I'd be laughing too hard to respond. Good luck. This would be me. I can't even imagine how much my DH would flip out.

Yeah, I could only see minimal danger of spillage with an A cup. For a not very endowed grownup, this would be fine. I don't miss all the tumultuousness of being a teenager and feeling so grown-up while still being such a kid.
I have to laugh at the most repressed and conservative mom title. I guess it's time to pass my crown to you, since my kids said virtually the same thing at one point or another during their teen years.

She's mad and I have been called the most repressed and conservative person on the planet (which should give some of you a chuckle). And she's pouting in her room. Oh well. She'll survive. I too would have laughed hysterically. Not happening in my household!

My 16 year old brain (from 30 years ago) would be thinking where would I hide my Bartles and James wine coolers in that outfit?!

I would thank her for buying me a new top that I can return to the store and buy myself something nice. Lol.
She would under NO circumstances be wearing that and I'd confiscate it to prevent her from taking it along and putting it on at the show.

oh Hell no!
I don't see my super conservative daughter wearing something like that but if she brought it home, it would be going back to the store so fast!
{mine is a 32DDD - that wouldn't cover much of anything on her)

The fact the word "vixen" is part of the name of it would make it a solid no from the get go.

I don't know that I would have to say anything. I have a 16 DD. She has a brother 1 year older, a brother 2 years younger and a dad. Dad has agreed to defer to me on clothing standards because if he had his way she'd always be wearing turtlenecks and long pants. It was hard for him to give it over to me and I know it's really hard for him to bite his tongue at times with some of the things I agree to but he's done really well.
Her brothers? They've not done so well. The day she brought home a bikini (last year) was hard on all of us. Eventually, I agreed to it but there was a lot of bellowing from her brothers and the oldest son's best friend leading up to it. I told all three of them eventually to MYOB. On the flip side, if she thinks something is really pushing it, she will sometimes ask her dad and her brothers their opinion. She really isn't immodest. The boys in this house just have very rigid ideas of what she should wear.
The top in the OP... Wouldn't pass muster with me, the boys and I am pretty sure DH would quit biting his tongue on that one.

I'd tell her, "Cute, and here's a nice floral gauze button-down to wear over it so you won't get burnt to a crisp because I know you'll forget to reapply your sunscreen and I'm not taking your blistered-shoulder ass to the ER at 1:30 in the am because you're in so much pain."

You might be repressed, but you're the repressed one w/a credit card. I would explain why it's a bad idea and why she needs to return it and get something more appropriate. She's gonna have a cow about it until she finds a cuter outfit that works. Then she'll be excited, again.

My mother and SIL bought me far worse at that age. It was horrifying.
If it were my kid, we'd be having a little chat about why she wanted to wear it, how clothes are about more than just fashion and have great impact, what reactions she was expecting, and what reactions she was likely to actually get. How dressing to impress a certain boy or her stylish friends doesn't mean that they are the only ones who can see her. And then we'd discuss how she's supposed to handle herself once she's in an uncomfortable situation. Likely it wouldn't be the first time we'd had this conversation anyway. And if she were to throw out cliches and claim I was overbearing and prudish I would have to point out that such things in no way invalidated my points and she was gonna have to make her case better than that.
My job as a parent is to protect my kids as best I can for as long as I can, even if that means from themselves. Some would argue that at that age she's old enough to loosen the apron strings but I would argue that showing questionable judgement shows otherwise.

I'm not sure what I would do, honestly. My 13-year-old mostly wears baggy shirts, but she does like short shorts. I don't think that would be comfortable for a whole day outside based on what you've described. But if that were a bathing suit, lined and supportive, it would seem more appropriate for an outdoor all-day concert, to me. My kid will be 14 when she goes to the big outdoor concert here this summer, and I'll report back on her wardrobe choices. But, I'm just going to say, if I knew what having six kids would do to my stomach and being in my forties would do to my tush, I'd tell my teenaged self to enjoy being in teen-dancer-girl shape by wearing all sorts of things I didn't wear at that age . I do want to add a barf emoticon for the post upthread about the rapist . As someone who has represented plenty of rapists, let me tell you, you can stop the sentence after "women" and that's all you need to know about what violent rapist felons think about women. The victims in my cases were young women wearing baggy t-shirts and jeans, or they were fifteen-year-old girls being raped by their stepfathers, or they were middle-aged women in work clothes, and even if they weren't, this whole rape culture "men think you're a hussy" BS drives me batty.

First, good for her for being confident enough to want to wear it. As a fellow mom of a teen, I agree with what others have said, she's probably not equipped to handle the attention that outfit will get.

maybe you can tell her you will wear it first to test it out for her then you can sit back and listen to the speech from her as to how inappropriate that would be then you can say...and now you know how I feel about you wearing it

Have her read this customer review at Urban Outfitter to you and your DH and discuss further: Nip Slips Galore Nippy Location: Niptown Bought this and when I wore it out downtown I think I had about 5 nip slips. If you're going to buy this I'd recommend double-sided tape. I was constantly checking it to make sure I wasn't falling out, luckily I was wearing a kimono over it so I tried to keep that closed. I won't be wearing this one again.
I was going to suggest gluing it to her chest, but that will create a bathroom problem.

My response would be a "HELL NO". Mine too! And my 15 year old knows it. We'll be out places and see kids in outfits and she'll say "Were their parents not home when they left the house?"

Well, I used to wear stuff similar to that (maybe not cut allll the way down to there though) way way back in the day, all 105 pounds of me. Or a bikini top and cut offs to outdoor music festivals. That said, to be honest, if it was my daughter I'd probably ask her to choose something else....and hope that she doesn't just change into it or something similar once she gets there
