My hairstyle right now is longish, about 3 or 4 inches below my shoulders and I admit, I throw it up into a ponytail or messy bun at some point pretty much every single day. When I was working full time, I typically wore my hair down in the mornings, sometimes curled and sometimes straight, but I always wore a hair tie on my wrist because about half way through the day, I would have to tie it up because it was driving me nuts. Especially when I was working a rushed deadline and running back and forth between the print room and my desk, and getting all sweaty and stressed. I think every woman in the office with longer hair had a hair tie on their wrist to do the same thing. On the days that I made it all day with it down, as soon as I got in my car to come home, I put it in a ponytail before even starting up the car; it has become a habit. Looking on Grommet this morning, I came across this bracelet that has just entered the marketplace. It is a simple open cuff metal wristband that has a depression down the center of it, designed to hold an elastic hair tie or two. The bracelet disguises the look of wearing an ugly hair tie on your wrist and also prevents those dent lines from the elastic. I think it is such a great idea! The backstory is that this woman's husband, an engineer, noticed she always wore a black hair tie on her wrist to put her hair up. And she always had the dent lines on her wrist from doing so. For Christmas, he made her a bracelet designed to sit between the hair tie and her wrist to disguise the hair tie as well as preventing those telltale dents on her wrist. Isn't that an observant and thoughtful idea? She also tells the cute story behind the name, Bittersweet. Apparently the bracelet generated a lot of interest from friends, family, and coworkers. So much so, that they applied for a patent and started up a small company to sell them. And now after talking up how ingenious the bracelet is, I have to admit, I didn't end up ordering one. The bracelet starts at $45, which seems too steep for what the product is. They also offer a sterling silver bracelet for $85. When I read the comments on her sales page, the majority of women responded the same way about the price. She says the stainless steel they are made with is driving the price point, but she could see the need for a lower-priced options well. They are in the process of looking at lower cost metals. I think this will be a good choice for Christmas gifts for the women in my family this year. I bookmarked it and hope they come out with the lower cost version before then. Tell me what you think? Would you buy a dozen for Christmas presents at this price? Here is a link to the Grommet page. Bittersweet bracelet

Those are cute, but I think the price is prohibitive for what it is. They are clever though.
I always loop an elastic around my bra strap and tuck it in, in case of emergency. (hair tie emergency!)

Not something I'd buy or wear and far too overpriced.

I keep hair ties in my purse or around the handle of the brush in my purse. Oddly enough, though my hair is well past my bra strap, I hardly ever put it up (except when I am sleeping or exercising).

I am not a fan of the cuff style. I always seem to end up poking the inside of my wrist.

I wouldn't buy it because I don't like wearing stuff on my wrists. I wouldn't buy it for dd either because she has bracelets that she wears regularly that all go with each other.
One time I was at the drugstore -- CVS I think -- and they had a "buy one get one free" sale on those packs of hair ties, the ones with a LOT of hair ties in them. So I bought four, came home and opened them all, and dumped them into a drawer in my bedroom. That's my stash. I always keep several in my purse, in the tote bag I take to school, in the tote bag I take to the hospital, and in the pockets of the three pairs of black pants that I usually always wear. I am never without a hair tie. lol

Nice idea but besides the price, it seems like it stretches out the elastic tie some. I would maybe try one for teen DD if they were cheap enough but she loses things like that all the time.
I wish there was a way to get DD to put them someplace after taking them off though. She's been gone since August (with visits) and I'm still finding those and bobby pins on the floor in different spots of the house!

It's a cute idea, but I could buy a lot of hair ties for $45! I'd rather spend the money on replacement packs if I forget to bring a hair tie when I really need one.

I have long hair and never use hair ties.
Those bracelets are ridiculously overpriced.

I have short hair but my DD has very long hair that's usually in a braid, so I always have a bunch of them in my purse. I usually wear a watch and don't usually wear any additional jewelry other than the small gold hoop earrings I never take out, so a bracelet of any kind wouldn't work for me at any price.
ETA: I did have long hair for many years and usually kept it up in a ponytail most of the time.

Same here, too expensive. Plus, I have bracelets that I like to wear. I always keep a scrungie in my purse and in other places. When I clean house, I find about ten of them lying around. My cat likes to play with them. I always like to tie my hair back when I cook and when I eat cause I don't like hair in my food so I figure other people are the same way. In restuarants when sitting in close quarters with friends, I am sure they appreciate me tying my hair back.

Does anyone have issues with their hair getting caught in those elastics, so the hair sticks on there? For that reason, I rarely wear them around my wrist unless I'm home. So the bracelet would only enhance the hair that's stuck.

Wow, I think it's a great idea and I actually like the design - I think it looks pretty good. My kids are always asking "What do you want for Mother's Day?" and I thought this would be perfect. I admit to a bit of sticker shock, but then got to thinking that $45 is high, but I could see spending it for something clever to support a small business here in the USA - then I saw that it was made in China. Now I don't understand the price tag at all and won't ask my kids for one. Wish it was made in the USA...

I've noticed that bracelet online but didn't know the backstory. Thanks for sharing, it's sweet.

I have little stashes of them all over the house and car too. And not so much because I lose them, but because they break too easily. I tend to buy the big value packages and I know they are not the best quality. luvnlifelady, I didn't think about the bracelet stretching them out, but that is a good point. I hate it when they stretch out beyond being any good, usually just to the point where going around 2 times isn't tight enough, but there isn't enough give to go around three times. I tend to treat them as a single wear because that is all I get out of them at times. Maybe I will try getting one bracelet, if the prices come down low enough, and test it before getting one for my sisters and cousins. A few people on the page commented that they would buy it for $25, but I think that is still overpriced. I guess I am cheap.

I bought two packs of 20 hair ties at Target and keep one in my car and one in my purse. I always have one.

Clever, but I'm holding out for the caffeine bracelet. It's only going to be $30 for a starter kit that includes 30 patches. It's caffeine, who needs style? Website.
Should be here soon, because after all, you can't take your cup of coffee everywhere, right?

I like the idea but $45.00 is too much for a bracelet that isn't even sterling and is made in China. It's stainless steel for gosh sakes! If it was $25.00 I'd consider it, but like another Pea mentioned there is the possible problem of the bracelet stretching out the hair tie.
I keep extra hair ties in my purse. While I thought at first it might be handy to have this when I'm not carrying my purse (like when I'm out for a walk or run) it's much less weight to pop a hair tie in a pocket rather than put this bracelet on.

I think it's a great idea, but I wouldn't spend that much on one. I could POSSIBLY pay $20-$25, but not sure I'd really use it since I don't wear a tie on my wrist very often.

Well, I hardly ever pull my hair back as it's barely long enough to do so stylishly, so I don't have a "need" for this product.
But I do love the Grommet site. I bought Bondic from them for some Christmas stocking stuffers last year and they guys loved the stuff.

They look cute (although expensive) but they wouldn't fit my big wrists. They are made to fit 6 - 6.75 inch wrists and I would need 7" +. Damn my massive man hands!

I have short hair so it doesnt interest me at all but when I had long hair I just kept a couple of hair ties in my handbag. Not sure why people have to wear them on their wrists.

I would buy one - IF - there was a way to change out the rubber band part when it gets too stretchy. Now if there was a way to do this with my Blax Rubberbands, then I for sure would be in.
For what it is, as it is? My tops price would be about $25.00

For what it is, as it is? My tops price would be about $25.00 You can use whatever rubber band you want with the bracelet. The just include one for appearance, I would assume. Now I have to look up Blax Rubberbands. Am I going to need them?

I have a lot of hair ties, some in the car, some in my purse and some in both my bathrooms. The ones in the bathroom are on carabiners, it keeps them neat and not all over the place. I put a Command hook inside a cabinet and just put the carabiner on that. I also have bigger wrists so this wouldn't work for me.

I bought the Sugru (moldable rubber product that hardens into solid, firm rubber) for my renter for Christmas. Now I have to see what Bondic is.

I have a stash of hair ties in the bathroom, the car, and my desk at work. I would quite likely forget all about the bracelet and still need to put a hair tie on my wrist anyhow.
