So my lost I-pod, right? You know, the one I had to replace? I found it.
Guess where? IN MY PURSE. IT WAS IN MY PURSE ALL ALONG!!!
So, we were really discombobulated out about my Aunt's death, and I had to rush from work to go to a funeral mass, etc. So evidently I put this I-pod inside a little side pocket in my purse. You can't see the side pocket really. I must have emptied my purse like FIFTY BILLION TIMES, cleared out all my drawers, cleaned out my closet, etc.
Yep. In my purse. Right next to the Holographic Shroud of Turin Jesus prayer card my grandmother gave me , which I carry always. The only reason I found it was that I just bought some eyeglass cleaning cloths and my purse was at an angle were you could see the pocket. So I thought, "AHA, what a perfect place to put something small like this!!!"
There was my little I-pod resting comfortably. Mocking me.
Now I have TWO I-pods. I only need one. Really. SIGH.
ETA: I found it the day after I uploaded all the music to my new one and threw away the packaging and receipt.
OY.

There's nothing that makes a lost item turn up more than buying a new one. I'm sorry. I'm also sorry about your Aunt's passing.

I once lost my iPod Touch for 2 weeks and was completely devastated. I was in grad school and there was no way I was going to go out and just buy a replacement. I found it one day in a purse I have NO recollection of using during that period when I thought I had lost it. It was a very stressful time, though, and I guess I just wasn't paying attention to what I was doing!

One morning, I was at home, talking on the phone to a colleague while I packed my briefcase. Late to work. (Of course.) My cell phone is the last thing I pack, and it wasn't where I remembered seeing it. Started upending things, getting increasingly exasperated while lamenting to coworker about inability to find said phone. Beat. "What phone are you talking on?" said she. "Erp."

I lost my wedding ring for over a year. I thought for sure I had lost it at the gym, but I had my other jewelry that I was wearing that day, just the custom made band was missing. I ended up getting a new band which had to be ordered while on a trip to California since they needed to make a wax impression of the engagement ring. Found my original band a few months after that. Now I have two bands, one for each side. They don't exactly match, but I wear them anyway.

Don't you hate that? I'm glad you found it. Maybe you can find someone who wants to buy your second one? DD lost her Mp3 player two weeks after she got it for Christmas. She was sure she dropped it on the way home from school so she only did a half hearted search for it. DH found it under the couch in late April. (It's a low to the ground couch so it doesn't need to be cleaned out from under much, and I don't know why I have to justify my housekeeping skills to a message board. ) I was so relieved he found it. It was an expensive touch screen one and I was very frustrated with her for losing it.

Sorry for the loss of your Aunt.
This falls in the way of losing a debit card, calling to cancel and order a new one, just to find the card not to long after. Very annoying. And I have learned not to throw away receipts and original packaging for a looong time after we've had the product.

Something very similar happened to my daughter. She lost her iPod one summer. I told her I wouldn't replace it until Christmas so she better keep looking. She looked and looked and never found it. So come Christmas, she got a new one. Guess what she found 3 days after Christmas. Yup, the iPod. She was so mad that she lived without one for almost 6 months when it was right there in her room the whole time. Turned out ok because her little sister then got a late Christmas gift inheriting the old one.
