Sadly, I saw it coming. Right before CHA I preordered the Dear Heart line and received an email that only the paper items would be manufactured. I knew that their sales were down and that news was an indication to me that they were having a tough time, especially considering the line was one of their most popular in awhile. I was actually surprised they showed at CHA. They must have wanted to gauge sales - and the new lines were probably already in production - before they made a final decision.
It's really sad to lose them. Their designs were very influential and ground-breaking when they made their debut and for many years after. BG has always been one of my faves.

I have only bought the odd piece here and there from their collections over the last few years but the early collections were amazing and I bought so much more of those. I loved that they had a style that was distinctly theirs and I'm disappointed, as someone else said, that now we'll largely have the AC brands which are starting to look and feel very alike.
It's always a sad day when we lose another company.

I thought about this too. It's harder to scrap when every line is working the same colors, doing the same thing, throwing in the same random animal embellishments. Basic Grey was always there to help me step out of my comfortable box.

Losing Basic Grey is like losing an old friend! A huge loss for the scrappy world!
