I just read this on my FB feed and came right over here to mourn with my people. I love BG, especially the original offerings. Now I'll need to be so much more mindful in using my stash. Color me very sad.

I am not really surprised. But I am sad. I do think, though, that the two collections coming out in Feb are their best ones in a very long time. Its hard to get BG collections - most of the small stores I shop at don't carry them.

I don't shock easy these days but this brought tears to my eyes. I remember the first time I picked up a piece of Basic Gray. It was scrap-life altering.
Maybe Scrapbooking is dying.

What?!
I can't even ....
I didn't see this one coming. I thought they were doing well. I thought their products sold well enough to continue selling papergoods as a sound business decision.
I love Basic Grey. I'm truly shocked, and saddened. And I'm surprised by my own genuine reaction, because of the depth of emotion behind it. I never would have thought I'd feel so strongly about a paper company.

I used to love Basic Grey. I haven't purchased anything in years. Sad to see another company close their doors. Yeah, same for me but still sad to see them go.

OMG, very sad I seem to always pick up a piece or two of lines, and rely on their Calendar Kits for Christmas presents...now what will I do? Tempted to buy a warehouse box, but I'd like some of the new lines so maybe I'll save my $$ for the new stuff (unless the boxes have new stuff in them? anyone think they'll have the new lines in the boxes?)

Oh, that's so sad! Definitely going to miss them! Thanks for posting, just went to eBay and found an old collection I've been looking for for ages. I occasionally splurge and get a couple of old lines I missed at the time (no money or not scrapping when they came out), so glad I've done that. There are quite a few I've kept in my basket, time to pull the trigger I guess before word really gets out.

What's Modify Ink? Did you do a blog post? This one feels like a blow! I felt like the opened up scrapbook design and styles when they started. I mentioned Modify Ink in a Round-Up post here It's pretty cool actually. You can personalize art, cards, party supplies, and monograms. Here's a link: app.modifyink.com/gallery/artSounds vaguely like Tom Kat that SC partnered with.

At Modify Ink, you choose the party suite (or art) and then you change the patterns and colors to whatever you want. The TomKat ones looked like you choose a theme ("teen birthday party") and then select which parts you want to buy, but you are stuck with their color choices, and only one colorway option per party, right?

I LOVED their card kits. I sold a few of them when I was destashing and now I wish I didn't. My only hope is they show up at Tuesday Morning or Ross or some other discount store like Chatterbox does. I still have a few inches of BG that I was going to destash. Now I think I need to hold onto it.

No way! Such sad news....they excelled at coming out with varied collections and there is so much I don't have!! Ugh, had a stampin up order ready to send to my demo but I'm seriously thinking I may go on a hunt for some BG instead....

I was so sad to read about this. I'm really tempted to get a warehouse box. I've never been disappointed with them in the past.

But if I see it in Ross / T J Maxx / Marshall's / Tuesday Morning, I know I will have to snatch it up quick. I think i miss it already.

I am actually using "fresh cut" papers in my wedding!
I remember when sublime and motifica debuted--still have a few pieces hoarded. It was the most influential thing to happen to my scrapbook along with Rebecca sower.
I took a several year break from scrapbooking only to return last year and see basic grey was still at it and I've bought quite a bit of their stuff. I'm so sad to see them go and wish them well.
Thankfully I've already placed my warehouse box order and I'm glad now that I did!!

I haven't been scrapping long enough to have a history with BasicGrey but I knew they were awesome-sauce. I actually bought the warehouse box a few days ago because I can't resist a deal! I'm waiting for it to ship but I'm going to try to make an unboxing video when I get it, if I can figure out how to set that up (it would be my first video!). I'll let you all know when it's up!
