It is cute and your daughter will recover from whatever horrors she imagines she will suffer . We all seem to have recovered from the fashion horrors of OUR parents.

I'm 40-ish and I would wear a skort (but it wouldn't look good on me because I'm chunky!)

I'm 37 and wear a skort all the time. However I can see what she may not like, the colorful stripes look very 90s to me. Maybe she'd object less if it was all black? I love those Athleta skorts someone posted!

Tell her you'll go topless so no one will notice the skort-ness of your bottoms. hehe. Truthfully, she is a young teen. She will be horrified no matter what you wear that is different from anything she is accustomed to seeing you wear. If it is comfortable to you, wear it! Thanks Elaine!

My father used to wear the short sleeve jumpsuits with matching belt that they sold at Penneys when we'd vacation. And oh yeah, they pretty much only had them in pastel colors. Wear your skort.

I cannot say enough good things about my L.L. Bean fitness skorts that I have worn every day this summer. They are very comfortable, fit extremely well, have a side pocket that holds lots of stuff, and the shorts don't do annoying things like ride up or squeeze your legs too tightly. They come in black as well as some cute prints. I have about 8 of them. And they're a fraction of the price of Athleta and Title 9.

I love those Athleta skorts someone posted! Yeah, I actually might end up exchanging it for all-black, which they didn't have in my size at the location I visited. But - the stripes won't actually show under a shirt so if I can't track down an all black it won't be a big deal.

I figured it wouldn't show but its the kind of thing you notice if someone just shows you a piece of clothing without modeling it :-) I got an all black one at Costco that I like, I figured most people don't think of Costco as a place for athletic wear :-) Enjoy your skort and your trip!

I have three skorts and wear them all the time. Mine are the ones that look like a skirt all the way around. I don't like the ones that look like shorts in the back.

Eddie Bauer also makes a skirt style skort out of their Travex material. I have a couple and have been wearing them on vacation this past week. Love them!

If it is the style that looks like a skirt all the way around then I'm sure it will look just fine. After all, how would anyone know you just aren't wearing a skirt? If it is the type that was popular a while back where it looks like shorts in the back... no, just no.

I debated on opening this thread. I leave for Disney in 20some days and I have a skort to pack. 2 actually. I was sweating the replies. But regardless, I won't be sweating there as I'm STILL taking my skorts

My 54 year old DD wore a skort while we were on vacation in Wis. recently. It looked really cute.

jennifercw, I love your update! You can also tell your daughter, next time she says something, that you see LESS of my 51 y.o. thighs when I run in a skort than when I run in shorts, and that she and the rest of the world who still has their eyesight should thank me.

I have been following this thread and watching the ladies in public. They seem to be popular here in Houston. Not attractive in a lot of cases, but they look very comfortable and cool temperature wise (not cool looking). Its kinda like capris, no one really looks great in them, but everyone wears them. I won't be buying me any to wear. They just don't seem to look that great on older-the only person I saw that I would say yes to, was a young athletic 20 something year old who looked like she was on her way to the gym or to play tennis.
