I know, I know, you use what you love. I couldn't think of a way to word this topic. I've noticed things like washi, wood veneers, and enamel dots seem to be more popular right now. In one of the threads I read quite a few people don't use brads, flowers, or ribbons much or got rid of them. These are things I still love to use, though I admit I have a hard time remembering to add extra stuff to pages. When I do remember, I like them! Another thing I've kept forever is My Mind's Eye die cuts. I should get rid of the kid ones, but I still love the titles and objects. When organizing my embellishments, I found quite a few border stickers. Still love them and need to use them; they are basically what washi does! What do you like to use that's considered not current?

I still use lots of K&Co heavily-themed, illustrated paper. Partly because I have a lot of it, and partly because I really do still like it, even though I think that style of illustration has long been out of fashion. I once saw a comment on another message board - in fact, it might have been on the old Two Peas forum - that referred to K&Co papers as "grandma papers." Oh well! I only create for myself, not for blogs/design teams/etc., so I'm happy.

I use all sorts of non-trendy things - I've recently added a paperkins to a layout, I used an old CADD topper on a layout, I still have some of those MME die cuts also...dug out some old tag cutouts from probably 12+ years ago and used on a layout (I can't remember who made them but they were flat but looked layered and were very in back in probably '03-ish).
Still using my Deluxe Cuts colourblocking templates and my QK and my BH sketch books...I do multi-photo layouts mostly - often double page but some single as well.
My theory is that if it works for my layout and my pictures, who cares if it's in right now or hasn't been in since 1999? I sure don't. If I like it, I use it.

I use papers and other elements that suit my pics and the story I want to tell. I love getting new stuff, and playing with it, like my Nuvo drops, and some of my mixed media stuff.
But I also love my stash. Use brads and eyelets fairly often. Start most pages with plain cs. Use letter stickers instead of die cutting titles with my Cricut
I often use old and new together if they fit the theme and the colours work.
I thought we were scrapping to preserve memories forever. so trendy or not, that is what I am trying to do

I still use most of the above – brads, eyelets, ribbon, flowers, K&Co, stickers. The difference now is that I use them as a little addition to a variety of embellishments on a page. They used to be the main attraction.
Oh yes, I still have some Paperkins. You never know, I might use one again some day!

I LOVE older products. I love the new things too. I tend to buy the "new" things 2-3 years after they were released. I guess that is considered old too. I love brads. I just bought some beautiful flourish brads and gold flamingo brads. I have a nice collection of normal brads that I dig into quite often. Flowers are old? Never!!!! I have a huge collection of flowers. I love to make flowers. Last year my DH bought me a container of Prima's for my Birthday. One of my favorite birthday presents in the world. Ribbons- I have a huge ribbon box. I keep adding to it. I love to use ribbon. It is timeless. I still use Skittles, metal ephemera, die cuts. I am not a Grandma. I love K&Co. I don't think I owned Paperkins. I have noticed that what is not trendy in the scrapbook industry becomes trendy in other crafting industries. I never feel like any of my items go out of style.

They used to be the main attraction. This is exactly how I feel. I love finding the perfect little bit of this or that to add to embellishment clusters. And that border sticker someone mentioned above could very well be the perfect thing to tuck under the bottom of my picture or layers...that is if I haven't tucked some pretty trim under there. I really believe that we can use what we love, new and old, in the current trend or style we see used.

My last few layouts have included flowers, brads, ribbon, gems, pearls, and mulberry paper. I love enamel dots, but some layouts look better with gems or pearls. I'm with the previous posters, I mix these with more modern elements. If it's in my stash, chances are, I'm going to use it. If I can figure out a way to include an eyelet, I will!
I think the one thing that I've dropped out of the rotation is metal elements. They don't look good with my style of scrapping.

What do you like to use that's considered not current? I didn't realize flowers weren't still in. I kinda thought they were timeless. Well, I'm guilty of using them still. Often. I use border strips all the time. I use them, like you mentioned, like washi. I have no problem ripping them in half, and layering. I use stickers. Are they in still? And I'm not against die cuts. They still in or no?

My house looks like a grandma house and my pages look like grandma pages. I like them both. I don't purge my supplies and if they look good on my page, I use them. I want my photos to be the main thing and I don't want to follow the new trends that make you search to even find a tiny picture. I do try the new trends sometimes, just for fun but the majority of my pages are very simple with minimal embellishments and a big photo.

I don't think about if a product is trendy. I still love brads and use them often.
I bought a lot of flowers, but don't use them often because I can't figure out how to make them work. I guess they aren't my style.

I just cleaned out two gallon sized baggies of flowers. I do mostly masculine layouts and was not using them. Now I have added space to buy something!
I still use ribbon, but mix twine with it.

I am sure I wouldn't even notice them on anyone else's page, or they would be able to make them work. I just couldn't.

I was trying to think of something "old" that I still use...but I can't. which is not to say that I'm a super trendy scrapper, because I'm not.
I got rid of all ribbons, flowers, bling flourishes, etc. eons ago because I knew I'd never use them.

Pretty much my whole stash!!! Lol!! I tend to mix something like nuvo drops with papers / stickers / old embellies I've had for years. Just worked on a layout the other day with some studio calico kit papers so dating back to 2012...

Well, now that's a long list, lol. I still use my Deluxe Cuts colorblocking templates all the time! I will never get tired of brads. I just chalked a title this week - and used my scrap pagerz watermelon template to do it! I still have a ton of alpha stickers and won't hesitate to use them if the color & font work w/my page. Speaking of stickers, don't even get me started! If I'm doing a themed page and I have stickers that work, they're going on a tag, lol. And while I haven't used them lately, I still own (and wouldn't hesitate to use) Paperkins or MAMBI stick figure kid stickers.

I tend to use what will work with the story and photos too. It doesn't matter if it's a brad, a flower, a ribbon, an old rub-on, an old sticker....if it works, it goes on.

This is me too. I have enough room for all my supplies so I don't purge either. So many things that were old come around again, or at least are useable in new ways- like in clusters.

I recently organized my brads by color and my buttons and now I am using them as little extra somethings on almost every layout for extra dimension. I like the way it looks.

Have you noticed rub ons in most of the new American Crafts lines? And I saw decorative edge chipboard minibooks at Michaels. It's all cyclical.

I love this thread. -I have about 9000 project life cards, so I try to tuck a few in on each layout. -Love handwritten journaling. -I ink and mat most of my layers. -I used my basic grey sanding files on something last week. -I still love rifling through my old scrapbook magazines for ideas. -I just used ribbon on a layout and bought a really cute set of brads that have shown up on more than one project in the last few months. -I really wish I could find my darn crop a dile because I needed to punch a hole and add eyelets to something!

I did a whole scrapbook with it and I still like those pages. It was before digital so I had a lot of less than great photos to use for all those little areas. Don't know if I could use them now, but would like to try.

I still use and love my Making Memories tag maker! I have a boatload of the tag rims and if I ever run out of them I will be sad. By the time I run out of tags I'll probably be close to 99 years of age and I'll have tons of pages with the tags but I'll still be sad when my old fingers place the last tag on a page.
