Sick, sick people. How can anyone leave a child they so desperately wanted. I hope kharma screws them real good.

I am however, thankful that funds are being raised for this child, and I hope that some of the funds may be used to facilitate an adoption by a forever family. This is what I'm hoping too.

Absolutely disgusting. My only question - I thought they checked for downs when they select which embryos to implant?

That poor child. I think it's very sad the twins have been separated.

It's very sad.
However it takes very special people to parent special needs children. Obviously they could not do it. The baby is better off not in an abusive or neglectful situation.

I hope another family who is ready and willing and capable of raising him comes along and adopts him. I have to say though, that the parents should have had an EXTREMELY detailed contract with their surrogate. Clearly they were okay with and decided to terminate in the case that there was something medically wrong with their child. And obviously, their surrogate was not okay with that decision. This is something that all 3 parties should have a conversation about and agree to BEFORE the surrogate gets pregnant. This sad situation should have never happened, and could have been completely avoided if they would have had a simple conversation and made sure that their beliefs were in line with their surrogate's. They could have taken the time to learn that their surrogate was against abortion, and they could have made the choice to go with someone different. (I admit that I did not click on the article, and am simply posting based on what I read in the OP. If in the article it states that they did have all of that ironed out, my apologies, that is a different situation).

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk There are more details in the whole article-- surrogacy is Thailand is not legal unless the surrogate is related to the parents and no money changes hands, so I would guess the medical oversight for this case was probably not as strict as it might be elsewhere. And by "not as strict" I mean "virtually nonexistent."

Oh, this is such a sad situation. I feel so bad for this poor baby. I hope someone who can love him will adopt him.

This makes me livid. Two of my close friends have children with Down Syndrome. I can't imagine leaving my own child to die. I wonder how the twin will feel when she finds out her parents abandoned her brother.

Thank goodness for the decent people who have contributed to this child's fund. This isn't the first time that a surrogate baby with specific needs had been abandoned by its genetic parents. I imagine it won't be the last.

I was horrified when I heard this, what sort of parents can do such a thing. I've tried to work out of why they would have taken this action, but for the life of me I can't think of one descent reason. I'd like to hear it if they have one.
I wonder what the girl will think as she grows up and finds out what her parents did. I wonder how the rest of their families feel about it. And it would be interesting to know how their friends and neighbours are handling it.
Their names haven't been mentioned on the media, but I'd hate to be in their shoes right now, with the backlash they must be already getting from people who know who they are.
I hope the poor little fellow is adopted by some decent parents.

That's terribly sad.
So the parents only wanted perfect babies.
And what happens to their perfect daughter if in five years time she suffers a tragic accident and is left disabled in some capacity? Will they abandon her then because she is no longer perfect?
My heart aches for the little baby boy, and for the baby girl, growing up with parents like that.

I heard about this on the news here earlier. It's absolutely appalling what these so called parents have done. Kudos for the staff of the Australian Embassy in Bangkok for highlighting this and starting the fund. Human trafficking, and in my opinion that's what this is, has to stop. If one was that desperate in wanting a baby then you don't pick and choose the "perfect" one and toss the other aside in the same way as you would toss the bruised apple at the store. They should have realized before they looked for a surrogate in a Buddhist country that an abortion wouldn't have been an option for them if nature happened not to produce, in their eyes, that " perfect" child.

I was reading this earlier and was shocked and saddened by the story. Hopefully the Australian embassy organised fund for the baby will carry on growing so that the baby will have all the medical treatment he needs. I too don't know how the couple can live with themselves!
