I thought it was so well done! I really think the actress playing Claire is dead on. She's beautiful and classy and so believable in that role. I loved how they showed her and Frank so happy together so you can understand her mental struggle later on... can't wait for the next episode.

I stayed up and watched it at midnight and then watched it again with my husband yesterday afternoon. He loved it! Yay! and can't wait for the next episode. I thought it was awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by Caitriona's acting. She really nailed Claire. She showed how intelligent and tough Claire is.

I loved it. I've read the series twice, but it's been a couple of years and the first book is rather a muddle to me now, which was great for me, as I wasn't watching and waiting for certain scenes to appear. It was so well done! Can't wait for the next episode!

I watched it last night. I thought I would enjoy it, but I have to say that I won't be subscribing to Starz for it. I never read the books, but I know how much many people love them so I was hoping it might be the next 'Game of Thrones'. To me the first episode was pretty dull though beautifully filmed. I'm curious to know what other non-book readers thought of it.

I enjoyed it. I thought the first one was a little slow, but just like the first few chapters of the book. They had to set the story with that information. I can't wait for the next episode!

I watched it On Demand on Starz last night and really loved it. The thing with On Demand for me is it only shows it on SD and only on half of the TV's screen. I cannot wait until Saturday when I get to see it in HD and it stretches all across the screen. I know, a minor detail. But I am very detail oriented.
Other than that it was incredible! It followed the book very well I thought, and the scenery was gorgeous, especially the scene of the circle of stones with the droid women doing the circle dance and the sun coming up. I can't wait to see the next episode and plan to record each one so I can see them all again in HD.

I haven't finished the first book yet. Should I do do before watching the show? I think as long as you're past the point in the book where Claire and Jaime arrive at Castle Leoch nothing will be spoiled for you. The next episode won't air until 8/16 so you have some time to read more.

I watched it yesterday afternoon and LOVED it. Can't wait to see the rest of the season. DH even said he'd like to watch it so there'll be a second airing in our house this week. Woot!

The first few chapters of the book were kind of slow, but well worth sticking it out. I think the first episode of the show was similar--it's setting it all up. I read the first book about 3 years ago, so it's not so fresh in my mind that I am constantly comparing it, which is good. I was thrilled to watch it, and can't wait for the next episode. Must get Starz before then!

Ended far too soon!

I haven't read the books but have heard the peas rave about them for years. I watched the first episode and LOVED it!!! But I don't have Starz. Why oh why did I watch it??? Now I am debating signing up for Starz. Talk me into it peas! What else does that channel have that will make $14 a month seem worth it?

I watched last night and thought it was great! I liked the fact that they chose not to subtitle when the characters were speaking Gaelic. I also liked the fact that Claire isn't a "conventional" beauty but has such a presence. She is a dirty girl, though. Ha ha! Jamie is smokin' hot even covered in blood and mud. Perfect casting.

I watched it yesterday and loved it. It's been years since I read the books, so there are a lot of details that I don't remember. I am looking forward to watching this series, can't wait for the next episode.

Outlander Facebook groups are getting all riled up over people 'criticizing' the first episode, the actors, etc.
I think it's the norm for readers of books that are adapted to notice disparities and want to discuss them. Well, I keep seeing vehement warnings and complaints about this type of discussion. People getting their panties in a wad!
I thought Catriona did a really good job with Claire's character. I didn't think she looked like 'my Claire', but boy, can she act! She walks like a dancer, I noticed. Very graceful.

That's a hilarious commercial!
Another scene that I remember from the first episode and a part I always loved in the book is Claire's favourite curse "Jesus Bloody Roosevelt Christ" I think that's how it goes. The book is upstairs. I loved how she uttered that when she was dressing Jamie's wounds and the men were all standing around gawking at her and saying how they'd never heard a woman speak like that before.
