My DD is expecting her first baby. She already had one shower that was just for the girls she grew up with & their moms...boy was that fun! It was hosted by two of her best friends & she gave them gift bags from Lush.
The next one is for family & family friends hosted by my sister & her daughter. A very uptight 50 year old bank executive and a 26 year old free spirited restaurant catering coordinator. They are always tough to buy for.
The last one is for her work friends. They are all RNs at a children's hospital. One friend has coordinated but several are pitching in..., I suggested Starbucks cards for all but DD wants to be more thoughtful than a gc.
Any suggestions?

We don't get/give hostess gifts for work showers, so I can't help there.
Is wine an option for the 2nd shower?

When my best friend had my shower, I know that she did not expect any sort of gift at all but I wanted to do something for her. I surprised her the next day and had an arrangement of her favorite flowers delivered from a local florist. She was very touched and it was something that she would not have done for herself ever.

For the work friends, she could do LUSH, too. Doesn't have to be as extravagant as what she gave for the first shower, but she could do like a honey bee bath bomb with a burt's bees lip balm wrapped together in a pretty cellophane bag with ribbons. Or the lush yuzu cocoa bubbleroon and the chocolate whipstick (which is chocolate orange flavored). Or is there something they could all use for work like adorable pins for their scrubs or something? Monogram keychains? I bought one these tote bags on eBay because I needed something for a crop and didn't want to spend a ton of money. It turned out to be one of my favorite tote bags. For your sister/niece... maybe a monogrammed tote bag, something from 31 Gifts? If you know their jewelry tastes, perhaps a bracelet or charm/bead if they have that kind of bracelet? (I know how we talk about how jewelry is pretty personal here but for something like this, even if I didn't like the jewelry, I would keep it as a memento.) Some kind of personalized keychain from etsy?

For her RN friends, maybe something for their feet since they are on them all day? I bet Lush has something. A nice refreshing foot mask/scrub/loofah and some nail polish would be cute. Or those socks the you wear overnight to soften the feet would also work with a nail polish. For your sister I like the idea of flowers or some wine/her drink of choice.

I did wine for my showers with Barefoot Moscoto and had a cute tag that said "thank you for showering me with love while I'm barefoot and pregnant. It was really cute and well received

Thank you for the great responses, ladies! I sent them to my DD.
I need to go check out Lush. I've never paid much attention to that store before.

I've never heard of giving a gift to the hostess of a shower. An effusive thank you note, yes, but not a gift. That being said, if you are going to do that, I wouldn't do anything "smelly" unless you are sure they like that kind of thing.

Curly Girl is my go to for gifts like that. They have really cute "girl power" type gifts. As a matter of fact, my sisters are throwing me a going away party next weekend and I got them a few cute little things from CG. www.curlygirldesign.com
