Buy at Target or Walmart or some such stores. I don't wear it often so I don't want to spend $20+ for a tube. I have tried several and they flake and I have raccoon eyes an hour after applying. I just want to have eyelashes but don't need extra length just color as mine are turning invisible as I get older.

I liked the e.l.f. brand of mascara. Splurge for the $3 tube, it's light, I didn't find it clumpy or flaky at all.

I have their blush in my car. I use Loreal Voluminous Original. I have very light lashes and it coats them really well. It can smudge from time to time, but I haven't found a mascara that doesn't. I wear a fair amount of eye cream around my eyes and I think that promotes the smudging.

Wow three recommendations for basically the same mascara. I really thought I had tried this in the past and it flaked but it has been years and I may be remembering wrong.

I am liking Tartes Light, Camera, Lashes. its a bit pricier than the drugstore brands, but I find it is one of my absolute favorite. No clumps, no flaking crap on my face, doesn't run down my face.

Since I have sensitive skin and am allergic to a few ingredients that are used in most drugstore cosmetics, I splurge on more expensive cosmetics that don't have these ingredients.
I don't wear my cosmetics daily, but I don't have a problem with a tube of mascara lasting a year. The reason "they" say that you should throw it out every 3 months is the bacteria from daily use. I only use my mascara maybe once a week, so there's not that much bacteria. I DO toss the mascara if I get an eye infection.
My favourite is Dior Diorshow. Sephora sells a small tube for $18 instead of the full size which is around $30. I also got two small tubes of Lancome's mascaras Hypnose and Definicils. I do like those as well.
You could also get your eyelashes tinted. Salons have a special dye that lasts a month or so. I have a friend who is blonde and has blonde lashes who gets this done. Her lashes look amazing.

Maybelline Volum'Express Classic in Very Black is my go-to mascara. Though full warning - this has been on the market for about 14 years now and they've changed the packaging twice. I'm finding it harder and harder to find it in B&M stores, so I suspect they will retire the formula it sooner rather than later. That will be a very sad day for me, as I've had zero luck with other mascaras.

L'oreal double extend. I also get raccoon eyes with other mascaras. But, this one is awesome. Washes off with water and makes my lashes look fab.

Also a tad pricier than the drugstore, I like Clinique's naturally glossy mascara. One, because I can get it in a brown (I am very fair, so I think brown looks more natural), and two, because it's easy to remove. I think it's $16, but I only buy it during Gift time (plus something else-- brush cleaner, acne spot treatment, or a new color cosmetic).

I am currently using No7 Maximum Volume Black/Brown purchased at Target. I don't wear make up every day and am not too picky. I only know when I hate something. I don't hate this!

Maybelline Great Lash. I don't get the waterproof, because I like to just use water and regular cleanser when taking it off. It's my go-to every day wearing mascara! Has been for 30 years!!!

I love live love L'Oreal Double Extend Mascara. It's a two step process. Doesn't smudge or smear. Wears well.

Personally I use Benefits Lights Camera Lashes but you asked for drugstore brands.
My lids and lashes are pretty oily so it's hard to find mascara that doesn't run, I had good luck with the e.l.f. brand. I didn't like the L'oreal brand, it clumped badly for me.
ETA I misspoke, I use Benefit's They're Real

I really liked DiorShow as well. I liked it because it wasn't super thick and my lashes separated really well with it. Their white primer is also awesome to help your lashes grow thicker and longer. I use it when I want my lashes to look super dramatic for evening. My lashes are also already long like the OP, but I got a mascara sample set at Sephora that included it, and I really liked it. My lashes are so long that they brush up against my glasses sometimes, and the primer helped my lashes stay curled when I would go to the trouble to curl them. Drew Barrymore's line, Flower, for Walmart has better ingredients than most drugstore brands. I just tried her cream eyeshadow and creamy long lasting matte lip cream. I really like both. Her cream to powder blush and her blush/lip crayons have won lots of awards. The NYX products are also really great.

This is the one I bought a month ago and hate. It's all under my eyes within an hour and continues to flake. I thought I got it all off last night and nope I still had some on and it's been bugging my eyes all day. I got a sample of smashbox in my ipsy subscription so I am going to try that but don't know if I want to spend that much normally.

I have very oily lids as well. I hadn't really thought about it being an issue. I used to have problems when I was younger and am noticing I do better if I wear shadow but even with shadow I still get clumps and flakes.

My daughter is a makeup junkie, too. She likes a lot of expensive makeup but Loreal Voluminous Million Lashes has been her favorite for several years now. It's in the gold tube.

My problem with the mascaras on the market these days is the applicator or wand. I never have good results with the plastic comb type wands. I like the bristle brush wands which are getting harder and harder to find these days.
My favorite mascara has been Maybelline Lash Stilletos Ultimate Length, but I see on the Maybelline website that it has been discontinued. I guess I'll be heading to Walgreens to hoad whatever I can find on the shelf.

I also like Cover Girl Clump Crusher (I get the water resistant) and Tarte's Light Camera Lashes. A couple of times a year, Ulta will usually have it for $10 during their Days of Beauty.
