I still use lots of K&Co heavily-themed, illustrated paper. Partly because I have a lot of it, and partly because I really do still like it, even though I think that style of illustration has long been out of fashion. I once saw a comment on another message board - in fact, it might have been on the old Two Peas forum - that referred to K&Co papers as "grandma papers." Oh well! I only create for myself, not for blogs/design teams/etc., so I'm happy. A sister from another mister. I love my old lady prints! Don't knock it. They are YOUR albums as mine are my own! I love them!!! You know, K&Co was always had good solid products. Maybe not the most trendy but cute and very usable. I've got a bunch that I still love too.

I use all sorts of non-trendy things - I've recently added a paperkins to a layout, I used an old CADD topper on a layout, I still have some of those MME die cuts also...dug out some old tag cutouts from probably 12+ years ago and used on a layout (I can't remember who made them but they were flat but looked layered and were very in back in probably '03-ish). Still using my Deluxe Cuts colourblocking templates and my QK and my BH sketch books...I do multi-photo layouts mostly - often double page but some single as well. My theory is that if it works for my layout and my pictures, who cares if it's in right now or hasn't been in since 1999? I sure don't. If I like it, I use it. I'm with Linda. If something works for me, I'll use it; I don't care how old it is or if it's no longer trending. I still have some of those old K&Co papers. I still think they're some of the prettiest papers used in scrapbooking. To each his own...that's what makes this hobby fun!

Flowers aren't trendy anymore? I still use them, even on Yule cards. Loooove flowers I think they are. Prima has such cute ones. The ones I ditched were very old. They weren't even bad; I just couldn't make them work and was so overwhelmed at the volume of flowers I had for using them on a layout maybe 1 percent of the time. I kept two 5 x 7 Iris cases of them.

Maybe not the most trendy but cute and very usable. I've got a bunch that I still love too. I was at a crop with 10 ladies last week. There was a huge mixture of stuff from 15 years ago to yesterday! One lady, who was using some really old lines, was painstakingly making little flowers. The could not have been cuter with any of today's paper.

One thing that I didn't purge was Robin's Nest Dew Drops. Anyone remember those? I just couldn't get rid of those cute little bottles. And I pulled out a bottle to use this weekend.

I wanted to add I used a button tonight to a page. It had been a while. I just bought a Kaiser kit on scrapbook steals that was under $13.00. It had cross stitch looking embellishments, older looking papers, and even stamps were included (LOVE the ruler and I am usually NOT a stamp person). Clearly not trendy, because it was over 70% off, but so many of the things will go great with childhood photos.

Well, I'm not even sure what is and isn't considered trendy these days, so you can see that I'm already in over my head with this discussion, LOL. BUT, based on the OP, I will say that I still like brads and ribbons very much. I still have a bunch of eyelets, but use them less just due to them being more time consuming---and noisy. I had the silent setter, but I can't seem to find it right now.
I do like flowers, but don't get them to use that often due to my typical subject matter.

There isn't much I won't use. I've never been a big sticker person other than label stickers so I do tend to forget to go through my sticker drawer. I haven't used buttons as much in recent years on my pages and I'm not using them on cards because I don't want to pay the extra postage. Other than that, I try to use everything at least in small quantities. I love wood veneer and I don't think it will ever be out of style for me.

I use older paper and stickers but I did purge eyelets years ago and recently purged a bunch of ribbon I wasn't using, same with some old flowers as I mostly do masculine pages. I purged the color blocking templates because they were just more work trying to cut all the little pieces and getting pictures in the right size. I also still use solid cardstock. I don't like really bumpy pages so I am not a fan of buttons or metal embellishments unless they are pretty flat.
I figure if you enjoy making your pages and you like them then who cares if you are using something that is no longer in style.

I don't generally think about whether a product is "in" when I am making layouts. I just choose what I think fits and if I like it. I will admit, I hunt down vintage collections (it's a sickness) just so I can use them today. The last one was Sidewalks by October Afternoon a couple of months ago...yep it is years old, but I like it and I think it fits my style. One product I still use that I know isn't trendy is buttons. I have SO many from when you could buy these massive sacks of cute colours and shapes that matched collections. They are like shiny candies...so sometimes they make it onto my pages. I don't use much ribbon or trim anymore, but I do at times on mini albums and things like December Daily. But it does create a nice contrast of texture.

I have never been able to use flowers or ribbons on my layout and like others here just not something that was ever my style but I do still love brads, stickers and rubons, they will never be out of style in my world.
I have always loved the challenge of being able to use older and new products together, I buy the things I do because I like them and generally speaking I still like them years later. I buy fairly regularly from an online seller that sells everything from brand new, a few years old to the down right vintage 10+ yeas old and I usually find things from all of these groups to put in my cart.

I still have a bag of alphabet templates and I loved the watermelon alphabet, I recently used the letter stickers in the Watermelon font that I also bought from GoneScrappin.com years ago. ] dug out some old tag cutouts from probably 12+ years ago and used on a layout (I can't remember who made them but they were flat but looked layered and were very in back in probably '03-ish). I think they were made by Rebecca Sower, I still have some. Check! I've recently added a paperkins to a layout, I used an old CADD topper on a layout, me too again

Oh, Rebecca Sower! I still have her book, every time I go to throw things out I look at it knowing that I do not scrap like that but I can remember how I had to track that book down online to get it in Australia!
I still have quite a few of her layered die cut tag sets and still love the layouts I made long ago using them.
I actually used 2 of her papers (green texture with skeleton leaves) for a layout on a bed and breakfast we stayed in on the Big Island. Was perfect and I added a layered title cut from my Silhouette and it did not look old at all!

I don't even really know what's on or off trend anymore. I just use what I have and buy what I like.
The only thing I can think of is the elaborate stitching that's going on...I Love that and used that technique but I've been stitching on my layouts for a decade.

I used eyelets and ribbon on a card just this afternoon, in fact! I also use flowers a LOT.
I still use some metal things (hinges, hangers, etc.), but not the big word plaques or frames from back in the day.

I don't have that one but I have some that are similar that I've used on cards and on some layouts for my anniversary album pages recently! They're cute and I still love them. Remember those big Hello Kitty Sizzix dies from several years back? I used one that I got at a rummage sale to make a paper piecing for a layout with DD riding her little pink Hello Kitty bike. It was a perfect match for the page because I could cut the pieces whatever colors I wanted.

This thread makes me happy. I need tto purge my room of other stuff that's put there* but I hold on to most scrap stash.
I'm very out of touch with scrap trends right now, and am not concerned.
*see thrift thread!

I have some of the smaller Sizzlit ones too but not that set. They're cute! My kid likes Hello Kitty stuff too so I have an excuse to use the dies for some of her pages.

I still love my bottles of Prima flowers . I did purge my eyelets. Less because they aren't trendy and more because I am too lazy to set them.
