The coat thread made me wonder.
My DS (17) apparently doesn't like v-neck t-shirts. I just learned this recently, because I was going through his clothes and commenting on the perfectly good shirts he doesn't wear. Then he informed me he doesn't like that style. Can't really say why. This was news to me.
He also wears polo shirts buttoned all the way up. Won't unbutton the top button.

My son wears the same thing all the cold months of the year. Jeans, long sleeve thermal with short sleeve t-shirt with smart ass comments on it on top. Vans shoes. In the summer, he wears the same t-shirts with basketball type shorts.

My 6 year old DS hates jeans. He begs to wear anything else.
Oddly enough, my older DS who has autism rarely complains about clothing.

There aren't any categories of clothing DS doesn't like, but he is particular about style and what he'll wear for what activities. He likes color and won't wear black.
He won't wear athletic attire for anything besides sports - he doesn't care that most boys in his class wear athletic attire to school most days, he won't do it.
His preferred outfit for school is a patterned button-down shirt with colored jeans/pants.

My girls don't like coats, or wearing tights with skirts in the winter. So they don't get cold! They also don't like jeans, want to wear leggings every day! I can't stand leggings, but could tolerate them a couple times a week. I spent so much money on AE jeans they had to have, and now they never wear them. I think it's a style thing in our school, all the high school girls ever wear is leggings and long sleeve t-shirts. The boys seem to "dress up", so that's their trend this year! The boys aren't wearing long shorts and t-shirts much this year. It's funny to see how the styles change every year!

My younger son hates to layer anything other than thermal underwear and regular clothing. So the year I planned on him wearing a turtleneck and a sweater vest for the holidays required a plan B, because he couldn't understand why I wanted him to wear two shirts and said he was going to be sweaty. That was a few years back, and now, I see that my kid is always warm, so he was probably pretty darn right about that particular outfit. He also prefers elastic waist pants right now, which is difficult because he is thin, and a lot of elastic waist pants aren't tight enough for him. He doesn't want any gap in his waistband. So if he looks like he's waiting for the flood, it's because last year's pants are too short, but the waist is perfect. My older son is currently vetoing bright colors or pastels. It's all dark, all of the time for him.

I think I have two of the preppiest boys outside of the 80's. They will t-shirts, but only surfer style. They will wear shorts, but usually only chubbies or chubbies style shorts. They live and die by the their boat shoes. They prefer to wear long sleeved button down polo shirts with the sleeves rolled up with chubbies and boat shoes. They will wear jeans with those same button down polos and boat shoes. When cold enough, a crew neck sweater is preferred, but a sweater with a that little zipper at the neck might be okay. If playing a sport, or going to school a hoodie is okay (school because there is a very specific dress code.) Within that fairly narrow definition the color does not matter nearly as much style. (ETA: I am just glad that their father finances their wardrobes. They dress better than I do. )

My oldest does not like polo shirts. He doesn't like to wear shorts or sandals. Oh geez! Where to begin with my daughter? No socks with the seam along the toe. Fuzzy socks year round are preferred. Long sleeves only if she has tried them on in person. NO tights, nylons, leggings, or skinny jeans. No jeans with hems that barely touch the floor. Prefers t-shirts have some kind of pattern to them. Plain t-shirts are boring. Nothing in the hair except an occasional pony tail. No straightener or curling iron touches her hair unless I force the issue when she does a play. No makeup. Has zero desire to get her ears pierced. Ironically, her brother who also has Autism could not care less what he wears. I have fun with him.

DS1 doesn't like athletic clothes. You know, the dry-wicking material, nylon, etc? He'll wear basketball shorts for gym or as a back up swim shorts, but not as casual wear. Shorts have to be the khaki kind - tan and cargo. He's not a fan of solid colored shirts. They must have some sort of design or witty remark on them.
DS2 hates pants with a button - dress, jeans, khakis. He prefers athletic wear but hates sports. Strangely enough, he does make his shirts match his track pants or basketball shorts.
As you can tell, neither one are exactly fashionable or clotheshorses. It makes shopping easy but yet a PITA. Neither one will wear any sort of school or team shirts. They refuse to show preference for any team.
DH hates v-neck shirts. He's not a fan of any shirt with witty or smart-ass comments on them.

My ds (12) will not wear jeans. It is wind pants like Nike or Adidas or track pants from Hollister or Abercrombie for him. It's okay though because he is 6'0 and 127lbs so I don't think we could find a 27 waist 34 out seam anyways. With the elastic waists I can take them in.
DD (16) will wear pretty much anything jeans, leggings skirts whatever. Some days she goes to school in a hoodie and track pants, the next day it is a skirt and heels.

My kids, all adults now refused to wear anything with a logo that could be seen, except the youngest, she wore her high school team hoodie. They all hated Hollister & Ambercrombie. Thank goodness, way over priced & the smell in those stores makes me nauseous.

DD never has liked a turtleneck or a neckline that is too close to her neck. She's grown now and still hates that style, just can't stand anything on her neck. The other thing she always disliked was ruffles. Her dislike for ruffles is probably payback for me loving ruffles as a kid and my mother having to make them, even though she too hates ruffles. With any luck, the ruffle love will skip a generation and DD will have a girl. Then I could make cute clothes with ruffles once again!

My daughter wears whatever blobby, worn drabby sweater type top with my son's tap pants from a costume he wore.
I HATE it.
Son wears what ever jeans I buy him and polo shirts.

DD2, at age 5 or 6, announced that she would not wear anything with buttons. I assumed it was a phase she would grow out of. She's now 17 and I'm still waiting for her to grow out of it. It's not a sensory issue, she just doesn't like the look for some reason. A button closure on a pair of jeans is okay, I guess because people don't generally see it (she doesn't usually wear things tucked in). But a button down shirt, or a polo with buttons or a cardigan? No way!

My 6 year old would prefer to wear only red clothes. He also doesn't like jeans but that is because he has hand issues and it's easier to wear pants with elastic. He also doesn't like sweatshirts that don't zip up the front.
My 9 year old would wear dresses every day if she had enough of them and did not have PE once a week. She doesn't like tights though.

My 15yo dd wears the same thing everyday. Jeans (they must be skinny jeans & all dark colors!), t-shirt and black hoodie everyday.
She refuses to wear V-neck t-shirts, shorts or leggings. I really think she is afraid to stand out.
My 12yo son will only wear cargo pants. No shorts ever! He has been that way since he was about 5.

My daughters don't like to wear fur, real or faux. With all the cute colors and furry stuff out there, they just simply refuse. Luckily for me, my dear little nieces love faux fur. So for Christmas, I got them those furry house booties from Pottery Barn and watched them pirouette the night away in them.
Jeans are out for booth my guys and girls. They are now wearing skirts, dresses, slacks and cuffed ankle athletic pants.

My 11 year old will only wear jeans. No athletic type pants or cargo pants. Refuses to wear polo shirts. And claims ANY style of striped shirts are "geeky."
I feel happy reading what everyone else is working with.

If i let him, my son would wear his lego movie Emmet t shirt daily. He prefers sweat pants and no jackets, hoodies or real shoes, sandals only. Thankfully we live in a warm climate. He's on the spectrum though so I have to wonder if some things are sensory, dh will only wear sandals unless absolutely necessary too. I really want to find an Emmet sweatshirt so he'll wear it when it's cold without protest. I've seen kids wearing them but I think we got into the lego movie too late for some of the merchandise

He also does not like long pants, but when he HAS to wear them it's khakis only.

Neither one of my kids has ever liked turtle necks. I remember when my ds was very young, just a toddler, and I put one on him (because I like them, and because it was cold). He was too young to say anything but after an hour or so I noticed he was walking around playing with one hand and pulling the neck part of the shirt with the other hand. hahaha Okay, no more turtle necks.

My youngest is 16 and the most fashionable. She has always enjoyed clothes (and costumes). She wears everything from joggers to jeans to pencil skirts. It all just depends on her mood. I used to put hats on her when she was a bald baby and she still loves them. My oldest dd wasn't picky about clothes, but she was hard to buy for. She is 6' tall and all legs. My oldest ds is 34 and for years he wanted black with no logos. Sounds easy until you try to find those clothes that also fit a tall skinny guy. He's 6'4" so even though he didn't mean to be hard to shop for he was Now he's a step dad and wears jeans and t-shirts but also enjoys dressing up and has bought a suit just because

Lord, don't get me started. He will only wear non-logo, non-collared shirts without tags, aka t-shirts. They can only be crew neck, not v-neck and cannot be any other color besides black, gray, green or navy blue. Any other variations of blue are off-limits and he will not wear any variation of red. He wears basketball shorts in the warm months, jeans in the winter. He will only wear sneakers. He will not wear sweaters. He will not wear a winter coat. He will not wear a hat of any type. He will not wear anything that will make him conspicuous. He is oblivious to labels, which is actually a plus.

Ha- my kids are anti v-neck tee, but pro v-neck sweater! I can't decipher the current version of preppy. They refer to the guys who were v-neck tees as "VNecks". It's not a slam, but also not a compliment.
They keep Cargos for camping and climbing but wouldn't be caught in them elsewhere. Lately they've been teasing their poor cargo wearing Dad.
I will now read other responses. Anxious to see what is a trend and and what's a local quirk.
Eeeeek I promise I know that should have been WEAR not WERE. Darn autofill and a dash of Friday wine!
