I hit up M's today and came home so happy with my haul. Paper flowers and enamel dots. All on clearance. Regular prices between $3.99 and $5.99. I bought them for between $1.29 & $1.49 each. (plus 20% off sale & reg items coupon)
Then I was reading on the Michael's & Martha Stewart thread (and posting about my punch deal I scored), where I saw so much hate for the Recollections brand. I felt like hiding.
I can't tell a difference between Prima paper flowers and the ones I bought today.
I can't tell a difference between big name dots and what I bought today.
Except for the price.
So, there's my confession.

Confession: I don't pay attention to the brand. I usually go with an idea in mind and buy what I like. <<----big fan of the clear mini alphabet stickers made by Recollections.

Buy what you like. You got some great deals.
I only use Recollections white and cream 110 lb card stock for my card bases. The quality is good and you can't beat the price. I'm going to be basically housebound for about 6 weeks and I'm panicking because I only have one ream backup. I plan to remedy that this week.

I notice a difference with some of their pads of paper or loose paper. But some of their colored card stock works the best in my Silhouette. I have a ton of Recollections embellishments from washi to dots to bling. If it looks like it will go with what I am creating, I'm good.

Like some other peas have said, I also use the Recollections brand cardstock and like it a lot. It's very smooth and works great in the Cameo. I buy the 8.5 x 11 packs when they're on sale (except not any more because I have all the colors and have no more space to store it, LOL). But I use that cardstock for cardmaking and for a lot of my diecuts on the Cameo, unless I need the cut in patterned paper, or need to use a 12x12 sheet for a larger die cut item (or border, background/overlay, title, etc.). I am not a huge fan of the Recollections patterned paper pads (most is too thin, and it doesn't cut well in the Cameo), but I do have a few in colors/patterns that I like to use for layering, backgrounds, etc. I generally make my own embellishments or use from my stash (which has plenty of non-Recollections brand stuff), so I don't have much in that category. I barely have any washi to begin with (don't really love the stuff), and I don't pay attention to the brand for that.

I'm not a name brand kind of girl, be it clothing, accessories or crafty supplies. I just buy whatever works for me.
One thing I've never liked is their paper. I have 65# and 80# and I just don't think it holds up to much of anything. But since some of you recommend the 110# cardstock, I might give it a try.

I can't tell a difference between Prima paper flowers and the ones I bought today. I can't tell a difference between big name dots and what I bought today. Agree a million percent on both of those. Also, most of their pearls and bling are the same as their brand name counterparts. (Although for the shiniest bling, the SU gems are the best, unless you go all out on buy actual swarovski flatbacks). That said, the Recollections clear stamps were crap. I don't get the overt hatred for Recollections stuff. It's just like with anything that has brand name and generic. Some people will swear you can't tell the difference between ANY brands and generics, some people will go with a mishmash of brand and generic, and some people insist on brands only. To each her own.

I've bought some of it. Some I liked and thought it was nice, some I ended up not liking so much because the quality was off. My major objection is that I really like the name brand stuff that I see on manufacturer's blogs, etc. and I want the real deal. We have no real stores around here and the chains no longer carry much if any of the real manufacturer's products anymore. I like a deal as much as the next person, but I want to be able to decide whether to buy the name brand or the knockoff.
Also having worked as a designer myself, it bothers me on another level that they so blatantly copy stuff that other companies have spent a lot of time and money developing.

I like them too. Not all of it because some of it is just cheap and junk but some other stuff is cute.

I fall in the I-like-some-of-it camp. I will usually buy a few pieces, but only when it's on sale.

I was one on that thread that called Michael's the Recollections store. It really is. I like a lot of Recollections things too. The cardstock is my favorite for cutting on my die cutters. I do really love the pattern paper. No, the pattern paper is not the best quality. I don't care. I don't spend a lot of money at Michael's any more. I can promise I do walk out with at least two sheets of paper every time I go in. I love, love Recollections bling.

i am a huge brand name person. I am seriously into brand names.
Recollections is a perfectly good brand name and I buy it faithfully. I buy paper, flowers, stamps, washi tape, and whatever else works for me! It rocks!

I'm not very brand conscious - I'm usually pretty lost on the threads that discuss a particular brand/designer. I buy what appeals to me and what I think'll work for my projects - sometimes it's a brand name, sometimes a store label

For me, it's that I thought some of the colors seemed "off" from the original collections.
There is no shaming here! Buy whatever you like.

Hell, not only to I buy it, I'm ISO one of their paper pads on the FSOT board here!
Good to know about their cs working well w/the Cameo. I just went thru 5 pieces of Bazzill last week because I couldn't get it to cut all the way thru. Hate to waste the good stuff that way. Not so bad w/something less expensive, kwim?

I really do like the thickness of their cardstock for Silhouette cutting. The cut pieces just snap right out. I think the quality of Recollections is a lot better than it used to be, and most of it looks just like Prima, MME, Heidi Swapp, MS, Tim Holtz, Jolee's, WRMK, Pioneer, etc. My objection is more political in nature, rather than the actual product. For some people, there aren't many other options for scrappy supplies, and that situation has been created by the big retailers like M's. It makes me sad, but I guess that's just the way of things. At least there's still something available for paper crafters, rather than it just disappearing all together. A scrapbooker's gotta do what a scrapbooker's gotta do... While we're on the subject of confessions, I still use my edging scissors, so there's that. It's been a while since I cut a photo into a circle, but I'm not ruling it out.

I said previously that I really didn't like the Recollections stuff - my MIL had bought me a bunch of it for Christmas and I didn't care for it although I really appreciated her making an effort to buy it for me. It may very well be just because I don't like or use the type of embellishments she bought me - newspaper flowers and wooden buttons that were clunky and not my style at all.
However, I didn't know they had enamel dots, and I just love enamel dots but find most brands too expensive - so this is something I will seriously check out!
I also didn't care for the cardstock, but that's mainly because of the colours she bought me - a pack of purples, and I really don't like purple.
I'm open to changing my mind about the brand, although I do dislike how Recollections is pushing out other brands I love.

I like their solid paper packs, especially the white. No shame in buying what works for you.

But since some of you recommend the 110# cardstock, I might give it a try. I second that. I was lucky there was an open package so I was able to feel the paper before I purchased (even though a pea had already recommended it) and it is nice and thick for card bases! Regular price is $12.99.
