I wore a tux to a Melbourne Cup race meeting once. It is a super dressy affair but (although it was almost Summer) it was predicted to be less than 50 degrees F and no way was I wearing a flimsy dress and heels. My girlfriends and I decided to hire tuxes as we didn't want to freeze all day. We had tails, the bow tie etc and were super comfortable and got so many compliments. I think you will rock it ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

the biggest issue you are going to have is with the jacket. Those of us with a fuller top need to be careful with fitting over the chest. Do you have a good tailor you can take the jacket to for fittings? with a properly fitting jacket and a bright, fun pocket kerchief, you will look awesome. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I have seen formal dresses inspired by tuxes. Most of the ones I see around are easy to find by looking for "mother of the bride" dresses.

Steph, go to a tux rental place and get a fitting. They have a lot of different options that I think you would totally rock.

One of my brothers bff's is a girl he had to gone to school with since like kindergarten. She was in his wedding. The boy groomsmen wore the tux and she wore a pencil skirt, a fitted white button up shirt with the vest like the tuxedos came with. She looked super freaking hot! All the single men in attendance at the wedding were checking her out! She got her hair and makeup done with the girls.

kellybelly77 just described one of the things I was thinking. You could wear the top (shirt, jacket/tails, cumberbund) either with a sleek pencil skirt, a long black taffeta skirt (or something similar), or black palazzo pants.

I was my younger brother's "Best Man" in his wedding, and I wore a tux! The people at the tux rental place did a good job of fitting it so it didn't look weird. It probably happens more than one would think. If you would be more comfortable in a skirt or tux-like dress, I'm sure you would be able to find something that could work. Thank God my brother didn't want a bachelor party, I don't think I could have pulled that one off!

I couldn't find a dress I liked for Junior Prom so I wore a white tuxedo top with tails, hot pink cumberbund and bow tie, with a white satin straight skirt to my knees. These days I'd probably do a vest. I think it looked great! Did my hair up and girly and had my nails done. I felt fabulous. And you have the attitude and pizazz to really work it.

Lets get serious here you could make anything look cute. I've always fancied wearing a tux with nothing under the jacket

I used to work in a formalwear shop, and I would say that a jacket is the easiest to make look good on a woman. Shirts are sometimes dicey if you're bigger chested, because that will usually translate into a larger neck size, which can make for a weird loose hanging collar. If you have much for hips, rental pants aren't great--they, too, are built for guys! Better to get women's black pants or a skirt and match it with a tux jacket.

I love the dress pictured above! Something like that would definitely fit in at a black tie event! Looking forward to pics!

My first reaction was negative. But then I was thinking, maybe it could look good, if you get the right style jacket and pants. Go try things on and see. I wouldn't want a cut that would make me look like a penguin, you know - that short in the front deal. But maybe a nicely fitted, longer jacket would look good?
I've never seen this look in a wedding, so it's hard for me to imagine it.
