My youngest is Tiink. When she was 2-3 should would only answer to Tinkerbell. Now it is Tink.
When my brother and I were younger, my dad would occasionally call my brother Butch. His name is Brian. We just moved to a new town and I told the new friends my brothers name was Butch. My brother kept trying to correct me. It was near dinner, my dad (on his own) yelled out our names, but called my brother Butch. It was hilarious!!! So then they thought he was lying about his name!!

DS (16) is Nathaniel - we've always called him Nathan (my in laws called him Na-Na as a baby and still call him Na) DS2 (13) is Nolan - he's had many nicknames thru the years. First was No-No (because he was the quickest and always into everything!) as a baby/toddler. I have also always called him Nolie Spicoli (remember Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High?) lol I also call him Nolan Lee McGillicuddy because he's got my middle name and my mom always called me Michelle Lee McGillicuddy when I was little!! (Not our last name!). I just looked it up and I guess that was the name of Lucy's mother on I Love Lucy! He doesn't like me to use any of his nicknames in public now. DS3 (13) is Nicholas and his nickname is Nick For a long time he was Pickle because when he was a baby our oldest could not say Nicholas. It came out sounding like Pickolas so he because Nickle Pickle and then just Pickle. I quit calling him Pickle when he was probably around 8 or so. (When it started embarrassing him at baseball games. There's one mom from his original tball team that still calls him that occasionally and it makes my heart melt to hear it!) My grandparents had nicknames for all of my siblings / cousins growing up and I miss hearing them! What I wouldn't give to hear either of them call me Beanie again today!

I did not give my kids nicknames. I had one that *everyone* knew and called me. So much, I didn't respond to my own name in Kindergarten and 1st grade. It was not cute either. It wasn't until I was in my early 20's my family finally stopped and realized how much it bothered me.

My family calls me Mimi. Micah is really hard for kids to pronounce, so my next door neighbor that I babysat called me Mimi. It stuck. My dad called me Meem. Then my dh started doing it.
My dad also called be butterbean. He said it in front of dh when we were first dating, and I wanted to simultaneously die and strangle him.
I don't really like my name, so Mimi is fine.
My dh's sister calls him Bubba. My dh is the farthest from a Bubba that you can get. It really bothers him that his sister doesn't care about what he wants to be called.
My MIL didn't like me calling dh Rob instead of Robert. I had a music teacher that was named Robert, and he was so haughty and ridiculous. I've always loved the name Rob. Dh really liked being called Rob, so it stuck. Not many people call him that --he normally goes by Robert although he gets called Roger by mistake.
