We're watching. It's fun. I am cracking up at Pea Comments re: BoyzIIMen.
Did anyone else lose sound during Hand Jive?
Is Eugene the Eugene from The Polar Express?

So far, we have loved it. I was excited to see Boys 2 Men as Teen Angel, but I'm sad to say I didn't love it.

Julianne Hough is a perfect Sandy. I thought it was cute that she is from UT since Julianne is LDS. I don't think she is an active member. ETA: I forgot about it until this thread. Grease Lightning just finished. I thought it was better than the movie. The choreography was impressive!

People are actually complaining on twitter and FB that it's not exactly like the movie?!! WTH? ah..yea.!! it's like broadway, it can't be perfectly like it. I am ok with changes, as long as they are good...ie the different characters and songs. I think they are doing an awesome job!!

We lost sound as well!
I'm so surprised how much I'm loving it. This was my ALL TIME favorite show. Bi didn't think they could do it justice. Kudos to them!
Vanessa H. has my respect. She has to be struggling, but you wouldn't know it!
Favorite scene this far has been Grease Lightening!! Loved it!

I can't believe how much negative is out there. It isn't exact, but what they have is close. I think it is very well done for all of the sets and scene changes. Love the original, and I'm loving this!

I know people who hated that the Broadway show was different than the movie too. I love it!
I did not know she was not active as an LDS member. I just remember seeing her and her brother on a list of "celebrities who are LDS"'
Did anyone else notice that Mario Lopez called the show American Bandstand instead of National Bandstand? Maybe I imagined it, but I could I have sworn it was what he said.

I watched the first 10 mns and then got a phone call and came in on the end of the dance and then Sandy singing Hopelessly Devoted. That was really good, but is that really her voice? On the NBC shows you could see the mikes but not on this one and the song was super clear (unlike some of the others). If it was her voice, she did a great job. I don't love the Danny. I don't know him and he seems so bland to me I love the rest of the cast, though.

I like the fact that there's a live audience. I think that's one thing that was missing for the other shows. No reaction even if it was a good performance.

Loved it. The best live TV musical yet. I think all the behind the scenes and the live audience parts made it better. It had its cheesy parts, but musicals are cheesy.

I missed the beginning because I was driving home from work and making dinner.
The press leading up to this said it would be based on the actual musical, not the movie. That must have changed along the way. So many things were the same as the movie and NOT the original musical. For ex, Sandy does NOT go to the dance. She sings "Raining on Prom Night." Rizzo dances with Danny at the dance and not Sandy, obviously. There are other things too.. but that's OK. Most people know the movie.
I thought the song they added for Frenchie was too long. I did not love Carlie Rae Jepsen as Frenchie. I did LOVE Didi Conn as the waitress though. That was perfection! Eve Plumb as the shop teacher too! Eve did some musical theater after the Brady Brunch. I saw her in South Pacific and I know she played Sandy in Grease along the way too.
Did not like B2M as the Teen Angel. I thought they were too pitchy!!
I actually thought Julianne's acting was a little flat. When she sang, she was lovely as Sandy and obviously when she danced. Vanessa, on the other hand, hit it out of the park. I saw her in Gigi, something the critics and some folks I know panned. Dd and I loved her in that too because she was her own Gigi, not the Gigi from the movie. Actually, dd saw rehearsals and wasn't impressed but enjoyed her on stage. I read on FB that her dad died today and she dedicated her performance to him. My heart goes out to her. What a rough day.
Greased Lightning was the BEST version I have ever seen! Incredible on every plane. Really hard to believe the scene in the gym was choreographed by the same person. That was dreadful choreography. I felt like who ever turned the audio off meant to turn off the video!
Loved the bows! Loved seeing Didi Conn come out for that especially. Wonder what other cameos there were tht I might have missed?
