If so, what do you take and for what reason? How often do you take them? I'm just curious as to what seems to work for others.
I have high cholesterol and don't want to take statins so I take cholestoff and red yeast rice and try to watch my diet. (Try being the operative word.) I am considering adding a multi vitamin and calcium. I have tried to take them before but they tend to upset my stomach.
I am approaching 60 and am in good health. I have read both pros and cons to taking supplements so I'm curious what your take is on them.

I tend to believe that they're generally a bit of a waste of money unless you have a specific ailment that requires a supplement as suggested by a doctor, such as iron. A good diet can, on the whole, give you most of what you need as far as vitamins are concerned. By good diet I mean plenty of fresh not convenience food, varied intake of fruit, veg, etc etc.

I take b12 since I rarely eat meat. I thought it may help with my energy. Turns out it's mostly my lack of sleep causing low energy. I don't know why I keep taking them. Probably habit.

I take calcium because I don't get near enough in my diet, and short of drinking milk I just cannot figure out how to get enough as I shy away from dairy. I take Migrelief (riboflavin and magnesium) to help with frequency of migraines (recommended by my GP). I take a "Super B Complex." And lastly I take probiotics to help with digestion issues. I'm 54.

I take B vitamins because I don't eat much meat and because dementia runs in my family. Actually it doesn't run, it strolls through getting to know everyone personally Anyway, B stands for healthy brain I also take iron for ten days after giving blood. Other than that I believe a healthy diet is more important than supplements.

I started taking Simply One Triple Power Women last year and it has made a huge difference. Never being a vitamin person my doctor recommended I start a multi vitamin to help with D, Potassium & Magnesium as I was low on all of them. I tried several brands and this one is the only one that doesn't upset my stomach or give me indigestion. Simply One

I take a probiotic and a multi vitamin. I have GERD and IBS. The probiotic is something my DR said I could try and it seems to help. The multi vitamin I take to make sure I'm getting what I need nutritionally because I have to limit my diet sometimes when either my GERD or IBS (or, God forbid, both) are flairing up.

Calcium Citrate with D3 because I am very borderline osteoporosis and have been for about 18 years (recommended by my Gyn and GP.)
TripleFlex w/D3 for my knees (recommended by my GP and my orthopaedic dr.) Currently switched to Sams brand and it seems to be working better.
Ortho also recommended Fish Oil, Vitamin B and Termeric Curcumin after knee surgery.

I take A multi because I don't always eat well A calcium supplement (not just calcium, but I can't remember what else is in it!) because my parents have osteoporosis A glucosamine + other stuff supplement for my arthritic joints An extra Vit D supplement because my levels were low at my last physical.
I also take Zyrtec every day (per doctor's orders), but that's not really a supplement.

I take 1000 IU of vitamin D daily at my doctor's recommendation (she thinks it's important for women overall and I'm sure I don't get enough in my diet or from being outside). And I am currently taking iron supplements because of bloodwork indicating anemia.
I was taking B2 (riboflavin) to try to help with migraines, but I discontinued it because it was making me itchy and I was scratching my arms until they bled.

I take a B12 supplement as I don't really eat meat. I also take a Prenatal Vitamin and DHA/EPA (because I'm expecting). I take also take a calcium supplement with vitamin D a few times a week as I don't eat dairy.

I take a cranberry supplement as I am very prone to UTIs. I haven't gotten one since I have started taking them daily. I also take fish oil and biotin for hair and nail growth.

I sometimes take a multi vitamin for women. I'm lazy. But when I do, I definitely feel a difference with more energy. I take Complex B because I've always been low in Vit B and this too helps with energy. I take a daily probiotic which boosts my immune system. It has changed my life so much health wise that I would preach to almost anyone who will listen. But I don't. I will take high doses of Vitamin C when I feel a cold come on and it almost always helps me avoid the cold. And finally, I take Slow-Mag whenever my cycle is due. It helps alleviate my migraines. But thanks to MichyM I will be checking out the Migrelief! I read that it makes a difference of the quality of the vitamin. I thought that was rubbish until I felt the effects myself. Now I rarely buy the cheap store brands, only the high quality ones.

Glucosamine because I'm a marathon runner and figure it can't hurt to help my joints. Other than that, the only thing I take is a Berocca tablet (vit B & C) when I feel like I might be coming down with a cold. I eat pretty healthily so think I get a good range of nutrients through my food.

I never worried about osteoporosis because there are few people who ingest as much calcium in a regular diet as I do. I'm sure I single-handedly support a least one dairy farmer.
But I was wrong I have osteoporosis and have lost three inches of height. Apparently, my body does not handle the vitamins and minerals in a normal way. So now I am on supplements to see if that helps.
I was talking to one of my sisters who also has osteo and has for about 15 years and her doctor took her off all of the supplements she was on because a study has shown that the supplements taken for osteo can create heart problems.
I already have heart problems so I have an appointment with my doctor to discuss this situation. I can see it being a damned if I do and damned if I don't.

B complex to help regulate hormones. Cranberry to prevent UTI's. Acidophilus, which is a probiotic. That's all I take.

I found out eating shrimp was what was causing severe inflammation in my finger joints, not arthritis.

I take way too many to list not enough hours in a day But my SIL is a chiropractor and he says everyone should take Omega3 Mineral Probiotic Vitamin D3 there is one more but I can't remember what it is

I am 53 and have high cholesterol, but am otherwise pretty healthy. I take fish oil, a calcium supplement and a multivitamin, all recommended by my doctor. In addition to the fish oil, I also made dietary and exercise changes to try to lower my cholesterol. My annual is next mo th and if it isn't down, I'll probably start taking Lipitor.

I'm chronically low in magnesium and potassium, I take prescription supplements of them. Being low on them is dangerous to my heart health.
i also take vitamin d and calcium.

I take a fish oil, vit d, and a prenatal multi vitamin (all per doctors directions) My vit d levels stay in the low end of acceptable ranges even with the extra vit d.
I also take a CoQ10 since I do take a statin. This is one the doc hasn't directed me to take.

I am supposed to be taking a lot more than i am. I'm taking a B12 & Calcium. I have a hernia in my belly, till we get in there and they fix it again we're hold off on more stuff. Just trying to keep it stable till they do.

I only take what my Integrative Medicine doctor prescribes:
Homocysteine Supreme-provides B12 in a version my body can digest (I have a defective MTHFR gene) Adrenal Cortex Fractions-to treat Adrenal Insufficiency Complete Mineral Complex Evening Primrose Oil-to help with hot flashes NeuroMag-a magnesium supplement to help prevent migraines
Rainbow Light 50+ Food Based Multivitamins (he didn't prescribe these, but approves of them)
Since I lost weight on the vegan diet (Whole foods, plant based) and am at goal weight (125 lbs) my cholesterol is low, blood pressure was always low, and EKG is excellent. It took a long time to lose the weight because I'm hypothyroid and in the middle of menopause, but it was so worth it. Within 3 months my cholesterol dropped from 220 to 187! I lost 61 pounds altogether. It might be something to think about.
