Are we going to get a surge of new members now that Amazon has announced it sold over 91000 instant p0ts yesterday?
And yes, thanks to the peas, I was one of those

Well, if we do, our new members may be sorely disappointed. This board is more about kitten heels and shopping carts than insta pots.

The main Instant Pot group on FB got like 6,000 new members yesterday.
Amazon's press release actually said 215,000 Instant Pots were sold.
I doubt the peas had much to do with it, but some high profile bloggers like Nom Nom Paleo definitely did.

You guys are probably just kidding because I seriously doubt the number of those pots sold have much to do with this board. Next year at this time it would be interesting to see how many of these pots are still in the box or rarely used. I've seen this happen all the time with stamp/scrapping tools. One person says it's the greatest thing since sliced bread ( not necessarily people Peas) and everyone wants one, then the item sits in the box or back of a cabinet.

I'm actually going to use the one I bought. DH will too. We use our crock pot pretty often and this would do the same thing (and more) so much faster. The fact that our crock pot is so slow is the only reason why we don't use it more than we do. I see a lot more pulled pork and chicken and BBQ ribs in our future!

Whichever figure is accurate, it's a lot of Instapots! More users, more recipes! Maybe it will be the 80s pasta maker or 90s bread machine and run its course. Maybe not.
If I used a $119 pair of shoes consistently for a year, then never wore them again I'd be satisfied. Even better if they were $69!
If my instapot is used once a week I'll call it a success too. It's a tool for how we live now, no guilt if it's not a lifetime commitment.

I also took the plunge and ordered one. I vow to actually open the box and use it!

I promise to help everyone use theirs if they want to! We've had our regular threads going since Jan or Feb and I suspect there will be more interest for the next month or two. It has been fun to see even a few of the most skeptical peas become the Instant Pot's biggest fans. There are more and more experts here to help with any questions people have.

According to the poll, 115 of them were sold to the refugees. Not a huge amount but quite a few. I had been looking at them for a while and like several others have said the price was right to buy and try.

I took the OP to mean that people will come here from Googling Insta Pot and not we were the cause of people buying.

I told DH to be on the look out for delivery today. If it comes today then I'm stopping at the market and getting ingredients to make frozen meatballs and penne for him for dinner. I will do my obligatory water test then I'm jumping right in or I'll leave it in the box for months.

{raises hand...} You know it! {I was thinking of both you and oh yvonne } Oh you know it! I ask millions of questions, mull it over, ask some more questions. Read the threads and try to relate it to my own lifestyle to see if I'll use it. I'd been asking about that other pot, what was it, a crockpot that you can saute in..can't recall the name. I hadn't paid attention to any pressure cooker threads cause all I could think of is 'cook beans in it'. Then, my BFF received one for Christmas and loved hers so much once she took it out of the box (sometime in March I think)..she was kicking herself for being so uninterested in it. Being the besty that she is, she promptly ordered me one as an early birthday present (even though my bd is in late June!) haha. Of course now I'm sold on it. Of course! I agree, it may well be the 'bread machine' of the 'ohteens' but who cares, so long as its used. And now that i think about it, I *still* have an use my bread machine to this day. I am enjoying cooking in my IP while I plot out my next Pokemon Go catching trip. today's lunch will consist of chicken thighs/potatoes/green beans cooked in the IP and I'm loving it. Appreciate Elaine's and all the Peas who taught me when I first got started. I'll pass along the tips to the newbies now too!

I'm going to do some searching in the Instant Pot FB page to get the BEST recipe for pasta and meatballs. I also picked up the The Great Big Pressure Cooker book....500 "easy" recipes. So I'm going to peruse that while watching TV tonight.

I was thinking if we end up liking it, it might be a good thing to have one at our lake cabin too. Most of our cooking there is done either on the grill or in the microwave. We have an electric stove that we haven't turned on once in five years (long story) but I think we probably would use an Instant Pot because it wouldn't heat up the cabin when it's already hot inside and out. It sure would be nice to have something other than hamburgers, grilled chicken breasts or takeout pizza once in a while when we're there!
