We use hooks. The only time my towel is damp is if I shower in the evening and then again the next morning.

We also have both. I have a double towel bar to myself. Everyone else has hooks. My towels dry faster than theirs. This is the hotel rack I use: DH has this hook And the kids have an over-the-door hook thing from Target.

My husband is the same way. We comprised and put up a bar on the back of the door on the bottom half & hooks went on the wall. This way hopefully after a month he will see the hooks are fine and we can take the bar down. A little putty and paint and viola the bar is gone. I figured all he does why not let him have a bar and in the long run it's only a bar.

We changed to hooks in the master because I moved a piece of furniture in the only spot where a bar could go. I like the look better but have to say the towels don't really dry there. Dh puts his their but I toss mine over the master closet door and mine is always dry.

This is interesting to me because so many like the hooks. I have one on the door and only put my microfiber towel on it. It usualy dries, but anything heavier does not consistently dry well. It's probably a humidity thing.
