Actually try to counsel her against it because 1. She will get (sun)burned to a crisp in that thing, and 2. How on earth will she pee wearing that? I mean, have you ever seen the bathrooms at those big concerts? GROSS. And you want to try and maneuver a bodysuit in one of those porta-potties? Completely impractical.

That would be a no! But I just never liked that style of shirt. When they show women in dresses at the Grammys and women wear that type of dress, I never like it on them either. Again, not a style I think is attractive. Just my opinion. But if my 18 yr. old wore it, I would keep my mouth closed. But it's not my business if anyone else wears it whether they are 15 or 75. But there are many styles (skinny jeans) that my kids wear, and I couldn't stand until they had been wearing them for a couple years and they grew on me.

My 16yo DD would totally try this. My response would be HELL NAW, ain't happening.
She bought a pair of shorts with her own money on a day a the mall with friends…I don't let her wear them out of the house and it's a constant battle - they look like bathing suit bottoms! So DH was looking for something under the bed last night and found where I had stuffed the shorts between some crap under there (she hasn't noticed they're missing, BTW). He pulled them out and asked what they were doing there - I said those are THOSE shorts! Realization dawned on his face and he crammed them back under the bed LOL.

And announces her intention to wear it to an outdoor music festival this weekend. What is your response? I also have a 15 yo DD, and no - no she would not be wearing that! Infact, I'd take her to return it so I know she wouldn't be seen in it. Sorry, this age is difficult!

Do you really think that even if you ban it she won't wear it? I know she won't wear it because it's going back to the store today, and I will watch her return it. She's got all of her twenties to dress like a hooker. We don't need to start now.

Just from a practical standpoint, there's no way! I've been to that same festival every year up until this year, and no way in hell I'd be in a bodysuit in 184 degree weather trying to use the port o potty! Just yuk. I'd probably be ok with a 2 piece swimsuit and shorts with a kimono worn over it though. That seemed to be the outfit du jour among the younger set at the Flaming Lips show last weekend and I didn't clutch my pearls once! Smartypants, I shared your post with her. Now I have to take her shopping for a kimono. I don't have a problem with her wearing her bikini top, which is lined and designed to stay in place, and a pair of shorts. It also just doesn't seem as overtly sexy to me, even though more skin is showing. Maybe that's weird ... Of course not my child.. but I had a similar thought.. I would not think twice if she was in a bikini top. Though I would think about the sun burn issues. My kid at 13 just doesn't reapply enough when she is out all day. Good luck finding the Kimono there are a lot of cute ones out there.

But it will also be five billion degrees and humid on Saturday, so getting her to stay completely covered up is unlikely. I wonder if I can convince her that a parasol would be a nice accessory ...

"VIXEN bodysuit" Teach her what the world vixen means.
And *fuck no*
and *fuck no* to the shorts too.
My husband has an 11 year old granddaughter and we take her clothes shopping a couple times a year. I have to teach her how to dress appropriately because she's short and chubby and so things don't fit her very well. Once she held up a pair of shorts to her grandpa to get his opinion and he was all "HELL NO" in the middle of the store. LOL. We had to teach her how some clothes was "advertising" your assets and that she was too young to be advertising to boys what she had available.

And here she would need the umbrella not for sun but for all the continued rain .... so over it! Hope she has a great time at the festival

Thanks all for the validation. No, it is not lined, and she is a B/C cup, so not flat. My response was similar to several here - started with hysterical laughing and ended with hell, no. She's mad and I have been called the most repressed and conservative person on the planet (which should give some of you a chuckle). And she's pouting in her room. Oh well. most repressed and conservative person on the planet - that is a great Mom title. Congratulations! I wonder if she practiced those before she came home, knowing the type of response she might get!
My answer would have been No, and if you don't like my answer ask your Dad. His reaction would have been much stronger!

... so how sunburned was your DD when she got home yesterday? My DS and his friends put on sunscreen before they left (and took the bottle with them) but in their infinite wisdom decided to hit Walmart on their way to the fest for some tank tops to wear. Oops, skin that wasn't "sunscreened" and enough sun even with the clouds and rain (and these are smart kids who should know that cloudy sunburns can and will sneak up on you here) made for an aloe gel party last night after showers. They're still sleeping before heading out for round 2 today.

They're still sleeping before heading out for round 2 today. She ended up wearing a v-neck t-shirt and shorts and managed to apply sunscreen to her arms and legs, but somehow forgot her face and neck/chest. Or so it appears, because that's where she is burned. I wish they weren't going back today because she doesn't need to get any more burned ...

Dear RefuPea Moms, I love your responses on this thread. I apologize for giggling. Pretty spring dress season brings a twinge of shopping envy since I only have sons. Now I'll just be glad my clothing arguments are: -Take off the hat. -You have to wear pants, not shorts, because you are not twelve.

He works in a law office, but they are pretty casual and he wear shorts to work most days.
