S/I, sort of - what kinds of clothing do your kids not like?

My son wears the same thing all the cold months of the year. Jeans, long sleeve thermal with short sleeve t-shirt with smart ass comments on it on top. Vans shoes.  In the summer, he wears the same t-shirts with basketball type shorts.

There aren't any categories of clothing DS doesn't like, but he is particular about style and what he'll wear for what activities. He likes color and won't wear black.

He won't wear athletic attire for anything besides sports - he doesn't care that most boys in his class wear athletic attire to school most days, he won't do it.

His preferred outfit for school is a patterned button-down shirt with colored jeans/pants.

My younger son hates to layer anything other than thermal underwear and regular clothing.

So the year I planned on him wearing a turtleneck and a sweater vest for the holidays required a plan B, because he couldn't understand why I wanted him to wear two shirts and said he was going to be sweaty. That was a few years back, and now, I see that my kid is always warm, so he was probably pretty darn right about that particular outfit. He also prefers elastic waist pants right now, which is difficult because he is thin, and a lot of elastic waist pants aren't tight enough for him. He doesn't want any gap in his waistband. So if he looks like he's waiting for the flood, it's because last year's pants are too short, but the waist is perfect.

My older son is currently vetoing bright colors or pastels. It's all dark, all of the time for him.

My oldest does not like polo shirts. He doesn't like to wear shorts or sandals.

Oh geez! Where to begin with my daughter?
No socks with the seam along the toe. Fuzzy socks year round are preferred. Long sleeves only if she has tried them on in person. NO tights, nylons, leggings, or skinny jeans. No jeans with hems that barely touch the floor. Prefers t-shirts have some kind of pattern to them. Plain t-shirts are boring. Nothing in the hair except an occasional pony tail. No straightener or curling iron touches her hair unless I force the issue when she does a play. No makeup. Has zero desire to get her ears pierced.

Ironically, her brother who also has Autism could not care less what he wears. I have fun with him.

My ds (12) will not wear jeans. It is wind pants like Nike or Adidas or track pants from Hollister or Abercrombie for him. It's okay though because he is 6'0 and 127lbs so I don't think we could find a 27 waist 34 out seam anyways. With the elastic waists I can take them in.

DD (16) will wear pretty much anything jeans, leggings skirts whatever. Some days she goes to school in a hoodie and track pants, the next day it is a skirt and heels.

My kids, all adults now refused to wear anything with a logo that could be seen, except the youngest, she wore her high school team hoodie. They all hated Hollister & Ambercrombie. Thank goodness, way over priced & the smell in those stores makes me nauseous.

My daughter wears whatever blobby, worn drabby sweater type top with my son's tap pants from a costume he wore.

I HATE it.

Son wears what ever jeans I buy him and polo shirts.

My 6 year old would prefer to wear only red clothes. He also doesn't like jeans but that is because he has hand issues and it's easier to wear pants with elastic. He also doesn't like sweatshirts that don't zip up the front.

My 9 year old would wear dresses every day if she had enough of them and did not have PE once a week. She doesn't like tights though.

My daughters don't like to wear fur, real or faux. With all the cute colors and furry stuff out there, they just simply refuse. Luckily for me, my dear little nieces love faux fur. So for Christmas, I got them those furry house booties from Pottery Barn and watched them pirouette the night away in them.

Jeans are out for booth my guys and girls. They are now wearing skirts, dresses, slacks and cuffed ankle athletic pants.

D'S 12 doesn't like to wear shirts with collars. He will wear them if I tell him to (to church or for school pics, etc.) but he'll never choose to wear one.

If i let him, my son would wear his lego movie Emmet t shirt daily. He prefers sweat pants and no jackets, hoodies or real shoes, sandals only. Thankfully we live in a warm climate. He's on the spectrum though so I have to wonder if some things are sensory, dh will only wear sandals unless absolutely necessary too. I really want to find an Emmet sweatshirt so he'll wear it when it's cold without protest. I've seen kids wearing them but I think we got into the lego movie too late for some of the merchandise

Neither one of my kids has ever liked turtle necks. I remember when my ds was very young, just a toddler, and I put one on him (because I like them, and because it was cold). He was too young to say anything but after an hour or so I noticed he was walking around playing with one hand and pulling the neck part of the shirt with the other hand. hahaha Okay, no more turtle necks. 

I *just* bought DD (8) her first pairs of jeans since kindergarten. She's never been a huge fan.

DD won't wear anything with sparkles or Uggs.

My son is 20 now, but has never been a fan of shirts with collars (no polo shirts or button downs).
