OHMYWORD that blog is dangerous!!!!
Does anyone know what type of US yarn might be similar? I have some of the yarn she uses and lot of other yarns. I actually prefer and use Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn. Great stuff!

What price are you seeing? I pretended I was trying to buy a cosy pack in USD. The sterling price went down from £25 to £20.83 approx $30.94. I think you will be charged in sterling but they are giving you an approximate dollar price and I guess $30 before postage is what you should see on your credit card statement. On the item page the price was GB 23-something. When I put it in my cart, the price shown with the little cart icon at the top of the site said GB 28-something.

Does anyone know what type of US yarn might be similar? If I was picking yarn from here in the states. I'd pick hobby lobby I love this yarn. They have a lot of colors and I'm sure you'll find some similar to what Lucy used.

Oh that is gorgeous (pretty cats too!) I can't crochet but I'm seriously considering ordering that yarn pack right now... Quoting myself because I am still thinking about placing a yarn order. Even if my DH would kill me for taking on yet another project. So tell me really, how difficult is crochet? How long would a blanket like that take, ballpark, for a beginner? I've done a bit of knitting before so I'm not totally bereft of needle skills but still...

I've done a bit of knitting before so I'm not totally bereft of needle skills but still... This pattern is pretty simple. I made mine longer to fit my bed. But her original pattern isn't as big as mine. It took me about 6 weeks to complete mine, but I wasn't crocheting every day. It will depend on how much you work on it. To give you an idea on cost. I ordered 2 of her cosy yarn packs because I knew I'd need more that one for my blanket and I am using my left overs to make my cousin one. It cost me around $70 for 30 Skeins of yarn and shipping. And I had my yarn in about 10 days.

I have ordered several of Lucy's packs from wool warehouse.Very reasonable shipping to Australia and fast Kits come packed in a lovely big organza bag for giving of afghan after if you do that( I usually do ) The stylecraft yRn is DK or 8 ply It is very soft and crochets up with a beautiful drape. Most of my friends are very surprised it's acrylic as it doesn't feel stiff or scratchy Lucy has heaps of tips and great photos on her blog Just click on the pattern you are after in either side bar...they are all free but she does have a button to donate if you like Her blog is the first one I check every morning. Love love love her Her patterns are also on ravelry under attic 24

Even if my DH would kill me for taking on yet another project. So tell me really, how difficult is crochet? How long would a blanket like that take, ballpark, for a beginner? I've done a bit of knitting before so I'm not totally bereft of needle skills but still... I'm sure you would pick it up easily, since you have already done some knitting you will be familiar with holding needles (not the same way but at least you have learnt to use a needle as an extension of your hand). I would suggest getting a medium sized needle ( 4mm, 4.5mm or 5mm) and a ball of wool, pick a youtube video and give it a go. With the wool, don't pick a really dark colour as it will be hard to see the stitch which might lead to bad language! Lucy at Attic 24 has loads of pictures when she is explaining a technique like changing colour etc. Her site is a great resource. I took ages with my blanket since I kept putting it down for months at a time so I can't really guide you on timings but the cosy pattern would be easier to follow for a new beginner than perhaps a ripple pattern. The cosy pattern, from my quick look at it, is just one type of stitch called here in the UK a treble (tr), the rows look different because the trebles are arranged differently. attic24.typepad.com/weblog/cosy-stripe-blanket.htmlHave a look at Lucy's pictures in this posting, they are very helpful.

Oh my goodness, it is SO beautiful! I would pay good money for that, the colours are exactly what I would choose. I really really love it! ETA: angieh1996 apologies if you've already mentioned this, but how long did it take you to do?

Beautiful blanket -- and beautiful kitties. And now I have another project to add to my list! This blanket looks like one I'd love to do - a nice simple pattern that I can do almost mindlessly. Perfect relaxation!

That is gorgeous! Thanks for inspiring us - I just placed an order for the yarn and a needle. I'm sure mine won't look nearly as beautiful as yours, but I'll just enjoy looking at all of those beautiful colors. Thanks again!

So I always have a few smaller things going too. I hear you! Especially when it gets to the weaving in the ends phase of an afghan. I can only do 30 minutes of that at a time before I MUST do something else, so there are always multiple projects in different stages of completion going on.
