You know those meme's on Facebook "Be like whoever"? Today I ran to answer the phone. I don't answer the phone unless it shows the name and caller as we have a lot of annoying calls lately. Today I answered the phone. I thought ok it could be the hospital calling. I kicked a full suitcase and now have a broken toe. I am not kidding. It is a horrible shade of purple (well if you like purple maybe this colour says "you", but the toe won't bend. The good news it isn't my dominant foot.
The callers were some very special friends of ours travelling in Europe right now and they are very important in our lives. I am glad I took the call. The toe may have to be self-amputated or self-medicated tonight.
Don't be like Elannah.

Ouch! From what I understand (and I may be totally wrong) there isn't much you can do with a broken toe other than to wait for it to heal. I stubbed my toe so badly once that it turned colors and it was a while before I could wear a shoe (thankfully it was summer and I wear flip flops in the summer). I don't know if it was broken but it sure did hurt for a while and still does more than normal if I barely stub it. Get better soon!

My daughter broke her toe. ( not badly ) The Dr gave her a special shoe to wear that was about it. Unless it broken enough to need surgery, then you get surgery and another special shoe. Lol

Oh no and I am so sorry! Is this beyond a soak in Epsom salt and a job for tequila? Or maybe both

As far as I know there is *nothing* that can be done about it other than taping it. It doesn't hurt as much as my broken wrist (4 bones) but it hurts enough. I will be self-medicating tonight. If I post anything inappropriate tonight, forgive me. I will post pictures if those who want to see it are interested. I have pretty toes, too. Damn it!

Oh no and I am so sorry! Is this beyond a soak in Epsom salt and a job for tequila? Or maybe both I have both tequila (good tequila) and rum. I have daiquiri mix, too. I will be indulging. Yes, I am that stupid. Apparently I have proven that stupidity hurts. It does!

I'd think you still want to have it looked at to see WHERE you broke it. Didn't we have someone here who didn't actually break the toe but broke a little ways into the foot, and she thought it was just the toe, so taped it, but really should have had it set by the doctor?

I win Mom of the year award - KARMA. My kids were complaining about the rubber shoe tray by the back door. They kept stubbing their toes on it and wanted it moved. I said, you know it's there, step over it. That is until I stubbed my ring toe and BROKE it. The tray is gone LOL.
Hurts like the devil. It happened New Year's Eve and we'd met our deductible and oop expenses so I went to the orthopedist who took an x-ray, yup, it's broken, taped it to the next toe and put me in a post surgery shoe for 6 weeks. Were coming on to 6 weeks and it still throbs occasionaly. Could take 3 months to heal.
One thing he did say - NO IBUPROFEN. Some thing about it slows the bones knitting back together.
