Pretty much all Carta Bella I have seen recently (past few years) has been textured. I actually like that about their lines; it makes them different. And the prints are still very clean and crisp. I don't buy much Carta Bella but one of my favourite lines of all time is Carta Bella Wildflower. I used the heck out of that one. I also loved Hello Again.

^^^ the Carta Bella lines switch between smooth and textured, I think. That way they satisfy people who like both types. (unless you like the opposite type of paper, like paperpilekitten ) Since I can only buy Carta Bella online, I have no way of knowing which kind of paper it is. It doesn't show in the pictures and it's never in the description, although I ought to be.

true-- that really should be one of the things they include in the description. One more reason I dislike having to shop online instead of in a store...

All of their paper is like this. That's partly why Carta Bella was created. For those that aren't aware that they are the sister company to Echo Park, they are. Echo Park doesn't do the textured stuff and that is all that Carta Bella does...that's part of how they distinguish the brands. It was a big focus when the company was launched and I would bet that some FAQ's on their site mention this...it seems strange to me that they would spend so much time focusing on that differentiation when the company launched but not mention it now when it's still a difference for them...even the most knowledged scrapbooker isn't going to know everything ALL the time, so it should be brought up from time to time. I also think they have a more vintage feel overall than Echo Park. I wonder about EP's Paradise Beach line...I own it and probably won't ever use it. Every time I see it I think how it feels so much like Carta Bella and not the bright, vibrant EP stuff that I love so much. Likewise to a couple of Carta Bella's earlier lines (True Friends, for instance, feels more Echo Park than Carta Bella). It seems that lately they have been doing a much better job at clearly defining which fits which company's mold better. As a result, there isn't much from Carta Bella that I will ever like because of the vintage and cream feel of their products. However, I definitely agree with you that Wildflower was a beautiful line!! Love the purple.

So did anyone ever hear anything back from Mr. Duncan? Nope, not a peep. I did see in an email today that ACOT has The Great Outdoors available for preorder right now, ETA May 2016.

I just learned that OA is having a blowout sale for retailers with 80% off wholesale prices, and a lot is sold out and limited quantities already before the sale, so that makes me think there won't be any new releases? Before, they used to reprint and restock as long as they could sell the collection. I will treasure my OA stash.

I went to a class with a person that works very closely with October Afternoon that said they are going out of business. Her specific words were, "If you can get your hands on anything October Afternoon, grab it now."

So sad, but not at all surprising. At least their wonderful designer, Steve Duncan, is at Carta Bella!

Before, they used to reprint and restock as long as they could sell the collection. I will treasure my OA stash. My OA stash is pretty massive, but somehow it will never be big enough! I HATE it when this happens. I was heartbroken when Sassafras Lass closed their doors (my Sass stash is almost as big as my OA stash)...WHY, why does this have to happen?!

I wonder if they'll have one last warehouse sale to blow out the dregs? I never made it to the last one because the timing was really bad for me and I couldn't get over there.

If they're offering it that cheap, maybe a site like Peachy Cheap will buy it up and resell it.

They sent an email that they're selling their paper racks and their chairs. It must be the end. I wish they would do one more mystery box. I could find room for a tiny bit more OA in my supply closet.

I'm local, so I emailed them about the chairs. I could use two more for my studio, we'll see what happens. It really does seem like they're winding down.

It's sad because the issue doesn't seem to have been lack of demand for their products. It has always sounded like terrible management.

Would you mind asking about santa sacks in the summer? I know there would be demand even if they weren't identical products in every box. I want the autumn and school lines from Daily Flash.

Any official announcement? They haven't posted on facebook or their blog since January. They don't seem to be big on announcements.

Would you mind asking about santa sacks in the summer? I know there would be demand even if they weren't identical products in every box. I want the autumn and school lines from Daily Flash. I'm betting they won't have much of anything left. They sent an email to retailers advertising a blow out sale at 80% off wholesale that ends May 30th. If they're selling off fixtures on a "get them while they last" basis, they must be getting close to the end. At one point when they closed the retail store, they talked about holding crops and classes in the workroom but if they're selling off the tables and chairs, that obviously won't be happening.

This makes me sad-I've always loved their paper weight and style. Hope Carta Bella really utilizes their former designers.
I have a a ton of their miscellaneous embellishment like stuff from their past Christmas lines-was going to sell it at LSS garage sale.

Dang it! I wish they would at least reproduce their old lines and let us customers have a chance to buy them! I would personally buy at least 4 sets of the complete Night Light and the Space line and a whole heck of a lot of Detours and their other earlier lines. And at full price!!! Seriously if anyone know where to get those lines I would love to know! They had a fabulous cloud paper in one of their first lines I would like a lifetime supply of too.
