Doesn't surprise me. I was in Michaels the other day and they have a lot of fall stuff out already. Not kidding-my Hobby Lobby has CHRISTMAS stuff already, aisles and aisles of it. The only thing they don't have out yet are the decorated trees...

I guess soon they will just have Christmas out all year long.

Well, to be fair to Party City, is there a lot of stuff they should be putting out for all the Labor Day parties? Didn't think so. I think for what Party City is, it makes plenty of sense that they're getting ready to bring in the Halloween stuff.
I still remember when I worked at ShopKo. It was just after Icicle style lights became popular. They had a whole truckload come in July that they had to put out! (And then, in February, in came the swimsuits.)

I thought you were going to say Christmas too! I admit I am already thinking about Christmas but that's because I am trying to decide how I will set up the villages this year and I need to prep early for that!

So funny.
I started a thread well over TWO months ago at the old 2 Peas about the Christmas stuff being out already and was giving a sound lashing by nearly every poster about how reasonable it is because people celebrate Christmas in July and crafters need to get started early. :eye roll: I'm surprised your thread has gone in the opposite direction.

Just home from Michael's and yup, Halloween decorations are in full force. My 6 yo came home with a small wood coffin to decorate.

Sheesh. Can't a girl have some time to finish bitching about the heat and back-to-school costs before having to start bitching about the holidays? Back off, stores!

Stein mart has decorative Halloween towels out now on sale. I can't figure out if they're from last year, or did I already miss this seasons selections? It's too hot here to think Halloween although lots of my plants look like dried hay

That actually doesn't surprise me much - what else would they be putting on display right now? They usually have a large seasonal section and there really isn't another major "season" coming up. Ours does "Luau/Beach" at the beginning of summer and then "Patriotic" in June getting ready for 4th of July, but after that, there isn't really another big topic to promote. There is some sports stuff, but that's pretty much become a year-round section it seems. Graduation is long gone which was another big section.

Yep, Hobby Lobby was putting out their fall and Christmas about 2 weeks ago. (Though I tend to give craft stores a pass since I start early making Christmas stuff). I guess if you're MAKING a costume it isn't too early to start?

But Christmas is 5 months from yesterday!! It's time to get planning!! LOL! I used to work in a Hallmark store, and we put out Christmas in July--the ornaments mostly.

HL has had fall/Halloween stuff out for at least a month ago. Christmas decorations came out a week or so later.
