Not necessarily. The brand of tights I wear changed their sizing and now they are a tiny bit too big and slide down, but I wear the smallest size so there's not really anything I can do about it. I wash them once or twice and dry them on warm and then they fit... but it is a pain the first few times. I don't understand slips - don't they get bunched up under dresses/skirts? I hate when anything is bunched up. A properly fitted slip does not bunch/ride up. It may not be the same dress size you wear. A slip should fit not fit snugly across your rump. It should have a slight bit of looseness to it. If it is too tight it will ride up. But it should not be so loose fitting it has folds to the fabric either; that is what makes it feel bunched up. It can be a bit tricky to find the size that is loose enough so it doesn't ride up but not so big it becomes bunchy either. Even when women's skirts are not "see through" I can still tell if she is not wearing a slip when she walks. Skirts invariably end up pressing into the front of the legs and riding up a bit as a woman walks.. very camel toe look to it. If that doesn't bother you, fine. But know the view of someone seeing you moving down the hall or sidewalk is very different than the view standing in front of your mirror at home. (owns about a dozen half slips and wears one daily) I don't buy anything that isn't lined any more, but if I did, you can bet I would wear a slip. Slips make generally are more than just modesty, they make your clothes flow better. I am all about inexpensive clothes, but a lot of times they aren't lined. A slip will make that inexpensive skirt look like it cost so much more.

I can't even tuck in a shirt without it getting bunched up in there. Personally i wouldn't care if someone thought 'she's not wearing a slip', because it's not even a thing i have ever thought was needed. I don't think slips are a thing for my generation. And I've never noticed the thing you mentioned, especially not the camel toe part. Maybe that look is just what i think is the natural look of wearing a skirt?

I wear both nylons and slips in the winter. Sometimes I will go without nylons in the summer if it isn't a formal event or work related event.
I think pasty white legs with bumps, varicose veins, etc.. that my legs now have look much better and more refined and finished with nylons on.
I understand it is a personal preference, but yeah I will sometimes in my mind judge someone who doesn't have on either and needs to.
Fashion is fickle. To me tights are just the heavy tights/stockings that our great great grandmothers wore! My grandma used to have a fit when I would wear tights saying she wore them until she was a teenager and she wasn't about to start wearing them again! Nylons will be back and the generation that brings them back will look at tights or bare legs and go EWWWWW, who would do that!!!

I work in a pretty conservative environment and I can't imagine not wearing hose with a dress. It would be really frowned upon, I think. With that said, if a dress is sheer enough that it requires a slip, I don't purchase it. I do wear Spanx, though.

No one under 60 wears hose here. You see tights or leggings with boots during the winter, but it is bare legs in the summer. Unless you are showing dogs My dd is 16 and thinks since all the other girls wear hose in the ring she should. But she has awesome legs that have nice color (genetics) and really doesn't need them. She didn't realize that it wasn't really ALL the other girls/women wearing hose, she just thought they were.

My SIL doesn't wear slips and wears thongs. She would sit in the front of church, and you could see her thong and even the colour. She's such an ass about being told anything, so nobody tells her. She's got to have a mirror and realize that you can see *everything* even the cottage cheese cellulite. What the heck is she wearing that you can even see her cellulite?

^^^ she's probably wearing things made out of clingy / stretchy knit material. I don't think people (in general) realize just how much really clingy knit shows, no matter how comfortable it might be to wear. (that's one of the reasons I don't like wearing knits; what I'd show wouldn't be very pretty, lol.)

Knits are very clingy as are some of the light silky springy fabrics. A slip just makes those fabrics look nicer. There's a fine line between "ooh pretty!" and "damn girl, what were you thinking".
