Looking for some help from the Peas with shampoo recommendations. DD13 has had stick straight, baby fine hair her entire life. In the last year or two, her hair has gotten a bit thicker, but seems to have gotten a lot more oily, even though she showers every day. Any recommendations? I don't mind paying a little more for a salon brand if it works...

This is my 11 year old daughter as well. Can't wait to see what others may recommend.

is she using conditioner? I have fine hair that gets oily, I make sure to only condition the tips of my hair and on a weekend day I will do a full condition. The game changer for me was dry shampoo! Once my hair is dry I will spray a little dry shampoo on my roots and it absorbs any extra oil and gives great volume! 2 for 1!

I like Tresseme Deep Clean. Smells like watermelon, but it's subtle. My hair has turned oily too and I hate it.

I have fine, straight, thin and oily hair and shampoo daily. I use hair powder in the morning and I find I can usually get through the day without my hair looking oily. If I have an extended day, I will re-style with more powder before I head out for evening activities. I haven't had much luck with dry shampoo even though I have tried different brands.

My hair is still that way. I like Herbal Essence Body Envy in the orange bottle. And no rinse out conditioners. Just a wee bit of leave in conditioner on the ends. I like the Herbal Essence Split end defense in the pump bottle.

My DD had the same problem with her thick straight hair looking oily. A hairdresser told us to not use shampoo for straight hair. She said to use a volumizing shampoo because formulas for straight hair usually contain some type of silicone product to smooth the hair which makes it appear oily faster. DD now uses Kenra Volumizing shampoo and conditioner with great results.

No, DD doesn't use any type of conditioner. She stopped using conditioner after it became apparent that it was causing and even more oily appearance.
Our stylist sells Kenra products. Maybe we will ask her when DD goes in for next haircut. Thanks!

I'd recommend a shampoo & conditioner specifically for oily hair (and from the stylist not supermarket). The other thing which helped me was not washing my hair every day. Skipping days in between washes helps cut down oil production. Sounds counter intuitive, but it's true.

Her hair sounds like mine; I've been using the Paul Mitchell tea tree. Your salon may have travel sizes if you don't want to get a full size yet, although the full size bottle I buy is like $12.50 (and, if you live near ulta, their coupons WILL work on that).
Is she very active? If that's why she showers daily, then disregard this next advice, but she might want to try working down to every other day. Overwashed hair can lead to extra oil production to make up for what you're stripping away in the washing process.

My stylist told me to go with Johnsons Baby Shampoo for daily washing and only to condition once a week. The difference after about a week was amazing.

Had thin oily hair my whole life. I've tried every shampoo on the market I think but have found that using a lot of strong shampoo only makes it worse. I now alternate shampoo every other day, Johnson's Baby Shampoo, Suave Clean, Nexis or John Freida. I've also found that if I skip washing it at least one day a week my hair doesn't get as oily the rest of the week.
