Meh. Almost 15 years and I've seen one scorpion. We've been lucky. It came in with a huge shipment of boxes. We even built a new home and live off open desert and have been fortunate. No snakes, no poisonous frogs, no javelinas. There are coyotes but they are harmless. It's like spotting a deer. Cool and a threat level of 0.
It's hot here in the summer, but it's a great way to weed out the snowbirds. Gorgeous weather the other 8 months of the year. No natural disasters at all and best of all, no snow, ice and very few cloudy/rainy days. And if you want to see, or play in, snow, you drive less than 2 hours north.

We don't get any of the horrible beasts and weather that other people have to deal with. The only bad thing we are probably ever going to get is when the volcano under Yellowstone blows. But it will take out half of North America, so at least we won't be alone. My husband nearly moved us to Louisiana for work once, and boy are we glad we didn't go. Way to many big bugs. ![x_x](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/dead.png) We do get snow and ice. I hate snow and ice.

I agree with you. Unfortunately there is an increase in ticks here this year.

I can't handle bugs either . That's what's great about winter.
I could do with it a little warmer though

I'm an Arizona native and I've only seen snakes and scorpions a handful of times in my life. I grew up in a very small town and had desert within a mile of my house, too. I've seen a tarantula twice. We've had a couple of coyotes in our neighborhood - they like the chickens that are around. Haven't seen or heard one nearby in a couple of years, though.
I love the weather here and the critters don't bother me much. It's a good place to live!
