If you look at a section of tire from this angle it does look like what it is... just we don't see it from here! Only someone working in a tire repair probably does. Look at the bottom end of this cross section and you'll see the icon "live" Well, from that perspective I do see it. But, seriously? Couldn't they have just made it look like a tire from the OUTSIDE? Lol. Or make it look like a FLAT tire. I bet we all would get that one! I assuming that some sort of engineer is responsible for this and if an engineer is involved, it seldom makes sense.

Looks like the tire pressure monitoring system warning in my car. I hate that symbol, though, because it looks so much more ominous when it lights up on my dash then just "Oh, check your tire pressure." To me it looks more like "OMG! The car is about to implode! Stop moving and call DH in a panic immediately!"

Nope. But I assume it is something perverted or dirty because it seems everything is perverted and dirty. This is where I went also. It seems like a symbol for being open to anal sex. Or tire pressure. That works too. Bwhahhaha. The first time mine came on I called my Dad and asked him what the Butt Symbol on my dash was.

Well I don't have one of those in my car (I don't think) because my car is 17 years old. I'll have to ask DH what it has for that purpose. I drive a 1999 (bought it brand new) made in Japan Honda Civic that I adore. It has less than 100,000 miles on it. It has wishbone suspension, so it takes curves like a race car-well, at least to me it does. It's a manual car which I prefer. Debbie in MD. Probably nothing. Tire pressure monitoring didn't become required until 2007.

Haven't read the other replies yet but it looks like my low tire pressure light. I have dealt with it a lot, including at least once a year when it starts to get colder and I need to add air to my tire.

::: raises hand :::: I was another that called a significant male in my life (dad) the first time that showed up on my car. I was very glad for a phone with a camera and the ability to text a photo!

I know my car warns for low tire pressure, but I didn't know it looked like that--our car has little written messages, but I haven't checked the manual to see what all the symbol messages mean.
To me, the symbol looked like an alert that your razor was going haywire and your bikini wax might just turn into a Brazilian...
The reason you have to put more air in your tires when it's cold is that cold air retracts and warm air expands--a balloon in a 70 degree room will be fuller than in a 30 degree room.
I had to learn about this while flying. It takes twice the length of the runway to take off in hot weather as freezing--you have to go farther = faster to get enough lift on the wings to take off. It's also a reason for turbulence--different temps of air moving in different directions--like boating on waves, up down, but you're not going to just fall to the bottom of the ocean.

My car just says LOW TIRE PRESSURE in the little display area.
I don't have a symbol like that.
I had no idea what it meant.

The first time it came on in my car I had to look it up in the owner's manual and agree there isn't anything instinctive about it that says "tire pressure" to me.
Just recently, I had a nail in the tire and am really impressed with how easy it was for DH to plug and fix. I had to drive a 300 mile round trip the day after it was plugged and was nervous my tire was going to blow crossing the desert but it has held beautifully.

Without reading anyone's responses, it looks like my car's low tire pressure warning sign. I only know this because mine came on a couple of weeks ago and I had to look it up in my owner's manual.

OMG! You people have filthy minds! I never once looked at that symbol and saw a butt ... but I will from now on. My poor Mini, with its indicator panel defiled ... I am shocked and appalled. I'm not sure I can associate with such a dirty-minded group any longer.

I only know because that light came on on my dash last year. Had to open the manual to find out!

Mine has both-- but I can cycle off the written warning, which is why I'm sure it also triggers the light. Be careful about filling when your tires are cold, though. As you drive, the air in them warms up. And if you park indoors, that will also warm up and expand the air. You don't want to end up overinflated, either.

The first time it came on in my car I had to look it up in the owner's manual and agree there isn't anything instinctive about it that says "tire pressure" to me. Same here. I pulled over (on a small little side street) and dug out the car manual right there. Then I called DH, because I really couldn't believe that the light-up exclamation point only meant tire pressure.

When I first looked at the symbol I thought it looked familiar but could not remember what it was. Now that I have read the comments I 100% know what it is!!! Mine also usually goes on when the outside temperature gets below freezing.

It means "You are stuck in traffic!" That light comes on when I am stuck in really slow stop and go traffic for more than 20 minutes. It made me nervous the first couple of times it came on, but it turns off as soon as traffic speeds pick up and again. The dealer said it is because of the type of tires I have, it just reads low for some reason.

It is a tire pressure warning symbol. But I still maintain that there's not one thing about it that would indicate "tire." I went today by our local tire place for them to order me a new set. In looking at the tires, they noted one looked problematic. Turns out it had dangerously low pressure due to a nail in it. The owner said, "I'm surprised your indicator light wasn't on." Well, we looked at the dash and it was on. In fact, it had been on for several days... I just didn't know what it meant. I had intended to call it to my husband's attention and had simply forgotten. Thank goodness I was stopping by there today anyway. The owner said I was at high risk for a blowout. Live and learn. I thought I'd share in case others didn't know what the symbol meant either. It's a cross section of the actual tire ( no hub ) with an exclamation meaning something is off.

I have never seen this! Both of our vehicles are older than 2007, so apparently neither has this warning system. I'll have to remember this for the future.
