I love coffee. If I could marry it and have it's babies, I would.

I agree, plus I love the sound of the first "hiss" and "drip" coming out of the machine. It's a whole sensory experience!

I never drink coffee, but I feel the same way about tea. So do British people drink coffee? I know, dumb question. And of course I know they make it, at least for the tourists, because it was available when I traveled there. But I know my mother (Australian, who also lived in England for years) would NEVER dream of starting her day with coffee. lol. Tea for her. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR COFFEE CAKE. It is... cake that tastes like coffee. When put that way, it seems quite obvious, but... Brits, in case you don't know, in the US, coffee cake is more like a cinnamon yellow cake served WITH coffee. No hint of coffee taste.

While I don't drink regular coffee (it's a flavored mix my husband refers to as *candy coffee*), I was just thinking that as I took mine, lol.

First thing in the morning is usually the only time I drink coffee. I love starting the day that way and hate if anything interferes with that ritual.

The only thing that would be better this morning, would be the A/C working. It went out last night and we are in Texas with 100 degree temps. Just waiting on the repairman! With my hot coffee. Ugh. I hope the repair guy can come soon! A few years ago we were without electricity for SIX DAYS in the middle of the summer. Of course that meant no coffee pot, plus we have an electric stove so I couldn't even heat water. I was sure I'd be driving up to the 7-11 somewhere to get some, but it was just too dang hot. Believe it or not I started drinking Coke in the morning. (we had ice in a cooler). I rarely ever drink Coke, but it tasted like heaven during that week. And probably kept me from caffeine withdrawal. lol

Regular coffee no longer gets me excited. When I get my weekly fancy coffee drink (from local Cuban cafe), then I'm in heaven. But I've made a personal commitment to not doing this daily.

We went through Hurricane Ike and the 1st thing my husband plugged into the generator was the coffee pot. Did not matter that we had no electricity, we were having coffee!

I love the whole experience. Picking out a K-cup, the sounds of the Keurig brewing, the heavenly smell and then that first sip. Simple pleasures are the best. Ditto that!

I use an old fashioned electric percolator - love the aroma of coffee perking and a cuppa nice hot coffee. I bought an old fashioned pyrex percolator for the gas stove from ebay - came in handy when we lost electricity in Hurricane Sandy and all the wicked weather we've had on the east coast since! Love my morning cuppa joe!

Now, after 17 years of living in US I've switched from tea to coffee, but, at home I still drink instant coffee. Yes, I was fooled by the whole coffee cake thing. I used to love making "real" coffee cakes with coffee frosting

Ohhhh, I wish I had some coffee right now. We don't own a coffee maker (need to change that very soon) and I am not awake enough just yet to throw the kids in the car to drive to the coffee shop. Maybe by mid morning I will be awake

From the "Coffee Cantata" by Bach:
"If I couldn't, three times a day, be allowed to drink my little cup of coffee, in my anguish I will turn into a shriveled-up roast goat."

Melitta makes a cone holder that you put a filter and coffee in right over your cup. You can get them at Walmart, Target, etc. That is as primitive as I could get. A morning without coffee is like a day without sunshine!

I left the house without any coffee. I made sure DH had cash so he could get me a cup. We were working a table and only 1 could leave at a time. He cam back with some sweet, creamy coffee drink. This was not a morning to drink to me. I want hot and black and full of caffeine. I would drink the sweet thing, but more in the afternoon as a dessert or treat. I didn't want to appear ungrateful so I took a few sips and then brewed a pot at home around 11:30.
Nothing like that morning cup!!

Oh, the downside is I don't drink coffee unless it's in a foo foo type drink. So I've never really needed a coffee maker.
