OMG! I'll admit that I have a small frame and can get away with wearing a tank with a built-in bra Now that I'm pushing 50 I think I should give myself some more support so I bought a really nice bra from Victoria's Secret the other day ... it feels so comfortable when I first put it on ... after about an hour I want to rip the thing off and throw it into the street I know that I just have to get used to wearing an actual bra ... sigh!!! I still think that bras are evil ... anyone with me?

Yes, I'm with you! I'm beginning to think there is no such thing as a bra that is really comfortable to wear through a full day!

I am the opposite, I wear one all the time. I only take them when I take a shower! I sleep in them too. I could easily go without one, but I feel very uncomfortable.

I have a small frame but wear a 34DD bra. I wish I could get away with wearing a tank with a built in bra and I would trade in those DD girls for a size B in a heart beat!
I think the trick for finding a bra that really fits well is to get a professional bra fitting, and that can be done in varying degrees of success. You mentioned your Victoria Secret bra. From what I've read those bras haven't gotten that great of a rating as far as reviews go.
I would suggest going to Nordstrom and getting a professional bra fitting there. Try on some bras there and see what they feel like. You can buy one, wear it for a day or three, and see how it feels on you. If you hate it, you can return it and tell them why. You may love it.
Is it worth the price? Well like you I used to think, heck no! Until I finally gave in (I was losing weight and nothing I had fit) and I needed a professional fitting. They had me try on several styles and I found one that eureka was actually comfortable (and I have to wear the one's with wires). One time I got one that was too tight in the band and caused red marks when I took it off. I just took it back, told them about it and they adjusted the size to one that fit better. I think the bras they carry are much better quality. They are well designed and they are the same price (at least they are at my local Nordstrom) as they are online. And you can't beat their customer service.

I wear a real bra everyday. Some are downright uncomfortable!!
I usually go with the ones that don't have any lace on them. I feel like that is super uncomfortable and makes me itchy.

I've been properly fitted blah blah but some days they just sit on my ribs or somedays they seem tighter than others.....I don't know...maybe its me. My bras are like scaffolding, no dainty little triangles of pretty fabric and lace so I just think having a very structured garment tightly fitted against your body is inevitably going to get uncomfortable at some point!

My main complaint apart from the uncomfortableness of them is the straps that adjust in the back. Must have been a man who thought up that one. You have to take the whole contraption off to adjust the straps longer or shorter cause they never are the same from one wearing to another.
I did find though, if I wore a big enough bra that also supported me, they were relatively more comfortable. Man those things look big until I put it one and then it feels so much better than the smaller ones.

One thing that I am slow to learn is that when you come home from being out somewhere i.e. work, the mall, a friend's house, what have you, you CAN take off your bra and be comfortable. It isn't usually until 8 pm that I realize I am home for the evening and the girls can be free.
I had a boyfriend whose mom died of breast cancer. He would call me at 5:30 every day to ask me if i had taken off my bra yet. Every single day. "Did you take it off yet"? He wasn't being sexual about it, he just didn't want me to get breast cancer and he believed I would if I wore one all the time.

Hate 'em. But need 'em. I wear the full armor to work but wear a much less supportive one (at the Peas recommendation) when kicking around at home. I can't go without, I'd trip over the girls.

Now that I've found Warner's "This is Not a Bra Full Coverage Bra", I have a healthy relationship with my bras. I won't wear any other kind now.

A man who believes breast cancer is caused by wearing a bra is hardly boyfriend material. I get his fears but he really needs to educate himself a little. I have tiny boobies and could probably get away with not wearing a bra but I love pretty matching underwear too much to go without.

I never used to take my bra off until bedtime and now, if I am at home, the bra is off.
Now that I am heavier, my boobs are even bigger. (Thank you, hypothryodiism.) Bra wearing has become torture. Several of them have given me sores under my boobs. As well as tons of skin tags around where the band lies. I have tons of bras in my drawer in my quest to find ONE that fits without making me insane.

I'm a 38D and bras don't bother me at all. I can't remember the last time I thought I needed to rip one off as soon as I get home. I don't usually sleep in them, but have been known to sleep in a sports bra a few times so I wouldn't have an excuse to miss a morning workout.
I pretty much exclusively wear Cacique balconette bras or Victoria's Secret sports bras.

I switched to no-underwire bras a while back (I am currently wearing a 36D) and got rid of everything else. My favorites are Bali Comfort Revolution. No wire, they stay in place, supportive enough, no nip show.
I also like my Genie bras for wearing around the house but I have a headlight problem in those so I don't prefer them for workday wear.

Once in awhile when I first get a bra it takes a few wearings to "break in" but I hate being without a bra if I'm not in bed. When my boobs are sore during PMS, I wear a lightweight sports bra to bed just for the support and it helps not feel the pain.

I am inclined to think that they can feel like medieval torture devices, even though I was supposedly properly fitted.
