I was making a layout and trying to make the edges of something I printed and cut out look better and I found myself inking the edges. I haven't done this in a while and wondered if it was still popular.

I still love to ink edges! I think it makes elements on a page or card pop out more.

I still ink my edges all the time!! I don't feel as the page is done without inking. Although I don't allways do it!!

Shimelle/Glitter Girl still does it, so it must still be cool. I don't typically use ink for shading the edges of my stuff but I have used dry chalk pastels for years and years. I like that it's much more forgiving and gives a softer look.

It's not complete unless the edges are inked!! Just sayin!

I personally don't care whether it's still popular or trendy, I love the look and I ink a high percentage of my edges. I especially ink the edges of tags, journaling spots, frames, photo mats & other embellishments. (Never directly on photos though.)

I ink the edges if I think the matt needs to be distinguished from the background, or if a photo needs to be distinguished from the matt. I usually just drag the edge of the ink pad around the edge of the item I am inking. If I don't discover the definition is needed until everything is glued down, I will use a journaling pen to outline the element I would have inked.
I don't often do the subtle shading with sponges like a lot of people do: Just not good enough at it.

I used to do it for card making but haven't in ages. Not sure if it's still in or whatever, but I decided I didn't really like it anymore.

Just inked the edge of a mat today. As someone else said, I don't care what's in, I just care if I like it!

I still do it. I've always been very lighted handed about it though.

I don't do it on every page, but I still do ink the edges when it needs it. I just did a page with lots of fussy cut flowers and the inking just helped to define the flowers from the background page.

I haven't really 'scrapped' for a few months as card making has taken over (those darn annual events are killers), but the first thing I do is ink things.

I don't know if it's in or not, but I do it often. I like they way it adds definition. I say if you like it do it.

I inked edges on my last two layouts after not doing it for a very long time. I always used chestnut roan fluid chalk or creamy brown. After not having done it for a while chestnut roan seemed a little dark for what I wanted. I need to pick up a creamy brown.

I still love to ink the edges of my layers. My go-to ink is the distress color Pumice Stone.

I used to ink everything, but now I do it less often. It depends on the paper and the feel of the layout.

I sometimes ink my edges in either a dark brown or grey. Sometimes the papers just need that little extra definition and sometimes I like them more clean.

I often ink my edges, sometimes you really need that extra definition. Although sometimes you don't and sometimes I'm just lazy.

IMHO inking edges became a stable technique for scrappers several years ago as part of the layering trend. Even scrappers who do not own a single stamp, incorporate stamping onto their pages, &/or make cards/mixed media art/art journaling/etc. have purchased at least one ink cube/pad for edging; otherwise, what would have been these scrappers' excuse to research & buy ink during the subsequent clear stamp trend? Perhaps because I scrap pre-/teen boy pages, I often use this technique (& have numerous ink colors from which to choose).

What I like about scrapbooking is there are no rules, in my mind anyway. If you like it, do it!
I ink the edges of embellishments and paper when I feel they need more contrast.

I don't do it all that often, but I recently did a Project Life layout where I inked everything with gold! It came out awesome!
