marykate That is a gorgeous layout! I just started loving Carta Bella. Now I know why! Yeah, they are a company that I have not particularly paid attention to because a lot of their stuff is not to my taste but I will certainly pay more attention now.

And it turns out I have several of Duncan's Carta Bella kits in digital scrapbooking format (from Snap Click Supply Co.); didn't even know the name of Steven Duncan until this thread. Oh man, I'm now geeking out over his work. That Land of 10,000 Lakes - Vintage Minnesota design? It is to weep. Here's a digital LO I made recently with his Christmas Wonderland kit: Gorgeous page! I don't do digi, but I might have to lift this with paper supplies!
I love Carta Bella. The papers have good quality and interesting designs. I had not paid attention to the names of their actual designers. thanks jtmom for the thread.

Ohhh, his designs are to die for! He's making a lot of scrapbooking paper for a company called Putnam & England, Co. and I've googled it but cannot find it anywhere. Anyone here who knows how to get my hands on those collections? I was wondering this too because nothing comes up when you Google it, and some of those designs are awesome! ETA: I just emailed him through the contact form on his portfolio site asking about it--I'll update if/when he replies!

Thanks for the information. Mr. Duncan is an incredibly talented designer, whose Carta Bella lines now dominate my wish list! On a related note, does anyone know who designed the Daily Flash lines & for which company s/he or they work(s) now? I also these lines & would like to support the designer(s) post-OA endeavors. TIA.

Since we're sharing Steve Duncan inspiration, here is the banner I made with Carta Bella Trick or Treat papers last fall. I "fussy cut" the figures out of one of the papers. The illustrations are so nicely done - vintage and fun!
Yeah, I think he has a fan club here!

I almost did, but then thought it sounded a little stalkerish so I didn't! BTW, I've always wanted to mention the I love your crazy clown avatar. It makes me lol sometimes, depending on what you post or the thread subject is. Definitely that clown could be scary stalkerish!

That show was hugely popular when I was in high school (showing my age there!) and I thought with the name crazy4scraps I ought to have something a little cuckoo for my avatar! The really ironic thing is, I actually think most clowns are pretty creepy but I've always had a soft spot for Krusty.

Because I am a stalker, found this picture on Mr. Duncan's facebook. Last comment seems to indicate that Putnam & England, Co. is his own company. link

^^^ thank you so much for posting this link! although it's making me a bit sad and nostalgic for our annual family vacation trips to Minnesota during my childhood... but nostalgic in a good way, lol!! ETA: okay, I love it all-- the Road Signs series of postcards (?), the Grain Belt Beer sign, the Holiday Motel sign in Wisconsin Dells (we see that sign every summer, lol!)... I want to know where I can buy some of the Putnam and England stuff; I googled but nothing came up. I would love to have some of them to frame!

crimsoncat05 I emailed him yesterday asking about it but he hasn't replied yet, and another poster noted that with some additional internet sleuthing it is his own company. Hopefully he'll respond and let me know where we might be able to buy some of it! I loved that MN line too (I'm from there) and I really liked the holiday line too. Very cool stuff!

He needs to get those designs on the market! They are so lovely! I bet he would make a ton of money from those collections! The FB post says that he is trying to find someone to manufacture and sell it. I wonder if he found anyone?

I thought of you all as I walked by the Carta Bella paper booth here at the Anaheim Scrapbook Expo. The salesman was encouraging people to caress the papers, and was singing the praises of the fabulous designer (Steve Duncan) of the Trick or Treat line. He was working it! I almost joined in!

Question: Do these Carta Bella papers have a smooth surface? Or do they have a textured surface, as they used to. I have bought a few Carta Bella papers, but that was a long time ago, and I stopped because of the heavy and textured cardstock they were printed on.

^^^ the Carta Bella lines switch between smooth and textured, I think. That way they satisfy people who like both types. (unless you like the opposite type of paper, like paperpilekitten)
