I'm dying to go to Cuba. We tried really hard to make it happen for our 15th anniversary trip this summed but the visa situation is still too weird for US passport holders. Hopefully in the next couple of years before it gets too modernized. Modernized? How so? ETA, Cuba's issue isn't lack of modernization, it's poverty. It's not like they are an anachronistic society, cut off from the rest of the world. Just the fun vintage cars and things that will eventually be phased out as the embargoes against Cuba are lifted. I have a couple Canadian friends who have gone to Cuba and loved it!

Yeah, there aren't a lot of vintage US cars left even now (not surprising) - you'll see mostly newer Geely and Moskvitch models.
The first time I went to Cuba was in 1992, shortly after the Soviet Union fell, and our most recent visit was 2014. The changes in Cuba in the last 25 years are huge, most markedly since Raul Castro took over.

Way too hard to decide.
I have gone to some dream locations already, and loved every one of them, but like our Maui trip planned for June, I can't call them "dream" vacations because they don't have that "money is no object" criteria attached to them.
So, although we are taking a ten day trip to Hawaii, two days are traveling, and we will only go to Maui and one day snorkeling off Lanai. We are staying at a very nice condo resort. If this was a "dream" vacation, I would go to all the islands, and stay at private pool/butler service accommodations and not be renting two mini-vans for the entire family that we are going with (parents, brother/SIL/niece and DH and my boys) LOL.
I am going to take the easy way out and say the "around the world" trip and pick a half dozen locations or so---to touch down and be gone six months to a year. I would go with my DH and kids, but I would maybe hire a nanny and tutors and DH and I could go off on our own too.
I would love to visit all the continents. (even Antartica) and just take photos, eat food and explore.

I want to visit the areas my ancestors came from. My dream trip therefore has an extra twist to it in that I don't know where the specific places are in some cases. I know the exact towns in Italy, and even have addresses for one town. But for the other countries, I have only broader regions so far, or I have contradicting info. So I have more work to do before I can go.

My reality dream (oxymoron?) trip is Ireland. We were supposed to go last year for our 50th birthdays and to celebrate being tuition free. But younger DS transferred schools and changed majors which put us behind in the plan. SO now we would like to go for our 30th anniversary in 2 years. It will probably be DH and me and possibly his older brother and his wife. I want to rent a car and drive and see as much as I can in 8-10 days. Stay in B&Bs and eat and drink where the locals do instead of tourist spots. My silly dream trip is a solo trip to WDW. My family and friends think I am joking, but I would really like to go for about 5 days, all by myself. I have been there so many times with family and with friends, but I want to go alone. I can eat wherever I want. I can ride whatever I want. I can see whatever shows I want. But mostly, I want to spend time photographing all of the little details and hunting for them. If I am really dreaming, I would pay Tom Bricker from DisneyTouristBlog to come and give me a Disney photography lesson. I love his stuff. ETA Sorry, I broke the rules and picked two. But the first one will happen someday. The Disney alone trip isn't crazy - you'd love it. I did Universal Studios in LA alone for just one day. It was really fun! I was on a 3 week business trip and had a free Sunday. Like you, I could do whatever I wanted, eat whatever/whenever. Go for it!

That's almost exactly what I'm doing for my 50th birthday! My plan is basically the same, except I want to drink beer and see as many ruined castles as possible, which I assume are tourist spots My dream trip is a week at Canyon Ranch in Arizona by myself or with my sister. I actually looked into it for my 50th birthday present to myself but it's crazy expensive. I think I could go to Ireland twice and stay for a week each time for the same price as a week at Canyon Ranch (7 nights in their cheapest single room = $12,650!)

A summer month on the Isle of Skye. Just writing and hiking. No phone calls, no obligations, no noise, no traffic, no pollution, no crowds. Just peace in the most beautiful place in the world.

I can only choose one? What is this, Highlander? I'm going to go with a tour of Australia/New Zealand. DH wants to do a cruise around those countries and see as much as possible along the way. I'd like to do that within the next ten years, but I am getting old and it's harder to travel, so I would only go if I could fly first class. I'm not sure I could cram into coach for that long of a flight at this point. I'd be in too much pain to enjoy myself once I arrived. But I don't even want to know how much first class tickets would cost. I loved that show- wish it was on Netflix! Now to answer the question, Greece would be my choice. And Adrian Paul would be nice to take along!

Drive Route 66 from Chicago to Cali in an RV pulling our motorcycle. It might happen after DH retires which we hope is next year.

Oh, I want to do the castles and those types of tourist spots too. When I said tourist spots, I meant more restaurants. I like to eat in little mom and pop places or pubs and taverns, rather than the chains, etc. DH and I have stopped at little roadside stands and eaten food that terrified our travel companions in the past, but we have had great food that way.
