So Walker Stalker Con was in Denver this weekend and DH gave me VIP passes for Christmas. I was pretty excited, but ended up being kind of disappointed. Here is some of the highlights and lowlights.
It was cool seeing the cast that was there. There weren't many, but (I'm going to use their character names so I don't have to figure out how to spell them) the ones who were there that are still alive in TWD were: Abraham, Rosita, Eugene, Father Gabriel, Sasha, Tara, Scott (still not sure who he was), Morgan. Those already dead: T-dog, Bob, Merle, Sam, Jessie, Eastman, Sophia, Axel. There were a couple of others I can't remember. Tobias and the male child from FTWD were there as was Robert Englund. Plus a few more.
The VIP pass got us in early, so we got to walk around before the main crowd got there. We also go to skip any line to get in. There was a VIP line for any of the celebrities.
I liked the panels, I saw the FTWD guys, Eastman and Morgan, Abraham, Eugene, and Rosita. I really enjoyed the panels. Some of the audience's questions were stupid, but that was okay. I might return for the panels. I loved watching Micheal, Josh, and Christian interact. They seem very familiar with one another and very friendly. I enjoyed listening to their stories and answers. It was like a TTD, but without commercials and more panels.
The autograph lines/selfies were long and expensive. Anybody worth it cost something like $40 for a selfie or $40 for an autograph or $60 for both. I though that was a little high considering the VIP regular price tickets were $220 each (DH had a groupon or something so both of ours were around that price total). If you wanted a "photo op" with the person, it was about $60, which I might have done, but DH didn't feel well. If you wanted a picture with the living cast of TWD, it was $455. With the people who already died, it was like $250 or so. I've heard that if the main cast is there, the picture can cost as much as $700-$1000
For the selfie/autograph lines, Abraham, Eugene and Tobias stood in front of their tables and really interacted with each person. They talked to them and spent a little time. Some of the others sat behind their tables and autographed or selfied from there.
The only person we stood in line for was Micheal Cudlitz (Abraham) and I got the selfie. When I got in line, I had no idea of the cost. He was very friendly and he made me really not want him to die tonight.
Then there were booths with shirts, art, and even a place that would give you tattoos on the spot. You could enter a drawing to have Robert Englund draw something and then you would get it tattooed.
All in all, I probably would only return if the main cast was there. I would not pay full price for the VIP (nor would I get the Gold ($700) or Platinum ($1400)) and I think general admission would have been a pain the ass as the line was crazy. If you can get the VIP for half price through groupon or living social or whatever and really like the cast, then go for it. It just wasn't as good as I thought it could be.
