I have some younger friends and one thing they like to do that I don't understand is videoing themselves doing car karaoke. For one, it is dangerous and illegal to use a phone while driving, but what is the purpose, to show the world you can sing?? LOL! OK, I know, everything does not have to have a purpose. And it seems to be a popular thing to do right now. So, what are you too old to understand?  |

I'm too old to understand the pre-teen/teen fashion fad of the socks pulled all the way up, halfway up their calves.
Makes me think of an old man.

And you don't look like a prepubescent teen with breasts and hips. OP If you're talking about James Corden I love his car Karaoke and his phone is sitting on his dashboard, he's not holding it. |

I don't think this fashion fad has made it's way down to the southern hemisphere yet. But if it does I will also not understand it. Back in my day (a phrase which immediately marks me as "old") long socks were the daggiest thing a girl could wear. You HAD to wear bobby socks. My mum bought me long white socks which I then had to fold over and over to turn them into bobby socks. Only private school girls wore long socks and we thought they were losers! ETA: I take it back - it HAS made it's way down here!! I just remembered my brother and I were teasing my 13yo nephew just the other day because he was wearing shorts and socks pulled up as far as they could go (mid calf length). OMG!! It looks so silly (to this old person anyway). |

Selfies - can't stand them. I have unfriended friends and relatives that post selfies constantly. I wish there was a nice way of saying ENOUGH ALREADY I know what you look like!

The appeal of most video games. I played a little Zelda in my day, but I haven't been interested in video games for years. This does not deter my son from trying to tell me all about this great thing that happened in Dota or whatever.

I'm too old to understand Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and any of those apps or sites where people post all those selfies and updates of themselves every second of the day, all the food they eat and every.single.thing.they.do. Honestly, does anybody REALLY care what someone else had for lunch?  And it's not all young people doing it either. |

Until two weeks ago I was too old to understand SnapChat. But then my 11 year old niece showed me and I love it. I mostly follow celebs and You Tubers. I don't post anything myself. But I love taking selfies with the filters. Today there's a Finding Dory one.

Your opinion might change if you saw the recent appearance he had on Jimmy Fallon talked about getting a boner and eating pot edibles. He is trying to hard to change his image and I see it as a big F-A-I-L. I lost respect for him after seeing that show. His immaturity really showed. |

But I was talking about a couple of my friends. One is always in the car by herself when she videos herself singing to the radio. And I know she doesn't have a device to attach her phone to the dash. |

I played a little Zelda in my day, but I haven't been interested in video games for years. This does not deter my son from trying to tell me all about this great thing that happened in Dota or whatever. My son plays Assassins Creed. Every time he plays, the music makes me sleepy. Like Pavlov's dog, I wander over to to the couch, lay down, and between the music and him explaining what is happening-I am out in less than a minute. Every single time. |
