I'm fascinated by how perfectly symmetrical some people can get them. I've never been good at eyebrows and never really noticed eyebrows on other people, until lately. I realize it's probably not a new look, but what do you think about the heavily penciled brows?

Mostly on young women. I've been filling in my brows for years but I go with a light brown that's suitable for blondes, so I can't say mine are really heavy, even when I powder them or use colored eyebrow pomade. DD is one of those young women with dramatic, perfectly groomed eyebrows, matches her coloring. Does my old heart proud.

Here's a tutorial to help you get your eyebrows dark and symmetrical

Personally, I prefer a more natural look than the recent trend of heavy make-up and stencils. However, I definitely see the difference it makes when they are colored in a bit. Defines and freshens the whole face! Occasionally I use an eyebrow powder to fill mine in a little as they are thinning as I get older.

I think she's gorgeous, but then I was Cleopatra in a former life, so... I would LOVE to see Chelsea with a little less makeup. I'm not saying she looks bad... It woul just be nice to see her and not all of the makeup all the time.

My dd has eyebrows that are on fleek. I wouldn't say they are heavily penciled in, but defined and a bit dramatic. They match her coloring.
I am another that just fills in a bit with a shade of eyebrow gel that is slightly lighter than my natural color.

I call them Instagram eyebrows. Too much for my taste.

I'm going to exit this thread before we start getting too judgey...You know what happened last time, lol. I can see that this could start going downhill.
Anyway, to each her (or his!) own!

That's definitely true in my area. I have very thin and light-colored brows thanks to genetics. I've been told I should "let them grow in." Well, this IS grown in. I haven't tweezed a brow hair in, I bet, 15-20 years or more. I do use a blonde brow pencil to add a little definition to them, but mine will never be those full, sharp-edge, dark, defined brows that seem to be the hot thing these days. Some girls do take it too far, in my opinion. I think the brows are important to frame the eye/face. But it shouldn't jump out to you harshly. I remember my grandmother's advice on make-up: "You don't want them to say what pretty blue eye shadow you have on. You want them to say what pretty blue eyes you have."

I have those kind of brows naturally, LOL. They're very black and thick, and nicely shaped. Only thing I have to do is trim them with scissors once a week. I'm finally in style!!!!!

I work in a medical office. I work with a girl that is young enough to be my daughter. I hear her natter on every .single.day. about her hair (dyed Ariel red), her skin (beautiful and flawless), her brows (artfully drawn and colored in). Seriously some days my ears bleed. I have never heard any other person talk that much about herself...
but her brows ARE stunning!

My oldest daughter also has on fleek brows. I just use a little powder to fill mine in.

It's more of the same. Red hair. Skin care. And brows for days. Lol.

I have no idea what on fleek is. I must go find out.
I didn't know another eyebrow thread went downhill. Being a person who wears minimal makeup, I am impressed with others who do it up and do it well. I would love to learn how to make my eyebrows stand out (#blondegirlproblems) but I just never take the time to search out the rabbit hole of YouTube videos or brave the cosmetics counters.

It's not the norm where I live, but since I've gotten older, my brows have thinned and are starting to go gray and really need augmentation. So I have the Anastasia waterproof brow makeup, but I REALLY have to dial it back or I start looking like Joan Crawford. I've already gone a shade lighter than I was using and I'm thinking I may need to go even lighter. I've started blotting the brush on a tissue before I apply and that seems to be helping. I do feel very self conscious if I go out without my brows done.

I prefer a more natural look, but I neglected mine completely thinking it wasn't needed since they're dark (and I always felt like Groucho Marx when I tried to do them! lol). I was wrong! I started selling Younique, and we came out with a brow pencil that changed everything for me. Not here trying to sell, but it made it soooo easy for me to get flawless brows. I love the difference it's made for me to define them. I think some people look good with the more drawn on look and others, well.... more like the video above!! I'll stick with natural!

Ha! I went to have my brows waxed before my trip to Boston 2 weeks ago and when the stylist was done I thought they were much too thick and asked her to do them again. She did them over and over until I like them. I admit I haven't had them done in over 2-3 years so it'd been awhile. I like them slender and natural looking. She also dyed them with a vegan dye to bring back some of the color. I love the way they look now, and they were the same slenderness as the stylist's who was in her 20's while I am 55.
Now I get why she did them at first so thick. Is that what is in now? I hate thick eyebrows. I don't care what is in, I never have. I like what I like, and I go by that. Always have. Well, after I was a teen that is.
Since my stylist dyed my brows with that vegan color I no longer have to pencil them in-it's wonderful!!!

Does your coworker take selfies during work? I swear she isn't even cool about...just pose, smile and snap! LOL!

I so wish I could pull off perfectly manicured brows. Most I see are not penciled in, the girls use powder or gel. I will say I am glad thick brows are back in fashion, I don't do much to mine and I wasn't in style during the sperm brow trend of the early 2000s.

I think some people are getting them tattooed on I have seen some lately that just makes me wonder what they were thinking. They are just so unnatural looking - I wish mine were darker but yikes. The ones I have seen look like the ones in the video posted above - In know people have done the tattoo thing for a while and they normally look fine but lately wow.

I have no idea what on fleek is. I must go find out. I had to google too. I have eyebrows that are non-existent. I don't care for the dramatic eye brow look.

Mine are tattooed. They've been shrinking with age and I got so tired of penciling several times a day (in the morning, after working out, after swimming). One of the best things I've ever done. Here's my before and after.

I'll second the Anastasia brow products. Mine are thin and have no shape, so I have to use something. The gel stays on really well and is the best product I've used, but definitely go light in terms of the gel color.

idahomom, that's tatooing done fabulously on brows, they look great! Imo, it's a fine line between great brows framing the face and hint of drag queen. And one should be more aware of that as one gets older Imo

I've become self conscious about my eyebrows lately. They are thinning quite a bit. I occasionally attempt to pencil them on, only to decide it looks stupid and wipe it off. I'd love to get them tattooed on, but haven't worked up the nerve to do it yet.
