I say if it looks good on you and you are comfortable, why not? I haven't tried on one, so I don't know if I would like it, but if I did and I liked it, I would wear it.

I'm sorry. I think it's cute. I bought skorts from Walmart earlier this summer and my teen daughter sent me back for a couple in her size. It's the sort that is a full skirt with built-in shorts (I don't like the shorts in the back/skirt flap in the front either) www.walmart.com/ip/White-Stag-Women-s-Skort/35590495

In fact, I just wore a jean skort recently. I like them! Now that I would not like, but a running skort, fine. I despise denim skirts/skorts/shirts/jackets.

i admit, i saw the word "skort" and got a little horrified myself. LOL. i haven't owned one of those since the late 90's and it was a bad idea (for me) then.

Linda, I have several pairs of those, I got them at Kohl's. I love them. As a teen, it's their job to be horrified at what we grown-ups where, LOL!. She'll get over it. Be comfy. You won't be alone.

It is fine. Why is she horrified? Because she is a teenager. I think they believe it is their job to be horrified by us.

Did you perhaps have visions of something more like: why yes I did. but one in red and one in beige. yes, two times wrong. wrong wrong wrong. DH always asked me...."hey what time is your tennis match Billy Jean?"

In my 50's I would wear it. Unless Disney can find a way to air condition the universe then wear what is comfiest and coolest for you. Perhaps you could promise to walk 20 steps behind your dd or wear a paper bag over your head in order for her not to be embarrassed. Gotta love teens. We don't have a choice!

I'll go against the grain and say that I get the horror. I hate skorts. BUT... if you are comfortable wearing it then you should wear it. It's like wearing dresses and/or heels all the time (or really any of the time)... I can't stand it and think it's the worst thing ever but others love it and think it's the most comfortable thing ever. I think they are nutso, but it's not my body/comfort to worry about. ITA I'm not a fan of running skorts and yes I know they are a skirt all the way around.

When I first heard skorts I thought of The Children's Place store. My dd LOVED those things when she was younger. So I was envisioning something frilly and too juvenile looking. Nothing like the pictures posted. The Billy Jean shorts are frightening though.
It's Disney. Grown ass adults can get away with wearing character shirts and mouse ears. Wear what works for you!
I do have a question, is it possible to find those in longer lengths? My legs are okay from about the knees down. Or I guess some longer skirt with biking shorts underneath? I get the chaffing problem too.

It's fine. Absolutely fine. Sometimes our kids need gentle reminders that we "old folk" want to be comfortable and enjoy our trip, too. (I just had a discussion with my 11 year old last night about how family outings are for all of us, not just the kids, and he is old enough to compromise a little to make sure DH & I have a chance to enjoy ourselves as well.)

I thought about just knit skirts with biking shorts but really wanted dri-fit/moisture wicking fabric - wonder if that is really going to make a difference?

I think it's darling! (But saying "darling" probably makes me older than dirt.) If you like it and it's comfortable, wear it! Comfort is everything at Disney.

I get the chaffing problem too. Some of Athleta's skorts come in Tall, those are a couple of inches longer, but they'll still be mid-thigh. Runningskirts.com sells a line of modest running skirts for orthodox Jewish women who run, but need knee-length skirts. The Spirit skirts have an attached brief, instead of shorts, and the Athletic style have the shorts. They are made from high quality technical fabric. I have a few of their short Athletic style running skirts that have the bike shorts underneath; they are a great company!

Tell her you'll go topless so no one will notice the skort-ness of your bottoms. hehe.
Truthfully, she is a young teen. She will be horrified no matter what you wear that is different from anything she is accustomed to seeing you wear. If it is comfortable to you, wear it!

Oh man, I LOVE a good skort!!! We leave for Disney next week and I'm bringing 2. Perfect for climbing in and out of rides, the shorts part of it provides plenty of coverage. The skirt part is short enough that it's nice and cool. I have some from Athleta and REI. Both are very nice.
I'm sure 15 is not an age where a skort is appreciated! Wear it and be proud!

I get the chaffing problem too. I find the ones from IZOD are longer and hold up well. I have an outlet near home so I'm able to get them for only about $20. I wear mine when I teach Aqua Zumba (I'm on deck while the participants are in the pool, so my typical workout shorts would give 'em a peek as they look up at me), but I've never thought about wearing them anywhere but working out.

I`m sure it`s in the owners manual that parents have the right to horrify teenagers... maybe not but it`s fun. You skort looks fine to me.
