in our tiny bathroom and my DH gets the hook. His towel does not dry so he hangs it over the shower curtain rod. He showers in the evening so I just hang his towel on his hook when I am having my shower in the morning.

Up here in New England, hooks are fine in the winter. In the humidity in the summer though, bars are much better. The moldy smells sets in really quickly if they are not on the bar.
As a side note, if we are having any company over I always remove all the towels from the bathroom except a clean hand towel. I don't want anyone using my bath towel as a hand towel...gross.
