I especially enjoyed the last 15 minutes from "You're the One that I Want" until the end. It was so happy and fun!

I did not recognize Eve Plumb! I laughed when the guy driving the golf cart car jumped the curb! It's towards the end. Yes, I saw the curb check. I had this vision of one of the trams overturning, because everyone was sort of hanging over to one side.

I pretty much loved all of it.. some of it seemed a little long or bland, but for the most part, I loved it.
Eve Plumb, the original Frenchie and her original 'boyfriend'.. can't think of his name....that was great.
The ending was my favorite!!
I thought VH hit it perfect.. poor thing.
Julianne danced WAY before she put out the country music.. she dabbled in that for awhile. I actually have that CD and still listen to it.... My daughters and I both love it...

I am watching one, despite my conviction that I would never support a Grease redo since it wouldn't have ONJ. So far I am really enjoying it. I like how the costumes are similar to the originals while still being different. It is really apparent in the dance scene. I agree that Boys II Men was a misfire. I think Chris Isaak would have been great instead. One of the great things from the original was using Frankie Avalon though, they should have at least cast an icon from the 70's. Maybe Donnie Osmond? That would have been a fun little homage. I admire Vanessa Hudgens, that must have been extremely difficult. I really like the casting, and Greased Lightning was great.

I love love love Aaron Tveit! We have his solo album and listen to it in the car . I thought he did a great job, and loved his Greased Lightening (I thought it was funny that they pulled the punch on the "girls will cream" lyric ). I was cool with both Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens. I am such a Stockard Channing fan, but I thought Vanessa Hudgens did a nice job. I liked the Patti Simcox enough to look her up and didn't realize until I did that she originated Eve in the Bring it On musical. Eve Plumb cracked me up. I actually kind of hate Grease, and only watched this because of Aaron Tveit, but was pleasantly surprised.

Joe Jonas as Johnny Casino. I didn't recognize Eve Plumb Or B2M. Keke was ok, but a little too much. I loved the previous Marty.

It was wooden and the acting was bad (especially in the diner... but bad overall). The chick who played Sandy (recognise her but don't have a clue what her name was) was good, but a little too earnest. I stopped in about an hour in to see what was going on and it turned into something I couldn't stop watching because it was such a train wreck. The song written just for Carly Rae Jepson was a disaster and such an obvious ploy to give her a solo (maybe they should have cast her better if they wanted her to sing a solo... duh). Mario Lopez as Vince Fontaine? Ugh. Horrible. At least the guy playing Danny didn't sound like a dying cat in the "Alone at the Drive In" movie (biggest peeve with Travolta is that he seems to caterwaul instead of actually singing). The way they did the car race was interesting. Glad they didn't do that stupid flying car bit at the end. Wouldn't watch it again, but it was fun to bitch with a couple of musical theatre friends about how bad it was.

I know people who hated that the Broadway show was different than the movie too. I love it! The stage version of the show always knocks the movie out of the park. Hollywood can never get a stage musical right... they tramp it up and up make it more than it should be. Stage plays are stage plays for a reason... just like film scripts are film scripts for a reason. They are two different mediums that don't cross very well. I've actually laughed at people who hate the stage version of Grease, because it blows the movie right out of the water.

It was very impressive to me that logistically, they could pull that show off! I thought the singers were all very good! Especially when dancing! That is a huge show to take on and try to re-do. I almost didn't watch but my kids wanted to. I was thoroughly impressed and entertained! Interesting to hear such a differing opinion!

The logistics of pulling that off on the scale they did was absolutely impressive. I'd like to know what happened with the disaster in audio, because there were so many amateur mistakes. I am pretty sure the audio drop during the Hand Jive wasn't audio's fault, that seemed more like a transmission issue. I'm just disappointed that the cast didn't seem that gelled or even that enthusiastic at some points. Just so... wooden and amateurish at times. I don't know. I guess I expect actors to be able to emote and become the characters they are playing... it just seems to lack that.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I agree that the acting seemed a bit stiff at times. I enjoyed the singing and dance numbers and agreed that having an audience improved the experience.
I thought the ending was really joyful and fun, so it gave the impression that it really was a great experience for the cast members and made me wish I was a part of it.

I loved it! Greased Lightening was awesome. I loved when Didi Conn showed up. It took me a while to realize Eve Plumb was the mechanic. I thought the cast and crew did a great job.

We were at a Kristin Chenoweth concert last night and can't wait to watch it!!
My daughter is doing the stage version in a couple of months. She is Joanie Casino.. a combo of Johnny Casino and Frankie Avalon...
She is singing Grease Solo, and they want to do something like they did in this show.. but not back stage.
We can't wait to watch it. It was directed by Thomas Kail who is on Broadway directing Hamilton. He and Lin-Manuel Miranda are amazing, I have great expectations for the show.

I thought there were too many songs added to accommodate the supporting cast, that made the story line ddrrrraaaagggg. Why is Doodie singing and playing guitar? The enhanced roles of Marty and the perky head cheerleader character, meh.
Ana G as the principal was the stand-out for me.Oh and the lady who was Blanche.

I loved it! The costumes, the sets and logistics, the singing, the dancing. Most of the acting was good, but a few wooden scenes. But pretty darn amazing for live. My toe was tapping. I kept watching their mouths because the singing was SO GOOD. I kept thinking they must have been lip syncing but some of those performances were flawless in my opinion.

Two songs were added: Two brand-new songs were penned by songwriters Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal), "All I Need Is an Angel" for Carly Rae Jepsen's Frenchy and "Maybe Baby," performed by Joe Jonas and DNCE, who served as the school dance band as Sha Na Na had in the film. DNCE's single "Cake by the Ocean" received a '50s revamp for use in the show as well.

I really enjoyed it. Julianne Hough is cute as a button. I think Vanessa H did a fantastic job. Can't stand Mario Lopez though. I am very impressed with the hair products used on the guys. There was not a hair out of place!
ETA: How old was the guy who played Danny? I felt like I was watching 40 yo high schooler Dylan McKay

I haven't seen it but in the stage version Doody sings Those Magic Changes in the movie Sha Na Na sing it , and Marty sings Freddy My Love. I love they are basing this more on the stage production than the movie. Did they include Hopelessly devoted to you? That is the only movie song that I think should definitely be in the stage play

I enjoyed it. I've been a Grease fan, both movie and stage productions for as long as I can remember. We used to act it out in my neighborhood growing up and I even went to see the anniversary movie in theaters. I think they did a good job, esp for a live show. I liked the Boyz II Men cameo, I think they were probably appealing to my age group (early thirties), which I'm guessing was a large portion of the audience. I think it's crazy how they had to be delivered to different sets, looked like a workout! Cracked me up seeing people referring to Freddy My Love and Those Magic Changes as "new" songs. So glad they included the stage production songs. I always gotta give it up to performers, esp Broadway performers. They work hard. I also got a kick out of how they had to censor certain lyrics and lines.

My thoughts: I think Julianne Hough was spectacular! I never thought anyone could pull off ONJ's role but she did it. Keke Palmer (Marty) completely overacted. Poor Vanessa Hudgens, I thought she did great considering. Danny Zuko - I don't know the actor, he sang and danced great but he just didn't have the sex appeal that John Travolta brought. I loved Didi making a cameo. I wished they could have brought more of the old cast back. Joe Jonas was great. Mario Lopez, meh.
I've seen the movie a hundred times and I've seen the play and I was so impressed that they did such an amazing job considering all the set changes, amount of material to cover and all the actors.

I dvr'd it and watched it today... I know, took away from the "live" aspect.
It was okay. I liked the girl who played Rizzo, she was by far the best. Like the show was about her, instead of about Sandy and Danny.
I'll save the recording for the girls to watch, but I don't think they'll get into like we all did the original.
Sandy was pretty good, but the rest were just blah to me.

It was directed by Thomas Kail who is on Broadway directing Hamilton. I think that is why this one was so much more successful than the previous attempts at live musical tv. He had a better pulse on what it takes to pull off a live show since he does it every night.
