Update: my gallbladder function was 30%. Given family history, I am not currently on an immunosuppressant for my RA, and my liver enzymes, my doctor said it's a good time to take it out and is referring me to a surgeon. I have had more symptoms than I realized. What I thought was lactose intolerance is more likely the gallbladder.
OP:The glowing size of my gallbladder did not change after the drug was administered that causes contractions. It also didn't look like I had any stream of lights empty out of the gallbladder. Am I correct in thinking that is low function?
I really want this thing out. My US last week was normal. I wake with yellow bile on my tongue each morning, my liver enzymes are elevated, and I get upper quadrant pain.
I see my doctor for test results Friday.

I don't have answers, but I hope for the best outcome, so that you feel good quickly.

WhenI had gallbladder surgery, it took weeks of an unrelenting attack for a diagnosis and surgery. After surgery, the doctor apologized to me. It seems the sucker was just broken, and that did not read as important to the tests. Unremitting pain and inability to eat seemed not to matter. Keep pursuing!

My US was normal and when I had my HIDA scan, I was told to expect a lot of pain when it contracted to empty. I felt no pain and my results were that it was only functioning at 4%. I did not see a monitor to watch what was going on.
Honestly, the surgery is pretty easy and I went shopping that night (hey, my doctor told me to walk every hour!)

I had a sluggish gb with no hide scan pain. I had a golf ball sized stone. They took it out laparoscopically with no issues afterwards.
The worst part for me was the gas pain from them inflating you. I walked the halls as much as I could and made no apologies for the Richter scale farts I let out.
Good luck with your gb journey.

I felt pressure and slight nausea that passed. My US last week showed no stones. If I have surgery, I hope it's easy recovery. With my c-sections I went home on Advil. As long as it's not as bad as my brother's GB surgery. His was gangrenous and they had to cut a large incision to remove it safely.

My Gallbladder was for lack of a better word, defective. I didn't have the *normal* symptoms, which made the diagnosis take longer. Add in 2 bouts of kidney stones to throw everyone off. I had no gallstones, but kidney stones. My body is just weird & contrary.
Anyway, the valve leading from the bile duct to the gallbladder would close off & open when it shouldn't. So I'd get a backup of bile that caused terrible pressure. I wonder if that's what is happening to you, Pridemom, from what you are describing. Nothing could be done to help, so out it came Pretty happy to have that thing out.
I can't image your RA is helping anything right now, I really hope you get an answer soon & are out of pain quickly.

Interesting. That could be an explanation for my bile issues. I am anxious to get the report of today's scan. I will let you know what I find out. Fortunately, my RA isn't too bad right now. I was supposed to start Xeljanz, but am waiting until I find out if I need surgery since it would interfere. My doc found the elevated liver enzymes the week I should have started the new drug.

My brother warned me to stock up on Gas-X.

Always better to get it out when it's not in a full-on attack or when something is stuck. Hopefully you'll be able to get it out laparascopically and it will be a breeze. Good luck!
