I'm tutoring this evening, so all Mother's day celebrations with the MIL will come later this week. I made some sloppy joes for DH and I'll have a turkey & cheese plate with fruit after I tutor. Very laid back today.

My husband and son are both doing lots of yard work today so we are going out for sushi tonight. My husband wanted to eat out both Friday and Saturday nights and I convinced him not to so we are all looking forward to a night where we don't have to prepare anything or clean up!
Edited-my husband and son are both jerks and I am not eating out with either of them. I will likely grab McDonald's and eat by myself in the car. They have ruined yet another day.

I have the steaks I was supposed to cook on Friday on the grill right now. Baked potatoes and steamed green beans are the sides. And I baked chocolate chip cookies this morning so we have dessert!

leannec , I'm so happy for you. Enjoy every second of your day. Indulge in some wine, too. I got sick w/a virus something overnight. I'm spending my day sniffling, aching, feverish and trying to keep my sense of humor. Thursday I have a procedure for my stomach nerves. I have to get well quickly. I have been waiting for this procedure for a while and it's really important. My Mother's Day was going to be a baseball game today, NOT ANYMORE. That's ok. I will not be cooking. DH is going to make his Chicken Florentine. Oh well.

I think we're doing Macaroni Grill for dinner. Don't know what I'm having, but I'm positive what my dessert will be... lemon passion! Oh yeah... Happy Mother's Day to me! And, a Happy Mother's Day to all my foodie moms here!

We're having Burning Feather's Italian Beef on onion rolls, roasted red potatoes, cucumber, tomato, onion salad, and pineapple and cantaloupe chunks if I get around to cutting them up. I'm glad your family is letting you have your day, leannec ! Enjoy every second of it! scrapmaven , I'm so sorry you're not feeling well! I hope you're better in time for your surgery! It would be a shame to have to put it off longer.

I went to DS and girlfriend's for brunch with our kid, her kids, and her parents. It was a joint effort by all the moms. OH WELL!! My egg/sausage etc. casserole was well received. The 7yo made me a present and card at school, so I was thrilled. Tonight I am definitely making chicken & something soup. No, really. scrapmaven, I hope you feel better fast. leannec, so glad you're escaping the MD crazy.

I ordered Long Horn Steakhouse online, then we picked it up on the way home from church today. Breezed right past all those people waiting for a table on Mother's Day, the busiest restaurant day of the year besides Valentine's Day. Seriously, ordering to go is the best idea I've ever had for Mother's Day lunch. We started this about 8 years ago, so it's just a matter of choosing a restaurant that offers take-out. Kids always have kitchen clean-up duty, so I didn't have to do dishes either.

Best Mother's Day ever. I volunteered today for about four hours at my favorite annual community event, then the boy and I went to late lunch/early dinner, wandered around our favorite outdoor shopping center, went to the book store, then had ice cream and came home for a nap. In between, my older boy chitty chatted with me through out the day from afar. But dinner? Oh no. That will not happen today. I have eaten so much this afternoon that my stomach feels like it is swollen to the size of a watermelon.

The kids' dad helped the boys pick out a card and a present (movie GC). We went to church and then they took me to my fave restaurant for lunch. It was absolutely delicious, and I am really full. I had tortellini callypso, which has tri-colored tortellini with capers, asparagus, red peppers and nice chunks of crab in a delicious and very rich cream sauce. Oh. So. Amazing. Followed up with pnut butter w/ choc. cheesecake for dessert. No dinner here tonight. The kids will have grilled cheese or pb&j if they get hungry. Lisa

I'm grilling a pork tenderloin with garlic, pepper, olive oil, salt, and thyme. Also made some grilled veggies as a side.
DS and I celebrated yesterday so today I'm on my own.

We didn't have dinner. We went to the pub at 2:30pm with the in-laws and ordered pizzas, cured meats and cheese, arancini, chicken croquettes etc which we ate at about 3:30pm. I wasn't hungry after that, so I just had a cup of tea and some Hedgehog slice at about 8pm.

Dh barbecued ribs for 3 hours and while removing one rack, dropped it on the deck. He cursed, something he rarely does. So I told him to bring it inside and rinse it off and put it back on the grill. And I also told him/dd that they have no idea how many times I've dropped food in the kitchen and cleaned it up and served it back to them. That did not make him feel better hahahaha, but we ate the meat and it was delicious. I had made sourdough rolls earlier in the day and Dd fixed broccoli - and they had bought tiramisu for dessert.
Thanks for the thread.
