NSDH - stop turning the AC down to artic levels and then leaving because you want it to be cold in here when you return..... in 5 hours. I'm the one that has to sit here and freeze my ass off.
I'm in a super foul mood today. Anyone else?

grrr - I so feel your pain! My DH thinks the A/C should be on 68 in the summer. He sits around in sweatpants and socks, meanwhile, I'm in shorts and a tank because I'm in and out working in the flower beds and I'm freezing to death every time I walk in the house for a glass of water. I keep telling him that one day we're going to divorce over 5 degrees on the thermostat (he also thinks the house should be 72 in the winter). Makes me crazy!!!

You have my sympathy because I also live in a meat locker. DH likes to set the a/c at 68-69 and then I freeze. As soon as he leaves the house it goes back to 74 and stays there until he comes home. No way am I going to freeze my buns off while he is out of the house! I've already said that our retirement home is going to have a split plan with 2 a/c units. That way I can put my office/sewing room in one end and he can keep the other end as cold as he likes.

That would drive me bonkers. Mine would prefer it superchilled, but he's also super frugal, so he'll basically walk around naked while trying NOT to run the AC. When he's traveling for work, I'm sure most of the time that hotel room thermostat is set to Artic level temps.
Now in the winter, he loves it. Thinks we should never turn the heat on. Meanwhile, I'm dressed like Randy, the little brother in A Christmas Story.
But, you put your thermostat on whatever you want! Set a reminder to chill it back down a bit 30 mins before he gets back and maybe there'll be no bloodshed.

Oh I can so relate! My dh works offshore and they keep it like a meat locker out there. He comes home and our ac is on 73-74 and he's "burning up" but I'm still cold at that temp. It's a constant battle. And he wonders why I wear long pants and long sleeve shirts to bed every night! ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png)

Ugh, dh just got a new BIGGER window unit and I know this is going to be us as soon as it warms up enough for him to use it. I'm usually much colder than he is anyway so I'll be spending a lot of time in other rooms of the house ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg)

Our summers are pretty nice, so we keep it at 78*. Once in a while I will tun it to 77*. In the winter it is at 68*. I hate it when it is too cold or too hot.

I'm glad my dh is too cheap to run the a/c because I'd much rather have the windows open & I'm always freezing
However that also means he's too cheap to run the furnace in the winter. If I try to turn the heat in the middle of the coldest months to 72 then he freaks out! He thinks 68 is a perfect indoor winter temp - and wonders why I have 2 pairs of socks & 2 sweaters on & am sitting under a blanket up to my neck

My whole life I've been the "hot" one <<snerk>>. We had to buy a king bed so I could have my own side without DH touching me and making me all sweaty in my sleep. Now that I've passed 50 (and long after menopause at 43) I'm always cold. Now I know why old people have the thermostat cranked to 80 in the middle of summer. I might be hot and sweaty after my workout, but boy do I cool down fast now. I do prefer Arctic temps while sleeping. I don't like to sleep without covers.

That's what my parents did when they built their house a couple of decades ago -- an A/C unit at each end of the house.

DH likes the house too warm in the winter and too cold in the summer.
I am the one at home cleaning and running around getting sweaty, I should get to set the temperature so I don;t have to take layers off and on all day.

Get Nest or another programmable. We don't have it on a schedule or actually PROGRAM it We have the app on our phones so we can leave it higher and turn it down half hour before arriving home

I got a heating blanket in Houston. My boys like it cold at night and there was not enough blankets to keep me warm. Now I just flip around the thermostat and I'm happy as a clam.

You need a programmable thermostat. You can set it to cool down 1/2 hour before he normally gets home (if you want that, too).

Maybe his plan is to get you to start stripping the layers. ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/wiggle.gif)

Ha ha - I am the one that likes it cool in the house. I bought DH an electric throw for watching tv. Best gift ever!
Ever since I hit menopause, I am rarely cold.

DH doesn't want to bring the ACs up. We still have window units. Today, the house is almost too hot. It's 83 outside AND inside. Ugh. I finally convinced him to bring the units upstairs when he gets home from work. He keeps wanting to hold out until June 1 but it's just not happening.

Just like most of you, my husband and I fight about this, too. If it was up to me, we wouldn't have the air on at all (I was raised in a home with no central heat/air). If it was up to him, it would probably be set at 50. Arhhhhhhhhh!

68 is my preferred indoor temp.
In winter we just don't turn the heater on unless it gets in the mid 50s inside the house.

I'm lucky to live somewhere that it only gets too hot for about 2 weeks a year and I'm the one whose always hot, I an always cranking the ac in my car and dh is shivering in his sweatshirt. Dh wanted to borrow his parents car for the summer while they were away to see if we'd like a larger car. I was like "hell no! Their ac is broken are you insane?" And they said it's not that hot so they hadn't fixed it, until they went to Palm desert and realized that no civilized person just goes without ac in their car in California :-)
I guess ladies that are always cold need to marry guys who are very skinny and therefore always cold, lol.

I'll vent (twist my arm today ![](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ). Dh and I are redoing our backyard. 8,000 back breaking hours and we're still only half done. He keeps biting my head off if I ask him a question. You know what, buddy? I'm exhausted, too. I'm logging 20,000+ step days on my Fitbit and forgoing other things to get this done. If it wasn't for those damn steps I'd be more pissed. Sorry about the A/C. I hate being cold. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg)

We're pretty happy at 78 during the day. If I'm hone alone I'll put it on 80. But at night we like it cold and turn it down to 75.
In the winter (both weeks of it lol) we crank the heat up to 75 though.

I'm the hot one in this family. Luckily for DH, I'm also the cheap one!
He used to complain about how cold he was in the summer when I would have sweat running down my neck. He finally agreed that i could set the air low enough that I can't sweating constantly and i agreed not to laugh at him for wearing sweats in the summer.
Going thru the change did moderate my body temps some, as did the huge electric bills. I bought him some fluffy pjs for winter, so he lets me keep the house temp a little cooler than he prefers. He has an electric mattress pad on his bed, so I can turn the heat down at night without freezing him.

I do that. Before leaving for Walmart I'll turn the a/c on so that when I return and have the door open it will still be nice and chilly inside. But I'm the only person on the main level during most of the day. How would it be if he texts you when he's on his way back and you then adjust the temp to cool him when he arrives?
