I'm going to Costco. Dinner will be Costco Pizza. Tmw night dinner w/be chicken soup w/my Costco roast chicken. Woohoo. Today we have some mysteries to solve. Is lucyg going to use her ground beef? Unlike scotch, ground beef doesn't age well. What will Trixie Bender make for dessert? Have a great day everyone. What's on your menu?

Picky #1 aka Dd#1 aka Emma requested that I make homemade Fettuccine Alfredo the other day ... I'm feeling in a giving mood today so I'll be making that Dh, of course, needs some sort of protein with every meal so I'll get him to grill up a couple of boneless skinless chicken breasts that I'll marinate in my homemade Greek marinade I could say that there would be veggies but I'd be lying

ha ha. Last night I made a cheeseburger, and it was so good, I might make another one tonight. Whatever ground beef is leftover will be cooked with onion and garlic, then frozen. Maybe I'll add taco seasoning, too. I also wanted to tell you, you scrapmaven appeared in my dreams last night. You were tall and youthful and beautiful and quite nice, but you were paranoid and refused to tell me your real name, so I was forced to introduce you to my mom (who was also there, along with some peas, but at least they understood about the name thing) as scrapmaven. I don't know who the other peas were. Oh yeah, my DD was there, too, and she just rolled her eyes at me and my pea friends. hrm, kind of like real life.

DH is having a root canal done this afternoon so dinner will be something non-threatening to his tender mouth. Maybe eggs or tomato soup. I'll think of something. Maybe I'll puree the last of the strawberries and he can drink 'em for dessert!

I'm not sure what we're having. My refrigerator is acting like it wants to die, so I will use what I can from the freezer before it actually does. *sigh* I just got off the phone with Sears, and the soonest they can come is the 24th. Bummer. Funny about your dream, lucyg! That's exactly how I picture scrapmaven too!

In honor of another late night home I'm trying a new recipe. It's a crockpot recipe so I really don't hold out a lot of hope that it will be good, but who knows. Thai peanut chicken with rice and some kind of veggie surprise when I pick up my weekly CSA.

Marinated chicken, mixed pan fried veggies, ovenbaked potato slices and bacon. After two days of fish for dinner, I deserved bacon! There might be some icecream later, methinks. Or brownies.....
Or possibly both. After all, I have eaten fish two days in a row!

Last day of school here. It has been a LONG year for DS (and me)!
I think I'm going to try a new recipe I found for Sesame Noodles. I don't have any Chinese noodles so I'll probably use linguine instead. And some kind of vegetable to go with, maybe carrots.

scrapmaven - great questions - I have a couple more. Will Leanne's dds eat the dinner she makes? Will she actually make them a second meal? And who will have the most dishes with their meal on a weeknight? lucyg, what a dream, love it! I am making the chicken with buffalo wing sauce that I never made last p.m. I am not sure what I am serving with it. Lisa

We're having pork chops. I have no idea what we're having for sides.
I think another question should be will Kellee's dh make any food with flavor?!? I love him dearly but the man is a boring cook. And, for the record, I'd be happy to cook every day but he won't hear of it since I work and he's retired.
ETA: I really sound like an ungrateful B&/(@. I genuinely appreciate my husband. He's all kinds of awesome and I do thank him for cooking every day.

I was planning to make chicken salad (with celery, onions, apples & almonds) with the extra chicken I grilled yesterday, but now I'm thinking I might use some of the chicken for a rice noodle & vegetable stir fry with peanut sauce because I have a big hunk of ginger staring at me that needs to be used. I'll wait and decide this afternoon if I want a cold or hot dinner.

Thank you for dreaming such a nice dream about me. I'm actually short, 50 something, and those crows feet are getting more prominent. Trixie Bender I prefer the version of me that you and lucyg have in your minds. Let's go w/that. Supermodel? Me? Why, of course. I do keep my info private, but that's due to the whack-a-doodles that we've had on the old board. On another note, I now want a cheeseburger.

I vote that we call a moratorium on painful dental procedures. Who's w/me? Hope your dh is comfortable and that his root canal is an easy one.

I sure do get a kick from this daily thread!!
lucyg I like your dream a whole bunch better than the one I had last night! I dreamt that I had another baby! Yikes! It was a girl. I was also sentenced to jail for a year but nobody could tell me why or what I had done!
Tonight I am making chicken fried rice from the leftover Costco chicken. I can't believe how much chicken is on one of those and for only 5 bucks!!

I'm going for a record here and actually cooking a real meal for the 3rd night in a row. Hey, baby steps. I'm thinking mac and cheese and some broccoli. I might be stretching the definition of "meal" a bit, but it will be home made.

Seriously funny, ladies. All of you! This is the best thread going on this board. Cut up Cajun sausage, rice, some kind of seasoning I'll find in the cupboard, and broccoli. Dh, with his terrible allergies, is out mowing in advance of some rain coming in. He'll be miserable so I might just make him a chocolate something or another. Or fly him to Trixie Bender 's house for dessert! Thanks for the thread.

If it is Wednesday, we are cutting grass - so we cut our yard and the neighbors (seniors citizens) yard because that's they way we roll (Southern hospitality). Finished both yards and as we were sitting outside 'cooling' off - yeah it was 106 heat index when we came inside.. . I suggested to DH that we go pick up him a burger and fried veggies for me from Ground Pati Grille and Bar. He was all for that. So no cooking in this household but just some good greasy food.

Hope your dh is comfortable and that his root canal is an easy one. LoL! Actually, we've been pretty lucky for a long time and usually just need the bi-annual cleaning. It just seems like we're both falling apart now! Yeah, I figure in the last 15 yrs or so, our dentist has been able to send his kids to college from us, so I'm all for a moratorium! However, I do have a consult with my implant dude next month; dentist thinks I may need two to replace the bridge that's been giving me all the grief lately. We shall see.

It's a good day to check this thread! My plans for just about everything have been messed up today, and I currently have no ideas for dinner. We went to nearby "city" for a doctor appt. We could not find anywhere to eat lunch. Why would everyplace be crowded on a Wednesday at lunch? Anyway, we went to a very old restaurant, the first place I ever ate in KY. It was horrible, but slow and noisy. Now we are home. We bought no food, I had considered thawing something to grill, but we're having a huge storm. So I'll add a question to scrapmaven's list - what should valleyview do for dinner? BTW, it's our anniversary! We joke and say that our wedding night dinner was bad, so it is a tradition.

DH requested Chicken and Dumplings. It's so rare that he actually has a request for me that I usually make what he wants. Even if I think it's cool weather food and it's going to be SUPER HOT here. He's also of the opinion chili is any weather food so we'll be having that tomorrow. Does anyone else correlate certain foods to certain seasons? (When I was growing up, my mom would plan dessert first, then the dinner she thought fit with it.)

We grill all year round ... even in the dead of winter dh will be out there in the snow I make stew and soup and chili all year round as well because they are tasty ... I will admit that I won't make a roast or something like that on the hottest days of summer because the oven has to be on for awhile but that only covers a few weeks here in Alberta ...

leannec, I'll go check the refrigerator for some wine. We neglected to go to the liquor store in our hurry to outrun storms. No pizza, though. Our tiny town only has Pizza Hut, and I don't consider that to be pizza. I have some pasta in the freezer, so we'll probably have ravioli. It could be worse - we have power, and our neighbors do not.

I might be stretching the definition of "meal" a bit, but it will be home made. Then this will make you feel 110% better about your definition of a meal: mine tonight will be mint chocolate chip ice cream. Why? Because it is hot as all levels of hell today. Hot enough that even *I* am hot. example one: My mom's friend's yard guy passed out today. These guys are used to working in the summer heat and down he went. It is hot. example two: Orlando press conference today: they had to stop the conference for a moment to call for an emt to help a camera man who passed out. So that is my excuse and I am sticking to it. (and lucyg I was the short one with big boobs. You just couldn't understand me because of that southern drawl thing I have going on. )
