Bizarre.
But of course we wouldn't want them "punished with a baby" as Obama has suggested.
ETA: You left this part out of your post "if the procedure were outlawed."
Without reading the article, your post is very misleading.

Well, I think men should be punished for seeking medial care that they and their doctor have agreed upon, too, then.

I didn't read it because I don't feel like clicking but I wonder how many abortions he paid for in the 80s

Jail? Lashes with a whip? Confined to house arrest?
Forced to look at a photo of Trump for 30 days? (nope, that would be cruel and unusual)
Wonder if he would punish the women who got one for a medical reason?
The man continues to amaze me--and not in a good way.

He is the walking epitome of a misogynist. I am embarrassed for any woman other than his relatives that votes for him. I can't imagine wanting someone who so blatantly disrespects women as President.
And this is the rewritten version of what I first wrote that I edited to take out profanity. Trump brings out the profane in me.

IF abortion was illegal (and I am very pro-choice BTW), then I can sort of see his point. What is the point of making something illegal if there are no consequences for it?
I get that the doctor would be the one breaking the law, but since the woman sought out the abortion, I guess maybe...

He used to be pro-choice. He only says these things to pander to the far right. He doesn't really believe it. I would be much more concerned with the fact that he will change what he "believes" on a whim just to get votes. You cannot trust a thing he says. Oh – by the way – the Bible is his favorite book. Oh--OK.

Back in the 50s, I THINK the dr. was punished/sanctioned...but I don't know that for a fact.
I am basing that on doctors being afraid to let it be known they would perform one.

As much as I am against abortion, I also believe it is not my decision and therefore a woman should have the choice. Therefore I hope we never reverse the laws.

That's the whole point of making them illegal, right? So you can punish women for having sex and exercising control over their own bodies? If it was really about the lives of children, the conversation would be about making birth control highly effective and widely available, and funding programs to make sure no child lives in poverty.
Something to think about when voting for anyone on the far right ... Trump's once again just saying what they're all already thinking.

my mom was a modest, and a christian. and public health nurse. she was born in the 1920's. my mother-in-law is a devote atheist...and was born in the 1920's. they both remembered the days of illegal abortion and were both strong, strong supporters of a woman's right to choose...no more deaths from back alley abortions. abortions will not go away if made illegal. we need to stop all these stupid laws and restrictions.

Oh, brother! I just saw this on the news and Trump was asked, specifically may I add, if abortion was illegal.... well, if it was illegal, the perpetrators should be punished. I mean, isn't that why we have rules/laws in the first place? I'm not a Trump fan but the media's obvious witch hunt is getting ridiculous. The media must actually think that Trump may win....

I just caught the end of this story on the news. Trump says that doctors should be punished because the woman would the 'victim.' Victim! I guess we can't possibly make informed decisions about our bodies. I mean, we are poor stupid women who don't know any better and must fall victim of some doctor and need protection or punishment for our actions. Can we please send Trump back to the 1950's where he belongs?
I'm really going to have to stop watching the news. Grinding my teeth is bad for me.

He specifically said "the woman" should be punished. And then went on to say that men shouldn't be held as responsible, that it was the woman's responsibility. He needs a sex-Ed course. Just before the evening news he has now issued another statement, doing a complete reversal saying that the doctor should be punished and that the woman shouldn't and is a "victim." Sorry, but when Trump issues a completely different statement in response to criticism to the first, it wasn't a witch hunt, it was Trump showing his true colors.

I understand why so many true conservatives are in an uproar. Even fiscally, he's had some pretty liberal beliefs in the VERY recent past. I think he tried to figure out which party he had the better chance of being nominated for… And republicans won. Lucky them. If he had thought he had a better chance with the Democrats, it would be the Democratic Party in this huge mess right now. BTW – for all those conservatives who will vote for Trump over a Democrat – you do not know what he will do it when he gets in the office. He is a liar liar pants on fire!

I didn't say pregnancy would/should be illegal just you don't have any need of an abortion if you aren't pregnant. And women very rarely get pregnant all alone. So if a woman should have a consequence for getting an abortion then the person who got them that way should have one as well.

It is jaw dropping when both the pro-choice AND the pro-life groups agree and join in condemning one person's statements. Watch the evening news of your choice and you'll be amazed. I had to check the thermometer to see if he'll was indeed freezing over.

I'm convinced he really doesn't want to be president, he just keeps staying the most insane, outlandish, stupid things he can think of and waits... for the shoe to drop, but the masses keep clapping. I keep waiting for sanity. Please.
