I just got the email quoted below. I didn't see this coming at all - although the industry has been shrinking, I didn't see any signs of this one - and I'm gutted. I've loved Basic Grey since I started papercrafting and their paper makes up probably 75% of my stash. Sad sad day

My sister's neighbor works for Basic Grey. ETA: That is a sudden closing date. I wonder how much inventory they have left?

Oh that's awful!! I felt like they were to company with the most innovative and original patterns/colors, never mind all those people out of jobs.

Oh no, I thought they really improved with their last collections. I was hoping for a BG revival.

This one makes me SAD. I've been a Basic Grey fan since the beginning. Their style was always more adult and graphic than many others.
This is a sad day.

I loved Basic Grey early -- but not so much recently. The first years were incredibly exciting -- I still remember my first jolt at seeing Sublime and Motifica. Then the partnership with K&Co for the creation of the stacked embellishments and embossed papers -- swoon! Black Tie is still amazing -- black and white ... but every other color is also there! I adored their packaged card kits -- sophisticated looking cards, but easy to put together. But ... I just haven't liked what they were doing for the past 5 years or so -- until Urban Luxe which I saw in this year CHA sneak peeks. So, before they go, I'm hoping to get a bit of that to add to my stash!

I'm so sad to see another loss in the scrapbook world. I'll have to hunt around for one of those Best of Basic Grey paper pads for old time's sake.

So, so sad! I didn't love all of their collections, but I loved most of them! The new Urban Luxe looks so pretty!

This is sad news. However, they haven't had much lately that appealed to me, and I'll admit I haven't bought anything from their new lines for years.
Their patterns and colors used to be so pretty. I loved the Persimmon line so much that I just ordered fabric the other day to make a quilt. I haven't received it yet, but it has shipped. Maybe it was just in time, as this announcement may drive up demand for everything BG.

Ugh. I have always loved their stuff and Christmas will not be the same in my albums without some BG paper! I really thought their new lines were a turnaround after some mediocre collections (for me) and I'd been seeing more 'buzz' about them. Such a shame, and I am so sorry for the people affected.

I'm seriously so bummed about this! I love their papers! They were different and unique often coming up with color combos that others didn't have. They did masculine papers better than anyone in my opinion. It seems like we're going to be stuck with only AC "companies" now.

I've just seen the email too. Very sad - they were my favourite paper company. Always the best Christmas paper collections hands down.
