I was thinking of more in the car.
How about "Mini Road Trip"? for those excursions that aren't actual trips, but just little jaunts to places we haven't been before (or have, and wanted to return to).
"Afternoon Out" could cover a plethora of activities and events. Could be a trip to the ice cream parlor, or the playground, or just running errands with the kids.

Great ideas. I am another "B" side scrapbooker. I love to use the more muted side for layering and only use a little of the bold patterns.
I am getting used to having to cover the detail on journaling cards. I tuck it under or put some other embellishment over it.

What I DO want, is more GREAT B sides that can be used for any occasion. I use them for backgrounds, and have a hard time finding some I can use. I'd like to see something other than pastels. No more pink, peach, aqua or yellow! I have 10 and 17 yo sons and two grandsons. I can only do so many pages of my DDs with the pastel-y crap everybody has been putting out for the past couple years. Let's try navy, lt. blue, red, green, etc...and not related to a holiday or theme. "Afternoon Out" could cover a plethora of activities and events. Could be a trip to the ice cream parlor, or the playground, or just running errands with the kids. SO sick of pink and gold!

I have kids with special needs. I usually like the colors in the boy lines, but why must it be themed? Skateboards, video games, bikes,... My son doesn't even play with toys!

Reading the comments on sneak peaks posted threads, I'm seeing a lot of non-love for donuts, hamburgers, giraffes, grandma sofas, etc. Where are the grandma sofa papers? Is it just grandma looking floral patterns? Can you give me a link?

everyday life - YES!
primary colours and crisper colours (not so muted/washed out) - stuff that works with kids' clothes, toys, playgrounds...
more realistic less cutesy stuff for scrapping kids and everyday life...biking, playing outside, nature hikes, Lego,
everyday nature stuff - I take WAY more photos of flowers and butterflies and spiders and backyard birds/wildlife than I do of bears and giraffes and the like

I'm so done with pink. I like pink but I scrapbook little boys and I'm running out of ways to incorporate pink into their pages. More blues, reds, and greens would be great.
Also, I agree about the images on boys lines. My nephews don't like sports or vehicles. That knocks out most of the boy lines. I don't want to scrap them "themey", I just want some color combos that aren't so precious.

I want lines with blue, green, and red that are not nautical or 4th of July. Boy lines that are not bugs, trucks, balls. I'm also sick of pink on everything.

When the youngest started dating and I started taking pictures, I was kind of excited to use some pinks. She's not a fan of oink and likes blues. I have one prom layout that I did a 4 pager for because her dress was a shimmery coral/pink. I don't like pink either, but I had some pretty Simple Stories paper with pink in it.

I wish designers would acknowledge the fact that we don't all vacation at the beach with palm trees and other tropical items. Some of us vacation in the city or by water that is not ocean. Even when we do the beach, it is Lake Erie...not a palm tree in sight.
And for every day or home life, again, some of us live in the city. So much of that type of stuff is country or rustic.
Younger grandmother stuff. Even my grandmother wasn't as "old" as designers seem to think. She didn't own an apron or a rocking chair.

You folks are brilliant. Now if only the designers would listen to your fantastic suggestions.. But I fear more pink, gold, teal, cartoon-animal stamps, pineapples, and eyeglasses are on their way.

You know I love pink and teal and could happily buy both until the end of time BUT... The pinks and teals that are out right now are really ugly pinks and teals. They're really muddy colors. I like vibrant colors.

My vote would be for basic patterns, smaller in size, and in bright or jewel colors I might actually use. Does anyone remember the Watercolor papers that Making Memories had eons ago? Designs like that, such as tone on tone dots, gingham, plaid, stripes in colors that coordinate with each other. I still have some in my stash and every time I purge I refuse to get rid of it because no one has done anything like that for years.

Yes to more arrows, xbox, treadmill, running shoes, realistic cats and dogs, navy and green and yellow and red, navy thickers and blue thickers that aren't glitter, red thickers non-glitter, trucks, SUVs, cleats, "negative" realistic phrases, wood embellishments, trees, hamsters, laundry piles, mops, vacuum cleaners, diet coke/pepsi/soda, cell phones, netflix, amazon, wine, beer.
Stop with the zebras, pandas, giraffes, record players, tape cassettes, best day ever, random pineapples, donuts, cupcakes, weird fruit.

A really beautiful color combination is navy and lavender. Another is navy and yellow or black, grey and yellow. I could go for a whole line surrounding daisies with navies and a plethora of other blues. I'm a ginger so I can barely get away with reds but yellows and oranges don't look that good on me. Since my kids are all bi-racial, statistics won for their hair and they are all brunettes (they all started with blue eyes, my boys' eyes changed around 2 1/2...so I expect the same with my daughter eventually) and my daughter looks absolutely STUNNING in yellow, so I buy a LOT of beautiful floral themed (usually polka dots with a floral around the chest or skirt of a dress) and they make me so incredibly happy. They are gorgeous and vibrant and so very rich. My eyes are so happy when I dress her in those outfits because I adore the color combinations and the rich saturation of colors. I also like daisies because they are a very simple and graphic design, they aren't overly dainty and ornate. They are simple and beautiful on patterns and I just can't get enough.
The purples I keep seeing are DIRTY, they are not bright in the least...or they are watercolor bleeding into pink for half of the image so the purple is barely even there. I can deal with pale purples because they do go with darker and more vibrant contrasting colors well (my daughter's room is light purple with a very bright and bold turquoise and it looks amazing), but why does it keep getting paired next to pink (so I have to add the pink or cut around it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME) or so dull that it hardly registers as purple?

After seeing the Addison line sneak peak, I thought of something else I want.
Addison has washi tape with the phrase, "Guy crazy." What if my dd is Girl Crazy?
Would it be too much of a stretch for the scrapbooking manufacturers to make stuff geared towards all gender orientations?
I'm not saying every line need include it, but it would be cool if it wasn't always assumed that all our children were heterosexual. All of our sons masculine to a T. All of our daughters flouncing around in pink tutus, applying another coat of lipstick.

All of our daughters flouncing around in pink tutus, applying another coat of lipstick. After many shootings that have occurred recently, most scrapbook companies have said something that went out to support those who had lost loved ones...it has even happened after some of the overseas bombings that have made major headlines. I scrolled and scrolled and scrolled and scrolled after the Orlando shootings and while Becky Higgins had plenty to say on faith after attending church that day, there was not a SINGLE SOLITARY comment from ANY company I follow (I follow over 200 on FB sorted into their own category) that even mentioned it. Scrapbooking companies are mostly based in Utah and most of the owners/pioneers of the brand are Mormon. They basically kicked anyone out of the church after the legalization of gay rights last year who even supported same sex couples so I really really really really don't see this happening ANYTIME soon. Not to say every company or scrapbooker is religious, but I would say that a very high percentage of people who scrapbook or are involved in the industry are also religious which means a higher likelihood of a negative backlash for a company to take that on. The hobby is becoming much more trendy thanks to the planner world and some of the big names being hip 20 somethings, but I think there is still a long road ahead in regards to fair representation of the LGBTQ community. I certainly wouldn't expect a large scrapbook company to be the first to dip their toes in, more like small etsy shops or scrapbook stores that also produce their own assortment of stamps and other embellishments.

I just thought of something.
Fitness and weight loss themes would be awesome. Just things about being a lifestyle, one day/step at a time. Baby steps. Progress. Getting there. Setbacks happen. Motivation. I'm doing it. Pushing yourself. Working hard.
I am currently the highest I've been weight wise not pregnant in over 7 years (not my all time high, but closer than my lowest which is 110 less than my highest). Right now, I'm not in the right frame of mind to be fully successful, but I'm trying one step at a time...literally. My BFF right now is my fitbit. I have been whining at 10k steps because I've been sore getting there until about a week ago...it reminds me of when I was first working retail and on my feet all day...it sucked and just emphasized how out of shape I was. Then randomly last Friday, I decided to walk to 15k steps because 10k didn't hurt my feet. And then I did it again on Saturday and then on Sunday. Monday I stopped at 14k, but I had told myself my goal was only going to be 12k and I exceeded that. Then yesterday...I decided to go for 10k before hubby got off work knowing I'd get a lot of walking in at Ikea and Walmart...got over 15k again. Then tonight I pushed myself to 20k (sore as all hell, but I did it).
I can't tell you how many times I've seen people ask about scrapbooking about weight loss and how to go about it (separate record or put it with everything else) and asking for people to share what they've recorded regarding it...I think it might be a niche product, then again, there are MANY MANY MANY people who love to run and are into all sorts of outdoor activities that extend far beyond mountain ranges and palm trees being what they are involved in while outdoors. Even a smaller mid-season release would be great, though. A mini theme (with just 3 papers, 6 designs) and a couple of sticker sheets like Echo Park does, maybe. Scales, measuring tapes, whistles, treadmills, weights, encouraging tiny word phrases, etc...

I don't follow sb companies on social media, and had no idea none of them spoke up for the victims of the Orlando massacre. That hurts my heart. Mine as well. I told my husband how disappointed I was. You don't have to make it political or about your views on something to agree that it was an absolute tragedy and to say you're sad about it. I told him that no matter what company it was, had I seen someone say something that day, they'd have a customer for life in me because it would have made that much of impact after the deafening silence I saw that day. I've never felt like I truly fit into the scrapbooking mold because I'm anti-religion (not so much an atheist, more like I believe religion is the root of much of our division as humans), but the more I'm involved in various communities, the more I realize that there is a lot of diversity. After the legalization last year I saw so many people make PL app pages, mixed media journaling pages, pages about their children who were gay with their partners, etc...it really warmed my heart...several of my groups were flooded in rainbows last June. So, maybe it will be sooner than we think, but longer than we'd like.

I was looking through my stash the other day and I was thinking about what collections I did and did not love, even after all this time...
-Does anyone remember Amy Tan's Sketchbook collection...that was lovely! Bright colours and even though it used the wayercolour theme it wasn't so tired, even looking at it now. It has bright aquas, and yellows, and greens and oranges with bold black and white sketchy designs. I wish she would do something more like that again.
-Sassafras Lass...oh Sass I miss you Anthem and Vintage yummy, bold colours, fun collagey designs.
-October Afternoon in particular lines like Woodland Park and Sidewalks. They had geometrics (polka dots, stripes, chervons), and interesting prints and colours. Woodland park had some amazing blues(rich, dark navy!) and there was some pink, but not much blush pink at all, the dark pink bordered on red. Sidewalks had a really beautiful and kid friendly theme lots of yellow, red and aqua. Rocket Age...sigh...the colours again navy, golden orangey yellow, red great patterns and theme, but very usuable B sides if you didn't want the themey side!
I think one of the best lines of this past year was Starshine which really embraced that old OA feeling for me...even though it had pink it had plenty of other colours and even a colourblocked piece of paper (someone above was asking for colourblocking). It had loads of geometric papers with more themey prints on one side. It had florals, it has geometrics, it had stars...I want more lines like this, lines that work for many themes in rich USABLE colours.
Seriously, don't try to fix what's not broken and force trends that aren't going to happen..."Stop trying to make fetch happen!"

The black & white chevron from Amy Tan's Sketchbook is one I'm thinking of, the smaller scale of the chevron is perfect for an accent strip here and there. Just make patterns smaller, like the size on the 6x6 pads but printed 12x12. Oh and bring back Scenic Route!

They even had various collections in various styles of colours...take a peek you might like those. Save

crazy4scraps it's so funny that you would mention Making Memories Watercolor papers because I just used two (hoarded) sheets of it last night and it was perfect. I love that they did the Watercolors in two series: one with really bright saturated colors like lime green, and the second series was darker jewel tones like olive green. The papers I used looked like watercolors that had been rained on and I've had them since I started scrapbooking in the late 90's. I only have three sheets left: I still love them and they still look timeless. The MM Watercolors did various techniques within a color: one was sponged on, one was splattered, one was striped, etc. Tone on tone: YES definitely bring those back! I also loved Sharon Sonneff's watercolored poemstones look. If I had to ask for something a little more current, it would be to change the scale of patterns. Maybe use the scale of print on a 6x6 pad to a sheet of 12x12: a teeny tiny chevron instead of a big honkin' chevron. I'd like a barely-visible newsprint in a nontraditional color, like turquoise swimming pool newsprint: hard to tell the background from the printing. I'd like to see one of those circa 1600 old world maps (like 4 pieces across) in really bright nontraditional map colors, like cobalt blue. And no more distressing. Faux distressing is why I haven't purchased patterned papers in a very very long time. If I want it to look wrecked and ruined, I can muck it up myself, thanks. I can't seem to find a dark-enough cherry red, I can't find crayola crayon sky blue, red-violet, or periwinkle colors: I'm looking for deep, rich saturated tones (like dark violet or chocolate brown) and colors that look like texture but are actually physically flat. Like an ice dye background, not tie dye. Please, no lumps but a decent thickness of weight to the paper, like watercolor weight and thickness, the way K&Co. used to do. I refuse to buy anything with cartoonish animals, mustaches, eyeglass frames, donuts, or best day ever. I'm a grownup and my kids are grown and the scrapbook manufacturers are really missing a huge market share if they think the only scrapbookers out there are young moms with toddlers. I've got money to spend but nothing worthwhile to buy.

Addison has washi tape with the phrase, "Guy crazy." What if my dd is Girl Crazy? It seems kind of shallow too, doesn't it? Looking back on my teen years, there were very few girls who acted that way. Scrapbooking companies are mostly based in Utah and most of the owners/pioneers of the brand are Mormon. They basically kicked anyone out of the church after the legalization of gay rights last year who even supported same sex couples so I really really really really don't see this happening ANYTIME soon. Times are changing. A transgender woman beat out a Mormon in the Democratic nomination to run for Senate in the state of Utah! While the numbers are in favor of the Republican, it is NOT overwhelmingly. I do have to say I haven't noticed scrapbook companies in the past making comments about world events. Then again, I don't follow their blogs much, so I may be wrong. They seem to stick to promoting their business. I would love a line with rainbows. For the selfish reason that it suits my daughter's personality!
